I did that a week ago Sunday and it was a big waste of time. Based on my experience and info from Apple Store employees, Apple Stores DO NOT receive shipments on Sunday. Thus, if you called in on Saturday and they did not have any in stock, it is highly unlikely that they will have any instock the next day (Sunday).

On a side note, I am nearly positive that Apple reserves some phones for people like us looking to reserve phones through personal pickup. Ex: I've called near closing time the night before and asked if they had any iPhones in stock. They said "no." But what do you know... that same night I went online and was able to reserve one for personal pickup and pick it up the next day right at opening... hmmm... apple........ shady... lol.

Interesting...thanks for the tip!

So if I went Monday morning would they likely have some? (I'm just confused about what you mean on Sunday deliveries...does that mean they do not receive deliveries on Saturday for Sunday sales, or they don't receive deliveries on Sunday for Monday sales?)

Apple Stores can receive shipments anytime from Monday to Saturday (usually no deliveries after 8:30pm). They do NOT receive shipments on Sunday. Once they receive a shipment, depending on how long they take to inventory them, they may sell them the same day or wait until the next day to sell them. Therefore, it is advisable to call the store you're interested in anytime after 8:30pm the night before you're interested in going. If they say "none in stock" that means that there is no point for you to try to go early the next day to get one. HOWEVER, they may receive a new shipment during the day in which case you are back in the same boat... unless it is SUNDAY where they never receive shipments.

Personal Pick up @ the Keystone Mall Indianapolis

Has anyone had any luck with the personal pickup @ the Keystone Mall Mac store in Indianapolis?

Also, I can't help but feel a little taunted. I have had an order on Apple.com since Sept 15th, yet, no progress. It seems that new iPhones are being delivered all around me while I float in preorder Limbo.

EXACTLY how I felt too, tbh. That's why I went ahead and did the Personal Pickup thing. I felt like one of the few people that REALLY wanted an iPhone 5, and had the means of getting one available to him, but didn't due to an unfulfilled pre-order.

I never saw any stock at the Keystone store in Indy. Luckily we were driving through Ohio this weekend and I found two in Cinci. Picked them up and love them so far. Surely Keystone will get some soon, but if you can't wait and are willing to drive, there have been several stores within a few hours of Indy with stock. I have seen them all over Ohio, in STL, FTW, and Chicago. It's almost like Keystone's stock tracker is broken.

Yesterday I cancelled my order with AT&T. I figured I can get my phone faster ordering it for Apple store pick up. SO last night was my first attempt at getting a 16GB AT&T white. I would settle for black too. Attempt FAILED!! I'll keep trying every night I guess. I would say tonight probably won't be a good night being a Sunday but I'll give it a shot anyway.

Taunted, frustrated, bewildered... Been feeling exactly the same so I come here to make sure others are in the same predicament. :) I occasionally check the reservation system, nothing so far, wouldn't know if I should reserve a phone even if one appears. I keep thinking that at this point anything that comes out of the factory direct to me will be flawless. What to do...

makes sense that they won't get shipments on Sunday since FedEx/UPS/USPS don't normally ship that day :p

I went in the Apple store on friday asked if they had any and they said no. They said I should go online at 10pm and reserve on if they come in i will get notified. So i did that. Saturday morning at 8am I got a text saying my order is ready to be picked up. So was UPS/Fed Ex really there before 8am, or are they just trying to get people to go online and reserve them... Either way I got my phone.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

First attempt, got my 16gb slate/black on Michigan Ave in Chi-town online last night (they had white available also). Picking it up this afternoon. HAPPYDANCE.

Now let's just hope I can figure out how to get home afterwords without my beloved google maps :(

Does anybody have a walk threw on how to do the reservation process?

I know you have to get on between 10pm-4am but do I have to go all the way threw the checkout process and pay for the phone before it will tell me if any local apple stores have them in stock, and then if none do, do I have to wait the 3-4 weeks or will it tell me they can reserve one before I make payment?

Also, how local do they look. I have an apple store about 5 minutes from my house and then I have another one about 20 minutes from my house. Will it look at both?

Yes, you have to go through the whole process but you select store pickup before paying. You can look for stock based on zip code. It will list all surrounding stores even those in neighboring states.

Thanks for the response. Thats perfect because I dont want to pay and then find out that I have to wait 3-4 weeks.

Pretty sure they get the shipment sometime through the day and do nothing with it until they close. Then they update the stock in the computer and we reserve them at 10pm. When they get back in the morning they look at the reservations and put stickers on the boxes with the person's name who reserved it and send out the email saying it's ready for pickup.

Don't waste your time at Radio Shack.I refer you to the RS preorder thread as evidence. Many still haven't received their preorders yet and some stores haven't received more than their initial allotment. My store received 2 of 12-I was 1 of the fortunate 2.
The Apple Store online order at 10pm for next day pickup is the way to go now.

Scored an iphone 5 at RADIO SHACK!!!!! dang..... i've been slaving myself in making a reservation with apple, yet they had one available at radio shack! call radio shack, people!!!

so how does it work if there is not one available for store pickup the next day and you've already paid? what happens then? does it just hold one for the next day, or the day after that, or what happens?

basically since you've paid, and you want one asap in store pickup.

The phone is shipped to the store. If you order online between 10PM and 4AM, you get it the next day. You have a certain amount of time to get it.

well my question is what if they don't get one the next day and i've already ordered and spent the money. it sounds like some peopel on here have tried the reservation, ordered hte phone, and the store didn't have one the next day. so what exactly happens in this instance?

also, what are the time parameters usually to pick it up? i wouldn't be able to pick the phone up before probably 630 at night because of work. are they strict about the timing? what could i do?

If they don't get it for some reason the next day, I highly doubt it would take more than another day or two for the store to receive. After all, it is suppose to be next day pickup.

For picking it up, I've heard 24 hours from when it's ready to pickup but I've also heard a full week and two weeks, so I'm not sure. You'd have to call and ask the store you want to pick it up at.

Reports differ on how long customers will have to pick up their purchased iPhones, with 9to5Mac saying that customers will have "upwards of 2 weeks" while AppleInsider says that customers will have to pick them up the following day or the units will be returned to the pool for purchase by other customers.

The iphone 5 reservation on the apple store in the Uk has been down for a couple of days now saying ;

We’re sorry, but due to limited availability, we are not accepting iPhone reservations at this time. Please try again later.

Bad times !!:(

At what time did you find it? I looked for a white/black 16GB last night at 10 on michigan ave but it was unavailable for pickup -_-

So, what's the consensus about trying to make a reservation tonight? It seems like everyone is saying that Apple stores won't get any stock, but is that a "probably", or a "definitely"? I don't know what I'll do with myself at 10 otherwise, I've been trying at 10pm for a week now.
