I appreciate how Tim misinterpreted the market and kept the iPhone small screen and Apple will have to recuperate lost sales somehow.
The "I want a phablet iPhone" is getting old. The iPhone is a good size now.

----------

What are you even talking about? Have you allready forgotten Steve?

He is BY FAR the best thing that ever happened to Apple... And now, when Cook starts to go against Steve's will, all goes down the drain....
Steve Jobs was the best thing for Apple. Not for a single product though. Steve's legacy was making the right decisions, hiring the right people and Apple itself. Product designs, patents and software is what Ive and others legacy will be

----------

No, but it's what a lot of people want....

No, but it's what a lot of people think they want....
People need a phone. A few want a phablet. I'm glad Apple is not taking this route.

----------

You know nothing. btw, when the iPod mini came out in colors there were only 4 to chose from. If iPhone came out in every color under the rainbow people here would be complaining that Apple has too many SKU's and is no longer simple like it was under Steve.

I am complaining Apple have too many SKU's now. It's a worrying trend I think.

They can spin it for a while but the stocks will show a clear picture. Its all about the Top & Bottom Line at the boardroom.
Whether it's in stock or not means nothing if you don't know how many there was to begin with.
But you're assuming that this product is a step backwards, when it really isn't. Do you want one? Probably not. But others like the fact that they are getting a phone with a little better tech than last year's model for less money. I don't want one, because it's not my taste. But let's look at some of the positives of this phone:

Colors. Some people like colors. Especially young people. The iPhone has gotten a bit of a reputation as an old person phone the last couple of years. This provides some hipness. And it's not just about the color on the outside. The way that Apple has coordinated the outside colors with the wallpapers in iOS7 is going to be visually stunning, IMO. Seems minor, but I have a feeling it's not going to appear that way in person.

Durability. I think the plastic will actually fare better than the aluminum body on the 5 (and the 5S).

Battery life. The battery size and life on the 5C is an improvement over the 5.

Price. People who are upgrading from anything earlier than a 5 will get the feeling that they're getting a new phone, and not last year's model. And they're getting the tech for $100 less.
+1
Or people are stupid.

I would want to see actual sales numbers, that a product is selling out may be due a lot of reasons. There weren't a lot made, or the company has decided to make it sell out by limiting the number of products available to order.
So first people complain there's still stock left and it must mean it's not selling.
But now it starts selling out in some stores, and now that must mean they didn't have many..

Try telling this to my wife.... She will not give up her S4 Active because of the screen size. I offered her my iPhone 5 several times so I could have a reason to upgrade this year :)

No takers and she has had every iPhone since day one.

I have to admit once you played with a nice big screen it's hard to give it up.

I keep wondering why people are so against an iPhone with a larger screen?

1. Apple had to many SKUs in the 1990's and it almost bankrupted Apple. Don't want Apple to repeat the same mistakes.

2. Believe it or not, when most people (not the vocal minority here) buy a phone, they want a phone and not a phablet.

3. Most pockets fit a phone in well, but don't fit in phablets.

4. Cost. The iPhone is at the upper limit of what anyone (apart from rich idiots) will reasonably pay. A larger screen equals a more costly iPhone for you as Apple will not reduce margins for you.

5. Android phablets. My best friend has one of these. And I have used it. it feels terrible and way to large to comfortably use. She can't even store it in her pocket. And I have heard from many people, a similar sentiment. People think they want a phablet. But after using one, I for one am glad I bought a phone.

Do I need to say any more?

I have played with a large screen and after using the android phablet I could not wait to put it down and go back to my iPhone. iPhone 1 that is, because of the screen size. The iPhone 5S screen size I can handle but not a phablet like the android ones.

Yes a few people want phablets. But not enough to make it viable for Apple.

Total cost of the 5C with the cheapest AT&T contract would be 95% of the total cost of the 5S with the same contract.

The 5S is a better phone than the 5C.

There is nothing that the 5C is better at than the 5S, and the 5S will have a higher second hand value making the gap over time between the models a lot less than the 5%...

I fail to see who Apple thinks the target is for the 5C.
Except for those who always wanted an iPhone with a permanent plastic case in a hideous color...

Except both phones have a completely different design and a different price.

Whether it's in stock or not means nothing if you don't know how many there was to begin with.

Thats the whole point, Apple board of directors would know how many were made and how many were sold - that would slowly start show up on their stock values, thats until Apple acknowledges the real numbers.

Except both phones have a completely different design and a different price.

The difference in price, considering total cost, including the cost of a contract, and second hand value, isn't very much...

And yes, as I pointed out, people wanting to save on a ugly plastic cover for the 5S can do so by getting a permanent one if they buy the 5C.

The 5C is a clearly inferior model compared to the 5S, and with AT&T's cheapest contract you'll only save 5% (with a more expensive contract, you're obviously saving even less.)

No you don't.... Color, plastic, metal no problem. Choices for everyone unless it's screen size.

Thanks for deciding that for us :)

There is already 21 different SKU's of iPhone on sale now. Way too many in my opinion. I'd have preferred less. But I'm not Apple to make that decision.

1 - I'm not getting it on contract
2 - Thats a matter of opinion. I personally hate the two-tone design of the 5/5s but love the seamless design of the 5c.

Wow, it's impossible to make so many factual errors in one comment. Come on, do a bit of research before writing...

There is no learning curve between 6 and 7. Again, some people should try to know what they are talking about before writing in this forum

I know you are not mocking, but you don't seem to understand what China is in 2013

Maybe you should go back and reread my post and the comment that I was responding to. I am well aware of what 7 is and is not. English...do you speak it?

At this point I don't really care if I get suspended again because the comments on this forum are just getting out of hand.

that was obviously sarcasm...

I see I'm getting alot of negative replies... WHY?!

All I said was that Steve would NEVER allow this to happen. And I stand by that statement....

Once again: Steve would never allow to release a product that is such a BIG step backwards.. Sad day for Apple, sad day for technical evolution and innovation.

Yep, but Apple wasn't a one-man show. Steve needed talking into putting an App Store on the iPhone for goodness sake! He built a company that could survive on it's own, even if it wouldn't be the same without him.

I don't think this is another John Sculley era. It's an Apple that Steve Jobs knew he had to leave, and was happy with, not one he was kicked out of.

All the moaning... All the complaining... All the Steve would nevers...
We're gonna see these colorful 5Cs EVERYWHERE. People care more about aesthetic than what's inside. Just watch.

2. Believe it or not, when most people (not the vocal minority here) buy a phone, they want a phone and not a phablet.

When most people talk about wanting a bigger screened iPhone, they're not referring to a phablet, which is 5" or more.

They're talking more like 4.3"-4.8", which fits quite easily into pockets if designed well, and with a tiny bezel, is not that much bigger than the current iPhone.

Man you guys will buy anything with an apple logo on it. I'm shocked at how many of you are buying this phone when you already have the same one in metal. I planned on getting one of these until they were released. But for $650 its a joke. Youre buying a phone that was released almost a year ago BUT in a cheaper plastic shell. I wanted that same colored plastic shell but not without upgraded internals. Apple must think we are idiots.

I agree the rounded back is nice. plus the colors of the s I think suck.
