As long as the phone isn't much bigger than it is now, which I'm confident Apple shares the same concern, I welcome the larger screen. It would have to have the same resolution as the 3.5-inch screen, though.
Sorry kid but you're wrong.
Retaining the current WIDTH of both the phone and the screen but extending the diagonal length to 4 inches extends the screen to just short of the bottom of the existing home button. AKA changing the aspect ratio.
What you have done is... Yes depicted your version of a 4 inch screen yet retained the aspect ratio and the home button.
What I explained an don't appear to grasp is modifying the aspect ratio via the 4 inch screen. Inside the existing form factor. The extended screen length would then impede and replace the home button.
You have not depicted as what I conjectured on this mythical device either... So be cool bro and chill.
After having a 4 inch screen on my android phone...I can't switch back to the iphone unless they do this. It looks like a little piece of trash. Just sayin'
I hope they do upgrade to a 4 inch...I might just switch back.![]()
Whatever size they make, they need to make sure it'll fit in a pocket (pick one).
Perhaps you are describing something like this? AKA 16x9 display.
I like the look, but I'm dubious.
100% agree!
I do have an iP4 an a GalaxyS.
Since i own the Galaxy (3 weeks now) i am nearly not using the iPhone, because this tiny display is pain in the eyes - even it has better resolution.
Stop that ******** marketing thing named "Retina"!
A display with even 275 ppi for example looks fantastic!
It's too bad the 4" iPhone is rumored to be using a new, multi-core A5 processor while its larger cousin, the 9.7" iPad 2 is rumored to have yesterday's A4 technology. The iPad will forever be one revision cycle behind the iPhone, which is too bad given that internally at Apple the iPad was the first product developed out of the two.

This might mean the nano is actually the 3.5 inch display?
Apple isn't going to change the aspect ratio. That will cause a poostorm of gargantuan proportions amongst app store developers.
Kind of like when they told all of us corp users the Xserves weren't going anywhere. Apple loves pulling the rug out from under people.
Bigger is better. I predict the next iPhone will have 5.5 inch screen.

Well said."Retina" never meant anything. Its not like a scientific principle. Its a marketing tagline they applied to describe that it was very high resolution.
I couldn't agree more.AT&T/Tmobile call their HSPA+ 4G, so everyone is playing fast and lose with the nomenclature. The point is, Verizon's LTE is much faster than AT&T in real world speeds, not to mention lower latency.
Uh, where did you see that? The iPad was the first to use the A4 and there rumors for the A5 have included both the iPad and the iPhone.
