Looks like the golds are to first to hit back order. Guess they didn't see so many people taking a liking to it.

Either that or it's just hard to make. Last year the white became popular when it became clear that the black scuffed more easily. This year they reworked it and it seems they made tons of "space gray" models and fewer white and gold.

Just a heads up for anyone else with this problem, after I logged into my AT&T account and checked eligibility that way it suddenly started working everywhere else.

One thing I'm seeing now is that Best Buy is saying you can order now and pick up today... Does anyone have any experience with this? Do they guarantee that or are they just saying you might get one today if you show up early?
 
I think a lot of people are confused about the product being AVAILABLE to ship and how long it will take TO ship.

It is available to ship in 1-3 days. Then it will ship from China which will take longer to get here which is why the delivery is Sept. 30 to Oct 1st for most of the orders that went in right away.

The 1-3 days is not the shipping time, it is how long before it will leave the factory in China.

But it's only another day or so once it ships. They go by air.
 
I was hoping to find people ahead of (or behind) me, but so far riding it out... alone!!

I ordered mine without a case. I'll trek down to my Apple store and see what the options are. The case Apple is selling says "leather", and I'm sure it's not "real" leather, so I want to go see one in person before I buy it, or look third party.

Well, the iPad cases were "real" leather... Lol, had a dog chew through mine. Can confirm.. there was an inner plastic piece to keep it stiff, with leather on one side & microfiber on the other.. stitched together.
I had the brown one before that & it took leather treating VERY well.. mine looked like an antique book as I carried it around! :0)
Apple's site describes it as "premium leather" & I'd say that's pretty accurate.. has the leather smell, not plastic smell... if that makes sense.
 
I think AT&T has something screwed up in my account. I tried putting my wife's phone into the iOS app's upgrade check form and it worked fine. Both phones are out of contract and part of a shared minute/data plan. Weird.

One annoying thing: I can upgrade her line with 1-3 business day shipping. Too bad she doesn't want to. Guess I'll bid my time waiting for the one coming from AT&T. :/

You can always use her upgrade and just activate it on your line instead. I did this a couple of years ago when my wife got her 4.

It did take a few extra minutes at the ATT store to make sure they did it correctly, but it did work.
 
Shipping Method

I was able to call and have shipping changed to expedited with a $6 charge. Now arrives Sept 27 to Oct 1.
 
Woohoo! Easier than I expected...got in in the 1-3 ship time frame! Got one to surprised my brother. Can barely afford it but he served his country well.

Interestingly, T-Mobile's website still has it for 1-3 business day shipment. I wanted to try out T-Mobile anyway, so I opted for that. If I don't like it, I'll cancel. :D

And despite paying the extra $24.99 for "Saturday" delivery it still gives me an estimate of 9/26. I don't mind waiting until next Thursday. Just don't charge me the $24.99. :mad: I'll call in the morning, I guess. :eek:

Not all Best Buys have in-store pickup available. But they do have stock for first come first serve.
 
AT&T address doesn't match Apple address word for word, line for line, spacing for spacing - you're f@... No way to change it on either site.
I'm sure it's a recent "improvement", thanks Tim, you're great!
