Sure, that could be true; it's possible and a common lament these days, but you understand that you've now pigeon-holed your definition of "innovation" into only being about aesthetics right?

Don't even get me started on the much outdated and stale looking iOS. They can redesign the phone itself to look completely different, but if still running the same old iOS, it doesn't look new to me at all. iOS6 is just more of the same, and overall looks the same as from 2007.

- Home screen with app drawer left open style  LOL welcome to 2007.

- The Fischer-Price toy theme throughout the phone, the same since it launched fiver years ago, is extremely kiddy and lame looking already.

- No Widgets on the home screen yet ? At least allow it as an option, and let the user decide if they want them or not. If you don't like Widgets on your home screen, don't use them, but others might like the option.

- 4" taller, but not wider screen LOL LOL :rolleyes: Epic fail. Apple need to go 4.3" and be both wider and taller, that would be spot on perfection.

- App icons the same for five years now, LOL. Come on Apple, try something fresh and cool like you used to. I would love a Windows Phone "live" app icon, allow the weather icon to show today's' true temperature, and have it picture cloudy if raining. But no, it always shows 73 degrees and sunny, even if it is freezing winter time, that is very outdated for 2012.

I understand your issues with IOS, and they're not uncommon ones. Thing is, I just find it odd that first, you talk about how awful and horrible and lazy and uninnovative the new aesthetics allegedly are, but then when you get called out, you talk about how horrible the software is.

If you really thought the software was such a train wreck, why would you even consider the new iPhone in the first place? Would the design really make a differnce for you? Why not just go about your merry way?:)

My beef is with both the design and OS.

- #1; I think it is extremely lazy and shows zero innovation to just make the iPhone5 a stretched out iPhoine4/4S. I have always admired Apple for their artistic deign, and bringing to market fresh original products, not more of the same three years in a row. I am surprised and disappointed by this.

- #2; iOS6 overall still looks and feels like iOS from 2007, sure it has all the stuff it stole from Android the last couple of years, but the main looks and feel just screams outdated to me, in major need of an overhaul.

I was expecting both a brand new designed iPhone with larger screen this year, and I thought iOS6 was supposed to be completely redone and be radically different, that was rumors last year after iOS5 was previewed, that the next iOS version would have major changes and whole different look and completely new UI. I guess that got delayed till iOS7 ?

I will still buy an iPhone5 if it at least has these features, but looks doubtful;
- 4.3'' Screen size, both taller and wider.
- Allow Widgets on home screen
- LED Notification light on the front

I loved this design when it first was leaked last year, and I still love it now. I was disappointed last year when we got just a 4S and I THINK I'll be dissappointed with the stretched version this year. I pray we get this! But the only thing making me think we're not is that we haven't seen a single leak to support it. Unless Tim is some kind of genius and his "doubling down on secrecy" quote was the real deal. If we get this beauty in September, it would shock the entire industry. But I refuse to be let down by this design once again this year. I was POSITIVE that we were getting this last year once case mate leaked those cases. And it was a bad feeling when the keynote was over. So I'm gonna just wait until September this time. No hopes or anticipation. Well, maybe a little. Damn apple!!

sounds like you should look into jailbreaking...

If its SUCH a big deal and Apple is SO lazy and the OS is SO horrible, just get a different phone. The end. Not hard.

Sounds like you're in the market for an Android phone.

But why ? If I want a larger screen, and Widgets, why is Android the only smartphone to offer that ? I would like Apple to offer that, and do it better. At least give us the option to run widgets on the home screen if we prefer, I know they have them in the notification center, allow us to control where we want them.

The small screen size, is #1 reason keeping me away from the iPhone the last few years.

I had the first two iPhone's. LOVED them, then I got the Nexus bug, and have bought all three Nexus phones the past three years now. I would have to say the Nexus-S at 4", felt very comfortable in the hand, easy to operate, but I always felt it was just a hair too small, and now I have the Galaxy-Nexus, love this phone, but then I feel it's 4.65" is just a bit too large. I truly believe the best size for a smartphone is 4.3", right in the middle sizing of the Nexus-S and Galaxy-Nexus.

If Apple goes with this strange stretched out elongated 4" size, NO way will that tempt me back. I am still holding out that Apple will surprise us, not release the phone being leaked currently, and go with the 4.3" screen size I heard rumors about last year from LG. We really won't truly know until Tim Cook walks on stage with the new iPhone.

Because Apple isn't concerned with what YOU want.

Obviously, and that is why Android is gaining more and more each year. with Apple you get it the way they think is best for you. No options or customizations allowed. Unless Jailbreaked, that is a different story.

I think you need an android phone then and enjoy your time at phandroid.com

If you aren't happy, do something different.

Good lord, I hope that's not it. Cannot stand buttons and ports on an angled surface.

I hope you are right about this. If Tim presents the current taller only design, there's going to be hissing and groaning throughout the Apple stratosphere, lol.

This has been apple from the start, why do you think you it will be otherwise?

Yeah I guess a man can dream. I could just see the iPhone being even better than it already is, and could kill Android, if they maybe offered two different sizes to choose from.

Been with Android the past three Nexus phones, and I get bored quickly with my phones, might go back to the iPhone just for a change, but only once there is a Jailbreak available for the new iPhone. Typically how long after release can we expect the first jailbreak to come out ? If it is released end of September like planned, are we looking at a couple of months for the first jailbreak ? Or sooner ?

You were bored with Android, yet iOS is somehow more open and flexible?

Mind=blown

I only have a limited time with Android, but I think that a jailbroken iPhone smokes Android at the software level. Yeah android has NFC and stuff like that, but I think iOS with some tweaks is a lot nicer, software wise.

I like android, but I don't know if I'm ready to commit to it as my main phone. Their app selection is horrendous. And it's not categorized properly, not even close. It's way to easy to download (and pay for) apps that are not compatible with your device.

A Jailbreaked iPhone is easily on par with a rooted Android, if not better. Now a stock iPhone, there is no way in hell I could use one of those, but jailbreak opens it up so much more, and for a tech geek is a requirement.

Not even close. Jailbroken iOS is on par with stock Android.

This is silly. There is NO way last years rumor will be the new iPhone. The reason I say this is there is NO way they can have a cellular antenna in an all aluminum back case. There has to be some plastic or glass somewhere for the cellular/gps/bluetooth/wifi. That is why there are the glass bands on the top and bottom of the new rumored design. Keep dreaming if you think a smaller iPad design will be used for the next iPhone....
