Can I purchase iPhone on contract on apple.com and when I get to the store ask for a refund and pay the out of contract price? I don't want to sign up for a contract.
 
Finally got a 16gb AT&T, wanted black, but only white was available. Of course last night black was available, but I accidentally had it shipped instead:(. Oh well, still happy to finally have one, plus what I hear, black scratches crazy easily.
 
Whoa, I just scored a black 32GB VZW model at my local store! It didn't appear until 10:10pm or so.

Do I really have to pick it up within 24 hours? I don't see anything mentioning that in the email from Apple.

I talked to the guys at the apple store today. When you reserve for personal pickup, you are essentially purchasing the phone, not reserving it. For this reason, they said you technically have 90 days to pick up the phone until they can release it for sale to someone else.
 
I have been checking this thread for the last few days and suffering like most VZW customers but I can happily say I ordered a black 32GB Verizon in Knoxville, TN. Was at about 10:05pm and it looked like there was availability at least over most of the South.
 
Got a 32GB white in SC ....pick up Sat...... the phone is for my wife but my line is up for a upgrade....will they transfer the upgrade to her life after I buy it?

Lexington *still* has a 32g vzw in stock. Big change seeing so much vzw availability after the week it's been. There must have been a pretty big shipment in the last day or so.

No kidding. I was starting to lose hope with the way this week has been. I actually tried right at 10pm and again saw the "Unavailable for pickup". I figured it was just another failed night but I just had this feeling that I should check one more time and BOOM...In stock.
 
How long do you have to pick up the phone?
Apparently the pick-up notification email you receive says you have 24 hours to pick it up, but according to pruppert's post above yours, they will actually still hold it for you.

That's why I was asking about it; I can go to the store tomorrow but it would really be much more convenient if I can wait until later next week.
 
Good luck guys. I picked up my iPhone 5 tonight. Porting numbers in the AM. AT&T makes Sprint's service seem pitiful in my area. And the device... It's so light. :cool:
 
For those that have had units show as available some time after 10pm, can you tell me if we can just keeping hitting refresh to see if anything becomes available or do need to basically start over to keep checking? Thanks!
 
Has anyone on here not had an iPhone waiting for them the next day after successfully reserving one?

One guy said that happened to him. Seems the magic email in the am is the key, once you get that you should be good to go.
 
I'm a little confused,,so I purchased a 32gb and now I want a 64gb I'm in NYC, so what's my best shot? Return and reserve?
