What the **** does this mean (in the UPS Tracking)?

Mount Hope, ON, Canada 10/23/2012 12:01 The sender has requested a delivery time that is later than the service commit time for that area / Delivery rescheduled

Note that mount hope is only a transit point/hub en route to the final destination much like a canadian louisville.

ME too, I got an EXCEPTION where the in transit sign was. Hopefully it is good news.

This sounds like terrible news. I'm on the phone with Apple and by the sounds of it (though no one has flat out said it), Apple is forcing UPS to hold it until Apple's delivery date next week even though it is many days early and could be here tomorrow.

The guy on the phone from Apple tried to convince me it would take UPS 6 days to deliver a package between Mount Hope (Toronto) and Ottawa. I had to laugh and ask for his supervisor. I can provide them a half dozen tracking numbers of other packages from Apple I've received that transited mount hope to Ottawa overnight.

EDIT: The supervisor acknowledges that something is not right and is calling UPS.

Please let me know what happens from this..

Mine made it from China on Friday all the way to Mount Hope (Toronto delivery) and now it's gotten an exception:

The sender has requested a delivery time that is later than the service commit time for that area / Delivery rescheduled

WTF?! What bothers me even more though is that it's not scheduled for delivery until this Friday..

Edit: Mike, I think maybe our phones were chillin with each other.. Did yours follow the same path?

I'm also getting this message. The scheduled delivery date is still for this Thursday, which is the earliest delivery day that Apple promised when I ordered it. Hopefully it doesn't arrive later than this as it is already at Mount Hope.

My order shipped today. I am very happy to be getting my phone soon. Delivery date is the 29th.

xero, I spent a good 30 minutes on the phone with Apple, apparently they called UPS and everything. Basically:

1) UPS told them it will be delivered any time between today and the 29th, even though the UPS delivery standard for mount hope to any major city in canada is 1 business day and to Toronto, in your case, is same day

2) UPS can't explain what the exception is and has no idea what happened.

3) The only thing Apple can do for me is ask UPS to hold it for pickup but they said it might be Oct 29 + 3 business days before it is ready and obviously I said no to that.

I told apple that all of this is completely unacceptable and to make sure that they log the call so that there's a record when I call them back after talking to UPS.

Sooooo I called UPS again and now they're saying that the reason it is delayed is because my package is a part of a "bulk shipment" and is scheduled to deliver to my address on Oct 29 and there is nothing they can do. I told them that it doesn't make any sense either and now I'm going to call Apple again and bitch at them some more. I should add that my tracking looks identical to yours line for line Xero, likely the same with anyone else in Ontario receiving an iPhone in the next few days.

Thanks for the update Mike.

I'm actually on hold with Apple. The person is speaking to a senior supervisor now. I'm guessing I'm not going to get very far though.

Appreciate your effort.

I just though of something.. Do you think because you're in Ottawa, they're releasing the packages from Mount Hope on say Thursday, which would allow mine to be delivered for Friday, at which point they'll put yours on a truck to go up to Ottawa (hence the Monday delivery)? That really sucks if that's the case!

Talking about iPhone 5 to start iPad Mini event...and it's demand.

EDIT: Didn't say anything about supply constraints...

You're welcome! Please let me know if you get anywhere with Apple. I'd love to know if there's some way to fix this. Honestly, I have no idea why they're doing this. I wish I could say you might get it for Friday, but the way I understand it is that for some stupid reason, Apple has told UPS to hold everything for everybody and only deliver on the 29th. Even worse, Apple customer service seems to have no knowledge of this. I'd understand if this was iPhone launch day and they didn't want people to get phones early, but it's not, we've already been waiting a month for this order to ship. It is despicable to make us wait longer when the phones are just sitting in a UPS warehouse minutes or hours away. UPS is fully capable of delivering these to us today or at worst tomorrow. Apple is pleading ignorance and as much as I hate UPS, I cannot believe that UPS decided to hold things out-of-the-blue. It must have been something Apple when shipping the packages.

I'm waiting for 2 iphones and so I have two tracking numbers. The first one actually changed back to green status, and passed the import scan. Scheduled delivery date is still Thursday.

What does your scheduled delivery date state on UPS? Where are they getting the 29th? Frustrating...

My UPS tracking page still says the 29th. It is attached to this post.

The main argument I had with Apple is that I've received dozens of packages from UPS, including many from Apple, and all of them going to Ottawa through Mount Hope (Toronto/Hamilton) have got here the next day! I don't care what their reason is because whatever it is, it is artificial and there is no need for it. I told them it is terrible, terrible customer service to make your customers wait 6 days arbitrarily for no good reason after they waited a month for the damn thing to ship in the first place.

There's NO way this date is coming from UPS. Their own website clearly says 1 business day between mount hope and ottawa. It is something Apple gave to UPS even if they won't admit it.

Mine just shipped. UPS says product (shipping method?) is "WORLD EASE" and it will deliver Monday 10/29. What is world ease?

WORLD EASE isn't actually a UPS shipping method, it's more of an add-on by the looks of it. It's a service they sell for big companies for clearing packages through customs and charging the sender instead of the receiver for it. If you look on the right, it should say the actual UPS service. As far as I know, they are all UPS Worldwide Expedited which is 3-5 business days from anywhere in the world and typically shorter to North America.

Just googled myself and got to the same answer. Thanks. Here's hoping it arrives sometime this week despite the estimates!

Exactly! My iphones have the same updates as yours, meaning they left Apple at the same time and are in the same batch. The only difference is that my scheduled delivery date is this Thursday, which has been there from the start. I live in Mississauga and from previous experience it should take no longer than a day to get from Mount Hope to my door step.

Also as I said in the delivery estimate by Apple, Thursday was the earliest date so there is no reason for Apple to hold it. And even if it wasn't why in the world wouldn't you want the phones to be delivered earlier than you estimated.

The only reason I can think of is if people that ordered before us are just getting their phones this week?
