What if the cases are for the new iPod touches with 3g? Just saying, since there is that rumor of 3g being in the new touches, what if those cases are for the 3g iPod touch?

No way there's only going to be a "4s". You all show the leaked parts of the "4s" and say that it's the only phone coming out. It is IMPOSSIBLE that is true. Why you might ask? Because no way apple spends a year and a half and doesn't have more than a gb of ram, a better camera and an a5 chip. No way they screw us original iPhoners, 3GSers and now iPhone 5ers over again! They made a huge mistake with the 4 being leaked so I'm sure they went to great lengths to keep the redesigned iPhone under complete wraps. They obviously don't care as much if the parts of the "4s" is leaked because it's not what we care about...they're hiding the actual iPhone 5 from us so we will be all eyes on October fourth! Nuff said

Apple is pretty smart to control these kind of leaks. Unless they are doing it in purpose to create hype. If that's the case then it's working.
Anyway, just announce this damn thing. My 3G iPhone cannot handle it anymore.

this guy ^^^^ right up there^^ has a pretty good argument.
It could be that im just anticipating a redesign too much, but something tells me that we have a new form factor on its way.
I wonder if the apple higher-ups are reading this and thinking "damn, we really are THAT good"

re higher expectations generated just from these photos
with all the higher expectations here for the sexy ip5 - i will feel sorry for you folks if aapl reveals a phone calling it an ip5 yet still have the same ip4 form factor and same screen size
a sad day indeed if that happens
just like 95% of blind dates turn out less the our wildest sexiest expectations
though it would be cool if tim cook reveals an ip4s (low cost) - then steve jobs appears and saying "just one more thing.." and whips out the sexy ip5 that has been dreamed about, rendered and mocked up - and finally appears to even have anti gravity powers floating across the stage...

Lol I was thinking the same thing...I was worried at first of not getting a redesign, but when you really think about it, plus with this case evidence. I'm pretty confident that "tear-drop" design, which I think is super sexy, will come to fruition. I love Apple
And their innovation, no way they're gonna let us down this time, they always have something tricky up their sleeves!

in saying that, if the tapering isn't too significant...shouldn't be a problem.
Just additional evidence of a redesigned next gen iPhone.
One thing that stood out in the forums for the mock-up is that so many people keep saying these mock-ups look awful and they hope it looks the same as the iPhone 4.
It sounds to me like these people are just trying to feel better about their past purchase. They have an iPhone 4 and don't want to feel like their phone sucks in comparison so they are against it. And they seem to be ignoring the obvious problem of such a fragile device with an antenna problem.
Also, this is the exact same thing that has happened with the iPhone 4! People were saying "oh glass on both sides is so fragile, Apple would never do that!" But look at what these people are saying now. So all these people saying that need to shut up.
Face it, whatever the fifth generation iPhone looks like and whatever it does, you will all love it. It happens time after time.
That is just a mock-up and will look different from a re-designed iPhone 5, but I think people, for whatever reason, seem to think it will look EXACTLY like that.
Personally, I don't know what will come out on the 4th. Whether or not it is a redesign, I think it will be called the iPhone 5. They wouldn't say "Here's the new A5 chip, here's the new iOS 5 operating system, here's the new iPhone 4S." That would just be stupid. The 3GS lined up the numbers, they wouldn't mess it up. So if it is the same design or a new design, it will be called the iPhone 5.
But I don't care too much, I will be getting one either way. If there is a redesign there will be a larger screen. Which most likely means lower piel density. Other than that, a redesign doesn't mean anything because they will put the 8MP camera, A5, and 1GB RAM in whatever phone comes out.
The up side to there being no redesign is that you will have more cases to choose from at the start.
I think you are thinking the tapered design will be as tapered as a MacBook Air. And in that case, you are completely wrong. It would be awkward if it was a MAJOR taper. If it is a major taper, less room for components and the iPhone 4 is stuffed enough as is. If there is a redesign, the taper will be EXTREMELY minimal. It will still lay flat on a table, much like the iPad 2 does even with its round curves.
Their best selling mobile devices are the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Two of which now have curved edges and I think Apple likes uniformity. Don't associate these kinds of curved edges with the ones on the iPhone 3G/3GS because those are totally different. I am talking about curved edges, like the iPad 2, that allow for the device to lay flat on a flat surface.
