I did that a week ago Sunday and it was a big waste of time. Based on my experience and info from Apple Store employees, Apple Stores DO NOT receive shipments on Sunday. Thus, if you called in on Saturday and they did not have any in stock, it is highly unlikely that they will have any instock the next day (Sunday).
On a side note, I am nearly positive that Apple reserves some phones for people like us looking to reserve phones through personal pickup. Ex: I've called near closing time the night before and asked if they had any iPhones in stock. They said "no." But what do you know... that same night I went online and was able to reserve one for personal pickup and pick it up the next day right at opening... hmmm... apple........ shady... lol.
Interesting...thanks for the tip!
So if I went Monday morning would they likely have some? (I'm just confused about what you mean on Sunday deliveries...does that mean they do not receive deliveries on Saturday for Sunday sales, or they don't receive deliveries on Sunday for Monday sales?)
Has anyone had any luck with the personal pickup @ the Keystone Mall Mac store in Indianapolis?
Also, I can't help but feel a little taunted. I have had an order on Apple.com since Sept 15th, yet, no progress. It seems that new iPhones are being delivered all around me while I float in preorder Limbo.

Does anybody have a walk threw on how to do the reservation process?
I know you have to get on between 10pm-4am but do I have to go all the way threw the checkout process and pay for the phone before it will tell me if any local apple stores have them in stock, and then if none do, do I have to wait the 3-4 weeks or will it tell me they can reserve one before I make payment?
Also, how local do they look. I have an apple store about 5 minutes from my house and then I have another one about 20 minutes from my house. Will it look at both?
Yes, you have to go through the whole process but you select store pickup before paying. You can look for stock based on zip code. It will list all surrounding stores even those in neighboring states.
I went in the Apple store on friday asked if they had any and they said no. They said I should go online at 10pm and reserve on if they come in i will get notified. So i did that. Saturday morning at 8am I got a text saying my order is ready to be picked up. So was UPS/Fed Ex really there before 8am, or are they just trying to get people to go online and reserve them... Either way I got my phone.
Scored an iphone 5 at RADIO SHACK!!!!! dang..... i've been slaving myself in making a reservation with apple, yet they had one available at radio shack! call radio shack, people!!!
so how does it work if there is not one available for store pickup the next day and you've already paid? what happens then? does it just hold one for the next day, or the day after that, or what happens?
basically since you've paid, and you want one asap in store pickup.
The phone is shipped to the store. If you order online between 10PM and 4AM, you get it the next day. You have a certain amount of time to get it.
well my question is what if they don't get one the next day and i've already ordered and spent the money. it sounds like some peopel on here have tried the reservation, ordered hte phone, and the store didn't have one the next day. so what exactly happens in this instance?
also, what are the time parameters usually to pick it up? i wouldn't be able to pick the phone up before probably 630 at night because of work. are they strict about the timing? what could i do?
Reports differ on how long customers will have to pick up their purchased iPhones, with 9to5Mac saying that customers will have "upwards of 2 weeks" while AppleInsider says that customers will have to pick them up the following day or the units will be returned to the pool for purchase by other customers.
First attempt, got my 16gb slate/black on Michigan Ave in Chi-town online last night (they had white available also). Picking it up this afternoon. HAPPYDANCE.
Now let's just hope I can figure out how to get home afterwords without my beloved google maps![]()
