I want it in late June, early July at the most. This Autumn rumor is really peeing me off. Think I may even queue up for this one. Actually I won't. There'll be local press at the Apple Store and the last thing I need is to be caught on film standing in line like a total douche with a bunch of other douches!

this doesn't contradict loop insight at all.

they said no iPhone 5 at WWDC. This is saying iPhone 5 is coming shortly after WWDC.

arn

God this is the best news of tonight, i can finally get rid of my iPhone 3G.
June will be amazing.

So.. iOS 5 (which is rumored to be a total revamp), A5 Dual Core CPU, upgraded GPU, larger screen, NFC, and a tweaked design yet same form factor. I'm really liking the sound of this.

There were rumors a while ago that the new chip maker would continue making the older the A4 chips, while Samsung the A5's. My guess is that there will be two new iPhones. One very similar to the iPhone 4 without the glass back as the cheaper model. And the all new 4" screen A5 iPhone with a somewhat higher price tag than today's iPhone 4.

Every year, new iPhone around June.

Why would it be otherwise?

They might not have had time to perfect something they want to include? Or the Earthquake in Japan might mean they're short on certain parts for it. Or any number of factors could play into it.

Personally Im thinking it'll be the A5 Processor, same amount of RAM, 8MP Camera. Same design with some minor tweaks. Possibly offering a 64GB version.

Dare I say Black AND White versions?

Im more interested in hearing what iOS 5 will be like.

why does it make you a douche to wait in line for one of the most coveted devices in the world so you dont have to wait weeks to get it??? I for one wont do it, but i dont blame those who do...im just going to order ASAP so i dont have to wait weeks to get it

Only Apple and Foxconn know for sure when iPhone 5 will be released. Anyone else is merely speculating to spread FUD and to manipulate Apple's share price. The iPhone 5 will get to consumers whenever Foxconn finishes producing them in quantity enough for initial distribution, whatever that number may be. ;)

Verizon Phone, iOS5 not being ready, Tsunami in Japan putting supplies into a shortage, take your pick.

What does Verizon have to do with the millions of people waiting for an iPhone outside US?
In fact, aren't most people holding out from getting the iPhone 4 on Verizon and AT&T for iPhone 5?

Pretty sure iOS 5 is ready since they're advertising it for WWDC '11

Tsunami makes sense though, but i highly doubt it'll postpone the iPhone 5.
Keep in mind people said the iPad 2 wouldn't be released until September as well.

Apple wants people to buy now

I don't know when the real release date will be for iPhone 5, but I don't think Apple wants people to know the real date. If people think September, more people will buy the iPhone 4 now. Misinformation should be likely for the next few months as they try to get people to buy phones now as they need them. The folks that are already out of contract and willing to wait til Sept will be happy if it comes out in June, but having people stop buying phones from April to June is not what Apple wants.

Not the Apple way

Launch FIRST abroad? Nope. That itself voids the entire "rumor."

When has Apple launched a flagship product abroad BEFORE launching it in the States?

Horrible rumor. Maybe it's still April 1st in Korea?

And I would be surprised if Apple released the iPhone 5 without a second-gen LTE chip (since they said first gen stuff was not power efficient enough, which I can understand). Why release two product generations before going to LTE ? (assuming iPhone 6 would be the next possible intro of LTE)

It's to Apple's benefit to release a dual mode phone (LTE/GSM) to save on manufacturing; we just don't know the cost of production or which chipset they could get in volume that has LTE/GSM/CDMA. Someone should do an analysis and find the most power efficient chip that's ready for mass production.

And I don't think Apple is the type of company to feel pressured by history, i.e. "we've been releasing a new product every year, so we HAVE to release a new product every year." More like John Carmack, "It'll be ready when it's ready," because people will still buy Apple and not enough would defect to hurt Apple's bottom line.

A customer is a customer whether they buy a phone in April or July

I wish...

...and hope springs eternal. But I think this is a pipe dream. Apple is already breaking with tradition (if, in fact, the "no hardware at WWDC" rumor is true). And then there are those pesky "Apple has not yet ordered the parts for the iPhone 5" rumors that (if true) scream "delay."

The problem for Apple here is that they're gonna have to release something that matches or exceeds the multiple Android devices that are scheduled for release this year. I'm an iOS guy, and I love iPhones, but c'mon--the new Samsung Galaxy S2 is a sweet looking phone. And the Thunderbolt is killing at Verizon right now (or so I hear).

Apple has always risen to the challenge, and I look forward to their offering this year.

If I don't upgrade to an Android phone first. ;)

There were rumors she was into field hockey players....

Sorry, anytime someone starts out a sentence with "there were rumors...", I get a litle Pixies nostalgia.

Apple STICKS to their major plans / release schedules. They don't care about what competitors are doing. I believe they are rarely surprised. Superhuman? No. Infallible? No. Confident in themselves and meticulous in their planning/execution? Absolutely.

Apple's invitations for WWDC said the future of Mac OS X and iOS will be the focus. So, why would Apple not also show off the new hardware that will take optimal advantage of the new software?!

iPhone 5 WILL be revealed at WWDC and avail for purchase very end of 3rd week of June or sometime during 4th week.
iOS 5 will be previewed at WWDC, though does not need to be available by iPhone 5's release.
Rather, iOS 5 will likely be released at same time as Lion (also previewed at WWDC) later in the summer.
Finally, I bet Apple TV running iOS 5 will also be shown with ability to access App Store winning the battle for the living room.

We've heard rumors of a metal back for iPhone 5...I'll also bet iPhone 5's metal back and frame is made using alloys from LiquidMetal...have we all forgotten that little licensing deal? Thin, lightweight but extraordinarily durable. Steve will be able to once again declare it is the thinnest, lightest phone available...beating their own previously released product once again.

After WWDC, you're welcome to slam away if I'm wrong. The only question I have remaining...besides having maybe slightly better cameras and slightly faster speed, what else could they possibly build into the iPhone to make it magically amazing and a must have for iPhone 4 owners?! Also, when's the iCar coming with an augmented reality windshield for weather, traffic, and navigation? ;-)

they are half right about a summer release

It's not an iPhone 5, but instead the white iPhone 4 coming this summer.

- iPhone 4 just came out for Verizon
- Availability for white iPhone 4 parts on gray market steadily keeps increasing
- Apple is both changing their release schedule for iPhone (release near xmas with other updated devices), and possibly giving more time to get through the rumored manufacturing issues

And as much as I love Apple, this is the thing that annoys me. Is it a good business model? I suppose. But some of the other companies announce their product offerings months in advance (albeit without release dates or prices), just so their customers (and developers) know what's coming. Apple plays everything so close to the vest that customers (like us) are left to speculate on when (or if) a new iPhone will be released, with no official information--no hints, tips, etc.--to point us in the right direction.

Oh, well.

Where are the leaked blurry pictures from Asia?
Vietnamese dealer videos?
Taiwanese animations?
Case manufacturers new designs?

after the jailbreak for 4.3.1 released yesterday, and i found out "springtomize" app to make the UI animation in iPhone to be faster, i'm OK with iPhone 5 being delayed, because this iPhone 4 of mine feels like it has a dual core processor. :D

It doesn't say Korea first. It says Korea will be simultaneous with U.S. launch.
