Riddle me this.....
How is it that every night at 10pm local time, all the Apple stores (or some) magically get in a batch of iPhones? Yet there are people who have been waiting weeks to get their phone they ordered??

Seems to me Apple should be fulfilling those orders before making phones available each night. They claim to be on backorder however phones show up at the stores daily.... hmmmm

Stores cost money to operate and offer the ability to sell high margin accessories

I picked up my 5 yesterday and bought 2 lightning cables as well

Every night its different...got a white at 10:02 the other day and yesterday I was able to get one at 10:01.....picked shipped by mistake but tonight I got it correct ...FINALLY got my black 16gb att from the fifth ave store!!!

I found available phones for pickup last night in my local area. Of course they were gone within minutes.

My question is this....I had to add a line with AT&T in order to get the 5. So its on order and still waiting. If I were to find another one online tonight for next day pickup how do I do it? Apple site makes me add my current number which is primary on the account, (not available for upgrade). So it forces me to pay the "no contract" price. If I enter my new added line phone number it gives an error.

So once a phone is on order with AT&T or whoever....how do I get a phone via the Apple store?

I finally got a 16GB black VZW in North Carolina.

Got discouraged as the minutes clicked past 10, but I kept refreshing. At about 10:04, the greyed out "Unavailable" listings changed to green availables.

Advice to future buyers, keep refreshing for several minutes past 10pm.
