Picked up my reserved one today. Didn't look at it til I got back to my car. There was a chip in the aluminum band. Luckily, they had another one I exchanged it for. Just be sure to look it over before you get home...

I AM VICTORIOUS!!

I traveled through the depths of Best Buy's horror filled pre-order process, I've dodged bullets with their crappy customer service, and I have emerged a WINNER!!!!

Tomorrow I will be the proud owner of a 16 GB White AT&T iPhone 5 to be picked up The Galleria!!!!

God is good.

Haha

True story for me as well.

Best Buy iPhone pre-ordering system is one of the worst experiences I've dealt with in my life, lol. Their mobile salesmen and their customer services over the phone are some of worst in the industry. Never again.

All is forgiven and will be forgotten now since the 64 GB Black iPhone 5 (I picked up at an Apple Store here in FL) is going make my day everyday.

Cheers!

no Iphones in Iowa?

so every night this week at 10pm CST, I have been looking for a white 16gb Verizon iPhone 5 with no luck.
Also using Milo to check Best Buy and Radio Shack.

Is it possible that the Apple Store here isn't getting ANY shipments?

I've had my iPhone 5 since Launch day and my poor wife is trying to be kind about the fact that she still has a dumb phone but I need to find her that phone!

Aww I'm glad you got a happy ending too! Thank you so much and I hope you enjoy it! Where did you pick up from btw?

At last, I'll be heading up 40 miles to Galleria in Ft. Lauderdale to pick up my iPhone 5 tomorrow. At this rate most of my business is conducted in Broward County so I'll have to move there, and I saved $3 on tax. BTW, they showed up at 10:03pm not 9:58pm as before.

Once again, after a whole week The Falls had no reservations, either they're holding the phones for ransom or they're selling them to their friends, but what did I expect, this is Miami after all.

Aventura had some available though! and YES, they showed up EXACTLY at 10:03, I remember being VERY bummed out at first when they didn't show at 10. Which model are you picking up tomorrow? I ended up going with the 16 GB White on AT&T after they didn't have any 32s like I originally wanted.

I'll be picking up a 16GB ATT Black model. Check your email, I just received my iPhone's ready to be picked up email. That was fast.

Welp, to add to the "do not try to reserve and then change your phone to a full-price device in-store" warning...I got refunded b/c Apple refused to sell me a full-price device. Except I'm missing what seems like the $36 activation/upgrade fee. Problem is, I never saw the phone, touched the phone, opened the phone. Did AT&T already charge me before I even took possession of the phone? I want to get ALL of my money back. This seems criminal. Apple support told us one thing--change to full-price sale once in store, and then the Apple retail store of course renegs and now I'm out $36 for their mistake? Again this makes no sense financially for Apple. They sell their phones for way less than full retail to AT&T, yet I'm willing to give them full retail. It's never been so hard to give my money away. If you will bear with me, the reason I insist on full price devices and no contracts is precisely b/c of crap like this that AT&T pulls, and every other carrier.

Buyer beware

This morning I went to pick up the wife's 16GB I reserved last night, the only phone they showed in stock for AT&T was 16GB white. When I got there I saw about 6 people lined up outside. I figured these must be the people there to pick up there reserved phones. Nope. They got a big shipment in, all sizes, both colors. These people all had tickets in their hands for an iPhone. I asked of they had any black 32GB in stock for AT&T and the guy hands me a ticket and says, "yeah I have about 10 of those left if you don't mind waiting in the line after you pick up your reserved phone." I asked why they were letting people do walk ins and he said the phones had come in early this morning.

Moral of the story, I didn't have to reserve my phone, I just walked in and got it!

Anyone want to confirm this?

I have a preorder pending from verizon but taking forever. Here's my idea:

Reserve one tonight on a new line (I only have one line currently)
Set up new line for new phone, cancel new line immediately
Transfer phone to current line

That works, right? Anything I'm missing?

Wow you got lucky. I guess the trick is finding out when the shipment comes in. I got a black 16gb a couple days ago through the apple personal pickup but I really wanted a white. I'm going to give the black one to my husband as soon as I get a white but I can't get a white anywhere here in Tampa. I've been on at 10 everyday here and can not get one at all. If anyone knows what days the shipments come in I would so greatly appreciate it!

The employee I spoke with said they get a truck every day except Sunday, and they will occasionally get 2 trucks the same day, but it doesn't happen very often.

Second night in a row with no luck.

Any idea if I'll have luck if I just line up at the store about a half hour before it opens tomorrow? I'm looking for a 16GB black AT&T.

!

It is certainly possible. Apple probably is sending everyone available in Foxconn to go over all the Iphone 5 inventory in the shipping area to make sure that none of the damaged Iphone 5 get send out. It is a lot cheaper and better PR to boot for them to catch those damage phones in the factory than here in US or UK or Germany. They probably also change the manufacturing process to reduce the chance of phone damage. When you add all these up, there will be very few units of Iphones shipped from the factory for a while.

The good news is that those that come out from the factory will look mighty good. For me, I will wait a couple months to see if they figure out what to do with the easily damage piece along the edge. The front and back panels seems to hold up really well but the side is problematic. I am hoping that they will change the manufacturing process to make those antenna harder or at least until someone figure out how to build protector that will protect just side of the phone.

I did that a week ago Sunday and it was a big waste of time. Based on my experience and info from Apple Store employees, Apple Stores DO NOT receive shipments on Sunday. Thus, if you called in on Saturday and they did not have any in stock, it is highly unlikely that they will have any instock the next day (Sunday).

On a side note, I am nearly positive that Apple reserves some phones for people like us looking to reserve phones through personal pickup. Ex: I've called near closing time the night before and asked if they had any iPhones in stock. They said "no." But what do you know... that same night I went online and was able to reserve one for personal pickup and pick it up the next day right at opening... hmmm... apple........ shady... lol.
