Just snagged a black ATT 16 from Germantown, TN.

Says they want me to wait for a Pickup Notification e-mail before I come to the store.

To anyone who has gone through this process - any idea when tomorrow I should expect to receive the pickup e-mail? Will it be soon after the store opens or probably later in the day? Just trying to plan around work, etc....

Same here man. Hopefully I can pick it up by lunch time.

What message did you get from Apple after you ordered? I went through the whole "in store pickup" routine, found one in stock, and ordered it. However, Apple's site makes it look like the normal backorder info I've been seeing this whole time. I'm optimistic, since they charged my credit card moments after placing the new order, but I'm still a bit worried.

I ordered an iPhone 5 for pick up but it says a pick up date of November 8th? I thought it was for next day pick up?

hopeless

Just got off the phone with an apple rep from customer service and he told me that the verizon phones are in such high demand that they can't supply iphones to satiate it. He said that the online reservation system is comparable to "shooting a target in the dark" because there are rarely going to be shipments until late october/early november, AND the shipments are coming from overseas, thus increasing the delay. The verizon website says that they have the phone shipped by 10/26, so my guess is that that would be the best option to go; at least, it's what I plan on doing.
Not saying you should give up, but the chances of getting a Verizon iphone anytime soon are extremely slim; don't waste your time (as I have for the past 5 days).

However, the rep also said that AT&T is on top of their shipments and is more readily available than Verizon, so you AT&T people lucked out :)

Best of luck to you all.

I just got my confirmation...do the apple stores open early for pickup or is it still 10am?

Just got my ready for pick-up confirmation too! Long day at work tomorrow though :(

I think stores are opening at regular hours.

3 days in a row and no verizon phones in the midwest. It's a conspiracy I say between Apple and AT&T. Apple probably front loaded all the shipments to be AT&T.

Apple should start making the iPhone 5s now, so when they release it next September there will be plenty of stock for the 10 million people who want to get one.

Oh well guess I'll try again tomorrow along with calling all the local stores.

That sounds only half true with the information the rep gave you. Why would they put AT&T ahead of Verizon disappointing many Verizon iphone customers every night and make them wait till the end of October just to see one for in store pickup? That's almost 3 weeks away just to see one for in store pickup. Might as well just order it now and have it shipped to you. But seeing as how last week there was some Verizon iPhones in stock, I dot see how this week or the next ones could be any different.

Immediately after placing my order, Apple sent me an e-mail saying that they would send me an e-mail when my phone is ready to be picked up. The tag-line of the e-mail was, "Your Order Is Being Processed."

On the section of their site that talks about ordering online and picking up in-store, they say that most orders, if in stock, are usually ready for pick-up within an hour. So, that leads me to believe that I should be getting the pickup e-mail shortly after they open for business at 10 am tomorrow. Wouldn't make sense for them to send the pickup e-mail any sooner than 10 am tomorrow, since the store will be closed.

You did select for in-store pickup, and the phone you wanted showed to be in-stock, correct?

I got my pickup email at 10:54pm. I wish I could pick it up now. :D

Yes, I selected in store pickup and it was shown in stock. What has me really confused is that that my credit card was charged as soon as the order went through. That never happened when I tried the regular ordering process to have one shipped.

The confirmation email I got right away looks exactly the same as what I got when I tried to order one originally (except for a shipping date even further out).

I'm completely baffled as to what's going on.
