AAHhhhh. Here come the case rumors. Just like the last release, and right on time.

I hope this is the new one. Tim can show it off as the same aspect ratio and make a joke like "Same aspect ratio for developers, we wouldn't want to just make it bigger one way!"

Anyway, the current model (4/4S) is also sensitive to scratches in it's back. There won't be much of a difference. People are always using covers anyway.

the glass used in the iPhone is more scratch resistant than the aluminum back shell of the iPad - which is why i had the concern about scratches if the iPhone 5 went with an aluminum shell. but like we both said, most iPhone owners use a case or cover of some sort

That would be soooo good. I am already tired of waiting for September 12...

These leaks being wrong inadventently made me a couple of grand. The morning of the real 4S announcement, the word hit the streets that we were NOT getting this form factor and just the 4S. Apple stock dropped a lot. I bought a modest amount of shares that day. It's gone up 60% since then. Boo yah! Enough to pay for a new 5 for me and my wife (plus an iPad mini) when they come out, whatever it looks like...

Oh so I guess renders hold more weight than parts that ACTUALLY physically leaked. Yeah. Makes sense.

Believe allllll the renders and not the physical parts shown in videos....

so i guess we are going to believe a 1 year old "leak"

cant understand u people some times. why would this year old case hold more water than all the current leaks. lol

This was bs last year, and it's bs now. Just wait till it gets announced.

Ha, ha, last years leaks are just as good as this years. :D

READ. THE. ORIGINAL . POST.

Good God, folks.

Anyone looking to case makers for clues will be left depressed.

There is a reason cases take a couple of weeks or months to show up after release...Case makers don't have a damn clue.

Here was the physical mockup made from the case dimensions...for those interested

If i recall, they claimed with a 4" screen.

If true, this will be terrific. I'll buy two.

One for my wife & one for me.

Looks like a normal height - width ratio.

What a great model that would be.

Wow people.

#1. Read the article date. September 2011.
#2. These are the leaks from last year that never materialized. The 4S was released instead.

Now... those of you still holding out some glimmer of hope that the "long iPhone" is fake... you guys need to face it... the 4"... "tall iPhone" is what we are getting this year.

Last year... those case-mate designs for the "iPhone 5" NEVER had leaked parts at all. Not one leaked part. It was all speculation fueled by these case manufacturers. The only parts that leaked were for the 4S.

This year we have had not only rumors about the "tall iPhone", but also leaked parts. This is the real deal. Time to face reality people.

THIS IS THE NEXT iPHONE!

i think most of us would prefer this design because:

1) the design is so Apple, unlike the iPhone 4/4S which i like to.
2) the aluminum back is very sexy and makes the iPhone belong to the rest of the Apple products like the iPads and Macs.

i don't see why Apple wouldn't go for this design, maybe technically it's not possible?

Edit: i'm taling about the case-mate design above not the ugly design above we are getting this year.

If true, then its a 4th Nexus phone for me this Fall :). At this rate I just don't see Apple pulling me back again. I loved the iPhone 1 and iPhone 3G, but since then it just looks and feels more of the same, year after year.

At least with a Nexus phone, I know the next release will be completely different size and design, a nice surprise, which I look forward to each year. The iPhone has become way too predictable and stale.

Guys I promise... This is a pipe dream. To have multiple people all have multiple leaked pieces that all match up is in itself more than coincidence.

Secondly, from the looks of the leaked case, it's made from billet aluminum in a unibody type process. The amount of detail inside with all the mounts, holes etc is very very difficult to do. This isn't some mom and pop shop cnc machine. It's got to be flipped and rotated and shaved down in all sorts of ways to get this result. Just the numerous mounts that are involved to accomplish this are extraordinarily expensive.

Finally, the tolerances of the holes for the new home buttons and switches etc, are less than fractions of a millimeter difference. These are MAJORLY EXPENSIVE CNC's that did these. The video yesterday showing the different faceplates revealed that the 4S home button is just SLIGHTLY larger than the new home button. Like thinner than a human hair difference.

There is NO WAY Apple would have full production runs of MULTIPLE pieces that all fit perfectly together just to play with people. And there is no way a simple prankster could afford it.

I promise, the fit and finish of these leaks is WAAAY above a decoy. This phone is coming out next month, they are WELL into production...

Makes sense. So much for Tim Cook doubling down on leaks :( So looks like Apple going the safe route, no more innovation or artistic designs, the iPhone is a cash cow, and has investors to please.

Nexus-Four here I come. I hope we get leaks of the new Nexus couple months before release, like this iPhone4.5.. Is cool to see the new design way ahead of the official announcement

Sure, that could be true; it's possible and a common lament these days, but you understand that you've now pigeon-holed your definition of "innovation" into only being about aesthetics right?

If you buy your phones purely on that qualification, by all means, go buy your Nexus or GSIII or whatever. It's your hard-earns cash and your freedom of choice. However, for you to assume that Apple is no longer innovating soley on the basis it's case, is at best, ignorant; I won't say what it is at worst.
