What's the % of iPhones having the gyroscope issues? I was planning on ordering one this week, but now I have major concerns whether to do it or not.

I don't like to gamble.

I can only guess, but I would say most have the issue, at least those currently in the hands of their owners. New batches that have yet to be delivered is unknown.

Based on the polls I've seen on here I'm guessing about 90%. As far as in the store displays pretty much 100%

Mine was week 41, but gyro was out.when I opened the box the phone was on software 7.02 and was in DND mode so it looks like the factory (C3) had tried to calibrate it, but it didn't work. Now I'm waiting for a replacement.

I am still waiting for the software fix. I am not in england any more and i dont have apple store in my country:/

Why?!. The new one will have the gyro issue too. As of now, apple has not fixed the issue so why waste your time?!.

I rang apple to see if they would extend my return period to see if they do a fix, but all they would do is replace it. I felt couldn't refuse the replacement as they would think I can't have been that bothered about the fault.

I downloaded the clinometer app and calibrated all axis. And it remembers and behaves well within the app. So, I gotta believe that Apple will have a software fix.

It's gotten way too much press and surely Apple is aware of many users who have returned their phones or are jumping to a different phone or delaying purchases because of this issue...and for every one of those who have mentioned it in this forum and elsewhere, there are likely hundreds or tens of thousands who they statistically represent.

How can a phone that isn't even setup yet (i.e., new in box) be in DND mode?

90%

Do you really expect anyone here to have the answer?

POLL
Interestingly enough I found a poll on a german website:
http://apfeleimer.de/2013/10/iphone...-behebt-ios-update-iphone-5s-kompass-gyro-bug

And some people (in Germany) took part and "voted" which kind of offset they had on their iphone 5s.
There were still almost 20% that NO offset at all. That was some kind of news for me because I did not expect any working phones.

But - of course - this is not a gallup poll or something and people did not need to say the truth. Although it was anonymous.

Build 42's should be arriving in peoples hands this week so perhaps they will verify if the problem still exists plus we should get an idea on tuesday about the next update for iOS.

I'd say half the people claiming to have a perfect iPhone 5s didn't check carefully or just don't have another iPhone or a real level to compare it to. That's my experience so far... Lots of people saying their iPhone is great without actually checking.

I don't know but that's how it arrived. The box was sealed and the phone had the back and front film protectors on it. When I switched the phone on it was showing the "hello" in different languages screen. When I switched it on the battery was fully charged and in DND mode.

I love how everyone keeps saying "maybe next weeks will be perfect".

Your assuming there is a hardware fault that needs fixing or that Apple intend to fix one.

Maybe, it is what it is and a patch will sort it out.

good point.
although one could argue if you hit such a website page and take part in a poll you might be aware of the problem or at least sensitive that it exists.
of course that does not guarantee that they have tested it right.

either way:
on tuesday there might be an update and then I see if my 1° iphone 5s will be "fixed" - and if not - on wednesday I get a new week 42 replacement. I dealt with apple support to keep phone #1 until phone #2 arrives.

if both are screwed by then I dunno what to do...

I've done the same (I've still got my phone) you'll have to let us know how you get on

I've currently got my week 39 that is off by -3 degrees and my retail replacement from china (week 41) comes on Wed. I was also allowed to keep my current phone until just after the replacement comes.

Will test them both and keep the better one.

Let's see what happens.

Also for any iPad 5 or Mini 2 fans there is no way Apple will release the device with the same gyro issues as the 5s! It's had too
much exposure across all the major tech websites which I'm sure a team within Apple monitor daily!

Even if it's a widespread hardware issue across 90% of 5s's they will have to relase some sort of software fix/patch that will solve or at least minimize the impact to the users, othwerwise all they'll be doing is wasting time and money on thousands of replacements each week!

Some guys have reported that their week 41's are no better.

I won't say my 5s is good regarding this gyro thing issue because I haven't done checking yet. Since this is my first cellphone, I don't have any other iphone or real level, and don't know how to test, I really can't say if my 5s is good. But I do appreciate if anyone would kindly help me do a simple test (w/o other iphone or level) on my new 5s for confirming its accuracy in leveling measurement. Thanks

I have a 5 to compare it to, so I know what I'm talking about when I say my 5S is fine.

Got 5s last Tuesday in Chicago Tmobile

Gyroscope is of 3 degrees compare to my old 4

Waiting for software update. If it turns out to be a hardware related issue the phone is under warranty anyway.
