iPhone 5 Reservation at Apple Store

Alright, this is my first post here but I've been following this thread for a few days now and trying every night to reserve a VZW iPhone 5. I never even saw one available in the state Colorado or Arizona for that matter. I tried both colors and all sizes.
I even called a few Radioshack and VZW stores and no one had one in stock anywhere. The VZW stores told me it would be late October before they had any.
After seeing nothing last night I had pretty much decided to wait it out until they were readily available (I was also interested in the Lumia 920 which they announced today would be an ATT exclusive).
Anyway fast forward to tonight I had a softball game in Westminster, which is a suburb of Denver. I live in downtown, so I'm not usually in that area. After the game I had to stop by a Walmart to pick up some food & drinks for a late season fishing trip I'm going on tomorrow morning. On the way over I decided to call the VZW store in the area as well as the Best Buy. Both told me they were out of stock and had no estimated dates for shipments.
As I was walking through the Walmart I saw the phone section and they didn't even have a poster for the 5, they still had the 4 stuff up. I figured there was no way they would have them. I decided to ask anyway and low and behold they had two 16GB VZW phones in stock, one white and one black. I bought the white one immediately and they told me some guy had actually asked them to hold the other (I wanted white anyway).
Anyway felt like that was an interesting story. It never hurts to ask. Check places that most people don't go to for phones.
The one odd thing was Walmart charged me $699 w/o a contract upgrade, rather than the $649. I may call about that and see if it can be refunded.
EDIT: Someone in the Denver area looking for a black VZW 16GB should probably give them a call. It was the store right off 36th (I think 92nd ave exit). They may still have that one left. I don't think there were any ATT or Sprint phones though.

Im so pissed right now but its my fault. Yesterday got one for wifey no problem, today trying to get one for myself and I get one....except my dumbass selected option to ship with out noticing some how....I think it was the excitement. I called to cancel the order but the hold was already put on my card. Now I'll have to wait a few days for the hold to be removed.....sucks.....darnnit!! Im 2 for 2 though, hopefully I get lucky next time
Apple Store down . . . Maybe they're deciding to add the damn Verizon iPhones! But sadly I must goto bed. It is 12:15 here on the East Coast and I am dead tired. Good luck to all in the Mountain and Pacific zones.

You have to be kidding me. I HAD AN IPHONE 5 at the store -- it was right in front of my eyes! Ready for pickup and everything! But no, they have to inexplicably turn me away and now their online site is down. I'm livid.
