The strange thing about this picture is the packaging. I've actually never seen this type of packaging in a corporate store location at all. The generic packaging we use usually has some variation of orange on it. And trust me, I've been back in the inventory room almost every day the new shipments arrive hoping to be surprised by a new case or something. I'm thinking the picture must be an authorized retailer or something, but I'll keep on the lookout at work.

Some coworker's and I were actually laughing at this kind of stuff the other day. The day of the story that AT&T was blocking off vacations for the launch of the iPhone 5 were flying all over the net, we actually knew nothing about it. Come to think of it, we still haven't received an email or notification that the time period is off. And neither have any of my friends working at different stores either. The only verification I've seen with my own eyes that a new iPhone is coming at all is the fact that we received notice a week ago that iTunes on the store computers would be upgraded to a new version pretty soon. Guess we will all find out next week!

This def makes me optimistic of a newly designed iPhone, but I'm not going to get too excited, yet.

I have to think though, with everything that sort of "plagued" the iPhone 4 – from the attenagate to the glass back, you wouldn't think that Apple doesn't want to relive that all over again. Can they really afford to go another 10-12 months with the exact same hardware?

Also, people are seeming to consider android more and more, and you must not forget that when Apple released the 3GS, it was PRE-Nexus One. They were almost "blindsided" in a sense and thought they could get away with an incremental upgrade. I think things are A LOT different now and that hardware re-iterations need to happen much more often. Just look at iPad vs iPad 2.

I guess we'll find out on Tuesday!

So when your in a meeting or the movies and you forgot to silence your phone you have to take take it out of your pocket and turn it on and navigate to an area to mute it? I don't see that happening, sorry, that would be a very stupid move.

Plus, who snaps a picture with their left hand? If they wanted it to be a shutter button they would have left it on the left. So yea, I agree with you!

Hmm... this opens up the (slight) possibility of an immediate or very quick launch.

There's no way this is for an iPod touch. Why would it be in ATT stores? Plus, there aren't any rumors of a Touch redesign.

The iPhone 5 will be flawless and you naysayers will deal.

All the ugly mockups based on this case (if it is real) make me worry.
Apple, please do not screw up your design. Give us a elegantly designed iphone 5.

Sorry guys this is a case for an iPod Touch update. Just like all the other "tear drop" cases that rumor sites flame as iPhone 5.

who cares if this is for a touch anyway (despite the fact that at&t doesn't see touches, the cases say iPhone 5, etc). Id be pumped if it was. Apple would never re-do the iPod touch to outshine its biggest product. If these are touch cases that only means the iPhone will be just as, if not nicer.

Now go have some gingerbread and an ice cream sandwich!

The iPad2 case was also leaked early and it was real.

What's your point? We have seen legitimate cases in the past, but there is concrete evidence that contradicts the idea of a redesigned fifth generation iPhone. The iPad 2 being real, and this case being available in an AT&T store isn't any more confirmation than we already had.

I wonder if Apple gave dimensions to case manufacturers to ensure there is a wide selection of cases available for launch? Its true, and Apple even said that phones with cases get better reception. The iPhone 4 didn't launch with many cases and might have been SLIGHTLY the reason for signals reported worse than the 3GS....?

No, so far theres only concrete evidence to support a 4S. Lack of evidence is not, in itself, evidence of a lack of something. With the gizmodo iPhone 4 debacle, I'm sure Apple went to borderline paranoid lengths to hide a redesign this huge.

"....despite the growing feeling that Apple may not be releasing such a device and instead releasing only the "iPhone 4S" design that is nearly identical to the iPhone 4"

you're kidding right? The only "evidence" that there is not an iPhone 5 is that the 4S was the only thing in the Apple inventory-- which is dumb because that makes perfect sense. The 4S is not a big deal, not a secret. The iPhone 5 is big enough of a secret it WON't be in the computer!

I don't know why you guys and 9 to 5 mac are so convinced there won't be an iPhone 5.

Actually, I believe the main evidence was that there were no part leaks for the iPhone 5, while there were quite a few for the 4S. Part leaks are one of the most reliable indicators of upcoming Apple products.

That said I'm very hopeful about this. If it's like we've been seeing, it's a beautiful design.

This is pretty cool, looking like maybe just maybe an outright upgrade for me this time. Hopefully the international release isn't too delayed and hopefully Vodafone NZ doesn't cock it up quite as much as last time!

Then again, AT&T could have just as little idea as the rest of us :(.

Concrete evidence? Link please?

It's as closed to 100% confirmed at it can possibly be without it actually being released that the next iPod touch is going to be a minor update. So no.

Shyster is as shyster does.

Maybe those are accessories from an indirect AT&T third party retailer because real AT&T stores have nice packaging, and look nothing like that.

I'm gonna say thats a camera button on the right. They will make the mute pure software only. The button on the right side of the phone will be the camera shutter button. You heard it here first!

No camera button- in iOS 5 the volume down button is a camera button.

The packaging says "Cell Phone" on it.

THERE WILL BE iPHONE 5

My brother in law works for a company that deals with Sprint Business Marketing Managers. He asked the manager today if Sprint is getting any iPhone, and he told him that Sprint was getting the iPhone 4 ANDDDD the iPhone 5.

I GUARANTEE THERE WILL BE AN iPhone 5.

There is a great deal of circumstantial evidence that, perhaps overly simplistic, means one of two things: there is not a redesign or Apple has done better than ever in keeping it under wraps.

There has been no "concrete" evidence.
Evidence of a 4S model is in no way evidence of a lack of a 5 model.

Well said.

I'm not sure that this really proves anything. Would you REALLY believe AT&T reps/stores for your information regarding an iPhone launch.

Lol Rude! Some of us do try to keep up with the most up to date information so we can provide our customers with good advice, you know. We aren't all there to make a buck dude.....For what it's worth though, I have my doubts that this is from an actual corporate AT&T store just based off the packaging. Could be wrong though, as you seem to think most of us are.....
