Yeah I see, and that happened a minutes after I 'bought' the item.
But now when I look to my account there is no money difference as you described below.

Wondering if there is any problem with the order :/

They put a temporary freeze on the money and then depending on your bank, it will be unfrozen after a few days. And then when the phone is actually shipped Apple will actually charge you.

For those asking about the overnight store order notification timeline:

Oct 3

22:01 - Received "Your order is being processed." email.

Oct 4

Headed out in a bit to start the 1.5h drive to Polaris. Good luck to everyone.

I think it just depends on the location. Some people have 24/7 stores (if i read it right) and they get the notification about 30 minutes later. Like you, I got mine the next morning around 08:30

pickup

It's only 6:30AM here and I haven't received the email yet, so I guess it'll be another hour or two.

Has anyone tried to reserve one online only to find they're not available, then the next day they still found one in the store?

In other words, the web did not match up to the actual shipment or The shipment came in later in the day, etc.

When I went to pick my reservation up, there was an employee standing in the front of the store with little cards to pass out to walk in stating the model, color, and carrier of phones available to walk in. They were all sprint versions though, but I would assume it was ones left over from the night before.

well, well, well. I finally saw a Black 64 GB phone in my nearest store...no 32gb. and didn't check on the white colors.

I held off as the store is 45-60 minutes away and with work/daycare, etc. a weekday pickup is not too easy.
but nice to see I could have done it.

I believe there are separate inventories for the reservation system and walk in customers.

There may be 10 phones for order online, and 10 for walk-ins.

I want to say they give you 7 days to pick it up.

Can anyone answer this question? -->

If I am able to find one for pickup, and can order etc, would I be able to have a friend pick it up for me and then I could just get it from him?

Could I pay online and take care of everything with AT&T etc?

Basically I live 200 miles from any Apple store, but I have friends in Chicago and STL that I'm sure would help me out if I found one.

I'm just not sure if apple will do that, or if I have to physically be in store since it is a phone upgrade, etc

otherwise im screwed because best buy SUCKS and I ordered over 3 weeks AGO!!:mad:

:apple:The key to it is to start drinking around 6PM. Get good and drunk by 10PM. I tried for a week then I used this method and finally scored one!:apple:

I'm not sure where you are from but the all the Apple stores in Houston told me that there are no phones for walk-in. You have to do the reservation and wait for the pick-up email.

No. They need an "authorized user". Unless you trust him enough to add him to your carrier account. You would want to call your service provider and add him to your account as someone who can make changes

The american reserve system sounds similar to the UK one last year :) I still havent got anything :( try 3 times in 2 different stores.

Has anyone placed an order for next day pickup and NOT gotten an e-mail from Apple that it was ready?

I placed an order for pickup in the Los Gatos store @ 10:15PM PST last night and still haven't gotten the e-mail that says it is ready.
