Yet, iPhone 1 to iPhone 3G/3GS went from aluminum to plastic under Steve's watch.

Apparently the iPhone 5C will come in a black variant as well. BGR has pictures posted of it.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that site is Taiwanese, not Japanese (note the .tw domain).

As for the 5C I'd imagine it's as tough or tougher than the 3GS, and my 3GS took several years to accumulate any significant number of scuffs.

Chinese? But yeah, just ask River Tam.

None of these neat rumors have made the phone appeal to me. Happy with the 5 and LTE. Never liked the iPhone until the 4. Plastic has little appeal, when others are available on the market.

Probably not often enough for Apple to justify putting the resources behind doing the entire rainbow spectrum for the iPhone 5S.

My guess is Apple wants the 5S to look more high end, and IMO the black and silver 5's look way classier than some of the after market color options I've seen. If they get the coloring right on the champagne phone (e.g. not some horrible yellow gold or bronze) I would put it in the same category as black and silver.

Great. So now when I make fun of my Android using friend's cheap plastic casing (all I have left in my arsenal) they can just point to Apple's new Easter color plastic phones and laugh:(

Small screen + dated/limited UI = I may finally be going Android this fall. Sad Apple.

Apple would do well to make the 5S come in some of those 5C colors, rather than just black and white (and champagne).

I don't understand the marketing behind offering the 5C in red, blue, etc. and not the 5S. Do you WANT people to forgo your more expensive device even though they can afford it because they just really want a blue iPhone? Because I can see that happening. Maybe not often, but it'll happen.

But we all just slap a case on the phone so while I like the idea of colors for the 5S, it does seem like a poor use of resources.

Then again, if Apple did it, you would think they would sell a ton.

Who makes a nice, thin, crystal clear, scratch resistant phone case that would show off a colored 5S well?

I'm glad they are going back to colors everywhere. I'd rather have a 5C than my current 5 if the specs are equivalent. I don't care about a fingerprint scanner or a better camera on the 5S. My first 5's battery failed and that one and the replacement have had some weird glitches, hopefully the new iOS and/or phones fix the glitches. Plus I always thought the 5 is a touch too thin & light.

Colorful iOS 7 and rainbow phones will make the world smile more! :)

If this thing has better build quality than the 5 and is m. te plastic, this could be a big deal for some people.

Guess no one cares about technical details/features anymore? Just fruity colors. And I guess case manufacturers will just sale clear cases to show off the colors.
Call me crazy but something is wrong with that picture. Where is the innovation at?
