I got my confirmation notice at 12:06 for a 32gb att gold with a shipping of 7-10 days with delivery 10/8 to 10/11. So, that color must REALLY be popular!

I ordered a Gold 32 GB from iPhone Apple App at 3:05 AM EDT. In cart, it showed 1-3 days, 2 seconds later while checking out, it changed to 7 - 10 days

7-10 day wait:

Ordered within seconds of the page coming up. Selected my 32GB Gold AT&T and it said 1-3 days. Once I jumped through all the hoops to be able to add to my cart, it took forever to load, then said 7-10 days, which it arriving more like 14-18 days. That little lag screwed it all up. Still, got it ordered with Apple Care by 9:09.

Clearly you don't know what you're talking about. It clearly states unlocked. Unlocked like T-Mo's iPhone has been. Not sure how you say they changed or altered anything. It's as plain english as can be.

What I clicked on said unlocked. The "processing" email I received said unlocked. But when I log into the store to check on my order, it doesn't say unlocked. Color me concerned.

I tried to order online but I have a business account and apple wouldn't take it but I'm happy it didn't go through, I don't want to wait three days or more. Instead, I came down in my jeep with a sleeping bag in the back lol to my local Verizon store. It's pretty empty /:
And the att store across is empty as well. Apologies for the image angle

You mean get here from China in three days? Not impossible, but that's a full week+ from the earliest ship estimates. That's seems exceedingly optimistic.

Not that I'd mind it of course. :)

The way large tech companies ship from China is two day service. It's not really normal shipping, the way it works is shipments are pre-packaged and labeled in China, but then loaded onto pallets for the first leg of the journey. NOTHING is sold to YOU at this point, but rather to the Apple Store US (or Dell US, etc). The waybill for the pallet indicates a whole pallet being sold to Apple Store US, and it clears customs as such. Then, once it's cleared customs, it's legally sold to you and the carrier breaks up the pallet and the packages continue on their way via domestic overnight air service.

Well hopefully they'll actually have some. I like how you can see the AT&T store in the reflection.

I'm with you man, my friend and I are first at line at Best Buy, no one else is here. There is also a Verizon and AT&T store across the street and no one is there also.

It seems like the subsidized phones may be shipping earlier than the off contract ones.

Ordered mine through Verizon.com...
They (at 11:57, when they let me sneak through early...) had ZERO gold 32gb in inventory, ONLY 16 & 64.
I opted for 32gb space grey & they said it would ship by Tuesday, September 24th!

Oh good, no longer a "problem with my account," now it just doesn't exist.

"We're sorry. We can't find your account information with AT&T.
Please verify your information and try again."

I got in early too and upgraded two phones. 16gb Space Gray and Silver. Same 9/24 ship by date.

Gold is apparently a hot commodity. My sister ordere one and got the 7-10 days but if she switched colors got much shorter times. She wants gold though so she's waiting.

Mom and I have been in a line at an Apple store for 4 hours already. 12th in line. Hoping to have my pick soon enough.

Darn "subsidized" versions are still shipping in 1-3 business days but the non-contract/T-Mobile ones aren't shipping for 7-10, at least now after an hour. Oh, well. No sense extending my contract and getting a locked phone over $200.

Interestingly, T-Mobile's website still has it for 1-3 business day shipment. I wanted to try out T-Mobile anyway, so I opted for that. If I don't like it, I'll cancel. :D
