A YouTube video posted by f1ipzid3 shows a side-by-side comparison between the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S video taking abilities.
Comparing the video shots from the iPhone 5 vs. iPhone 4s
This video looks at indoor and outdoor light, front and rear camera, depth of field & also notice the difference in stabilization.

Both iPhones were handheld on top of one another to have equal comparison
All Video has not been altered other than cropping/sizing

they still call it iPhone 4s - it's like you are saying the iPhone 4's.. By the way the iPhone 5 is way more stable and it has more vivid colors :)

Big Difference

The big difference is in the stabilization. The 4s always gets "tearing" for me and a much more jittery feel. The new stabilization is much better on the 5.

The 5 is slightly better in most cases (rear camera) though not even as large a difference as going to 4s from 4 was IMO. I'm actually quite surprised by this. Apple played it up as a huge improvement. Usually that means it IS a huge improvement.

I think it's really clear in the water fountain section. Look at the amount of detail on the rock in the foreground on both images... its clear which is better.

Colors look more vivid on the 5...especially noticeable in the green trees and bushes...even the pebbles/small rocks on the ground look more defined to my eyes...nice vid, thanks for posting! :D

I can see the improvements, especially the image stabilisation - though I was expecting more noticeable image quality.

Don't get me wrong, I m not here to rip on the iPhone 5, I'm buying one next week when they launch here in Ireland, but I seriously can not see much tangible evidence for improvement in that video,

Now that's not necesserily bad, heck the 4S has better camera than my one X, hence my post.

So please before up sy you'd like to downvote learn to see there are more than or way to see others opinions and wa they are saying in their comment is not the way you read it to be, that was te reason the downvote was done away with in the first place.

There are some impressive differences, even though the phones have essentially the same cameras. The shot of the waterfall is the most obvious. In low light, though, they both looked similar to me. The stabilization surprised me the most. The 5 clearly does a better job there.

I used one in the Apple store earlier today, and the 5's video is more stable when panning, compared to 4S which is quite bouncy. also the front cam is hugely improved as well.

the people saying that the rear camera doesnt look any different are crazy

not only is the contrast much better with more realistic (but still nicely saturate) colors..but it also appears slightly sharper...(which would make sense since they spent a lot of time "perfectly aligning the lenses")

i wouldnt expect a huge difference due to the fact that the sensor and optics are pretty much the same from the 4s. the difference is in the processing and slightly sharper lens from aligning better..

The difference to the trained eye is tremendous! iPhone 5 is all over the 4S, which was a great smartphone camera in itself! I'm really, REALLY impressed!

Outdoors, there is higher contrast, much sharper detail, better color, good stability with panning. Indoors, macro is terrific, there less blur when moving the camera in the iPhone 5, better white balance.

Can't wait to get mine!
