The rumored iPhone 5C colors look ugly to me, I would get the flagship phone just because of that, and I like silver anyways.

I cry a little inside when I don't hear rumors of a bigger screen this close to the reveal.

Android here I come...

Bigger screens are such a gimmick. I never want my phone screen bigger than 5 inches. And even that is pushing it.

Rumor has October 4th for a US launch. I work for Verizon and we have a vacation blackout that week. My friend at Sprint does as well.

But the 4th of October has been going around the grapevine for a week or so and our regional director hinted at a big launch the first week in October
There's no way America is getting it later than other countries.

September 20th is the American launch date.

I want to be surprised :(. Nothing is worse than when all of the rumours/product leaks we read about here on MacRumors are all accurate and the keynote just solidifies what we already know.

Then stop reading macrumors, duh!

You thought those rumors were credible? Apple has a very well established pattern.

Maybe the iPhone 6 will have a 4.5-4.7 inch screen (they won't do 4.8- hold a S3 and a HTC One, you'll feel why).

Surely they are testing several screen sizes and probably have prototypes with larger screens in testing- but no way it was coming this year.

That's not what I said at all. I simply stated the rumors were present. They were probably being tested for next years phone. I'm assuming the iPhone 6 will be 4.5 inches. It's already been proven that the optimal screen size is 4.5 inches

Oh, look out...it has been proven. Optimal for whom? Humans come in different sizes, how can there be one optimal screen size?

Optimal based on what? What criteria?

There was not one credible rumor of a larger sized iPhone launching this year. Plus, Apple has a strong pattern to iPhone releases. Getting your hopes up on a vague rumor with no substantiation is not a good idea.

Beat me to it. Well done.

All i want to know is how good the camera will be. If it can't compete with the Lumina 1020, or even come close (i don't really expect it to be as good because of the form factor), i'm skipping this generation.

Call if what you will. Everyone can say there are different ways to use a phone, and different ways to prefer it. Some prefer texting with one hand, or to be able to fit it better in your pocket...some prefer having a bigger screen to watch movies, use map applications, screen real-estate, etc. It depends on personal preference. However the most bought screen size is 4.5. Therefore, the "studies" show that the "preferred" screen size is 4.5. Ubuntu has also done additional research on this topic as they aim to create the "perfect" smartphone, for all tasks necessary.

Read above. Also, it's true, women prefer smaller phones. Could be because they don't do as many smart phone tasks on their phones, and also because they have smaller hands. Or that they prefer one handed texting. Generally speaking, for the average hand 4.5 inch screen isn't too big, or unwieldy. Phones are taking advantage of thinner bezels now, and the moto x fits a 4.7 inch screen into the size of most 4.5 inch phones. I'm not advocating either side, but you can't be oblivious to the information around you. 5 inch screens are above what people currently prefer. Although before 4.5 was the preferred size, it was 4.3. So the iphone, and 4.0 is still outside of those boundaries on the other end, as well.

well you called it "proven" and "optimal" which i dont think are correct.

something that is subjective to the individual user will never be proven.

I'm still really up in the air about what I'm going to do with my upgrade. If the iPhone 5S doesn't wow me, I might be ditching the iPhone.

Had iPhones since 2007, but the last few releases have been really disappointing.

I'm in a very similar position.

I've been using each new iPhone model concurrently with each new Galaxy S series Android since the beginning. Frankly to be very candid, the many years I've been an Apple computer user dating back to System 7, has created a certain bond with the brand. So entertaining the idea of giving up on iPhone is hard.

While I will continue to use Apple computers, the thought of walking away from the iPhone is sad, yet Apple has forced me to take a hard look at any further investment in iOS. Google & Samsung have done such an exemplary job with my Galaxy S4, it's nearly perfect. At the least for my very heavy daily usage it's extremely fun, fast , and reliable. That in combination with my new 2013 Nexus 7.2, make for the type of fun experience that used to be Apples expertise.

I had an excellent experience with my iPhone 4S, however by then it's display was quite tiny by comparison to my spacious Samsung display. When one uses both platforms at the same time, the iPhones tiny screen becomes a real productivity killer.

But I've waited patiently for iPhone 6, the phone that created a lot of buzz & rumors flew that it might follow iPhone 5. That was a long time ago, and now it's readily apparent that Apples ego & greed prevailed thinking they can extend their profit taking scheme with the 5S and make us wait, yet another year.

At a bare minimum my plan is to pass on the 5S and maybe stick with my iP5 on iOS 6 which is serving me well. Then just sit back & wait while enjoying my Galaxy S4 which is _the_ single best Android next to my Nexus 4 & HTC One, that I've owned.

THIS...

android has a phone that is about half the size of an ipad mini...

people need to re-evaluate their priorities.. and buy an ipad/ipad mini... you dont need a phone with the width+height of a construction brick

and for anyone still using an iphone 4 like me... i'd love to see apple drop both phones in late Sept.. who actually wants to wait til october?

I wish they would stick to one solid colour rather than two-tone, so we have all gold, all silver (with no white) and all black. That would look so much nicer.

Interesting that we still haven't seen any leaked photo's of the rumoured Sapphire Crystal finger print scanner to replace the home button. Especially as we've already seen of photo's of just about every other aspect of the new iPhones. Makes me think it's not going to happen until the iPhone 6 next year.

Glad when it'll come out.

Don't care for the larger screen. Having used a larger HTC device before, the bigger screen isn't all that. Can't use it with a single hand.

I'd rather keep with current iphone dimensions. Leaving a 4s.
