And Apple force you to buy their products? I don't think so...

If we want an up-to-date iPhone, we need to get one with an annoyingly large screen unless they release a 4" iPhone later. It's not that we don't have any choice, only that we have less desirable choices now. It's like the removal of the 17" MBP; users had to switch to 15" or switch to Dell.

Yeah the first thing I thought with this is how many people got the 6 because the 6 Plus is sold out? Will definitely skew the numbers here until the inventory catches up.

I seriously doubt there are a large number of iPhone 6 purchasers who purchased a 6 because they couldn't get a 6+. I think you're just telling yourself that so you can feel some sense of superiority because you were able to get a 6+. I'm sure the vast majority of people who bought a 6 did so because that's what they wanted to buy. An iPhone isn't like an ice cream flavor that you substitute just because they're out of your flavor. Think about it. If I had wanted a 6+ and they were out of them, I simply would have waited for them to be in stock.

Considering how many are back ordered, this doesn't surprise me at all. Where can you even get an iPhone 6 Plus today unless you steal it out of my hands? MWAHAHAHA.

Not surprising. Even the 6 is a little unwieldy for most people. Even with reachability, the extra .7" doesn't justify the difficulty of using it with one hand for me. I hope they bring back the 4" next year so we have 3 options to choose from though that's highly unlikely.

I have to agree with you. Even the 5 was a stretch. The ip3 and 4 were definitely the most comfortable size for one-handed use. Don't get me wrong, I love the extra real estate, but since the 5, there is always that moment when reaching to a opposite corner of the screen that you loosen your grip and there's a fear that the device will slip out of your hand.

I'm not so sure it would be on par even if there was a stock of 6+.

I don't think everyone wants a phablet, I certainly dont. I'd be surprised if even half of apple users want a phablet.

Samsung has always sold more of their S line, than the Note line, for example.

No 6 Plus Phones Available!!!

No 6 Plus phones are available near me! I had to order mine and will take 3-4 weeks to arrive.

I'm one of those that will be getting the 6+. I went into my local AT&T store, and the 6+ fit just fine in my hand. I'll wait until supply is better before getting mine. Probably for Christmas!

It's not annoyingly large. 4.7 isn't a huge upgrade from 4 (I have a Nexus 4 and an iPhone 5). If you go to the competition, you get the same screen size. It's standard nowadays. 5.5 is "phablet" size, but Apple give you a choice. How many high-end non-iOS phones do you see with 4" screens or below in 2014?

All the comments about supply constraints are completely correct, that is skewing statistics so far. But, this article is too early, regardless. It's been one weekend. That's a poor statistical sampling no matter what is going on with supply/demand.

Yes, it is very annoyingly large. Even the iPhone 5 barely fits in my pockets comfortably. I get a choice between 4.7" and 5.5" if I want a new iPhone (a big "if"), and I don't want an Android phone. Apple has removed the screen size that I want, and Motorola et al. using big screens doesn't make it any more acceptable. It doesn't matter much for me since I'm not going to spend money on a new phone anyway, but I can see why others are annoyed.

As I'm sure many people in this thread have already said, these results mean just about nothing.

Did they ever think that it's... impossible to get an iPhone 6+ right now?

Exactly…

Didn't one outlet mention of the iPhone 6's that came in that about 3% were 6+'s?

Sure the 6 will always out weigh the 6+, but I would wager that will balance out a good bit compared to this chart.

Without a doubt that is part of the issue. These numbers will be more telling once the backlog of iPhone 6 plus phones is gone.

Albeit, I still think the iPhone 6 will be more popular. But we will see in about 1 year.

I was able to get a 16GB 6+ at Target on Launch Day. They seemed to have a few cause people didn't realize they could get them there. However they only did new lines or regular upgrades, no early upgrades or full price purchases. In the end I returned the 6+ to Target and bought a 6+ at the Apple Retail Store. The Apple Store had the 128GB model available for pickup for about 4 hours yesterday afternoon. (2 Locations...I kept checking). I underestimated just how small 16GB would be so I'm glad I was able to find the bigger one. Battery life is awesome and it doesn't feel awkward to me at all, I have rather large hands though.

Not surprising one bit.

The 6 is the mainstream device whereas the 6+ is catering for a niche market. Also, even forgetting those supply constraints on the 6+, the 6 is cheaper and therefore more affordable.

People who like to be obvious and to show off you are calling a niche market? I would be embarrassed to buy 6+ so that people can think that I paid more. In most cases, 6+ is not even more expensive. How many Gigs, locked, unlocked? Or that is easy to hide under the hood?
So, you can have unlocked 6 with 64GB to be almost two times more expensive then “more fancy” locked 6+ with the same storage space. And you think that people who paid over a 1,000 bucks for a phone did not have another $100 to buy 6+? No, that would not be a smart buy, nor practical decision.

iPhone 6
Locked:
- 16GB of storage for $199
- 64GB for $299
- 128GB for $399.
Unlocked:
- 16GB of storage for $649
- 64GB for $749
- 128GB for $849

iPhone 6+
Locked:
- 16GB of storage for $299
- 64GB for $399
- 128GB for $499.
Unlocked:
- 16GB of storage for $749
- 64GB for $849
- 128GB for $949

Simply, most of the people (especially who own an iPad already) would rather buy the newest phone, not a tablet.

the 6+ is vulgar , it's the Douchebag iPhone edition. the 5 has the perfect size.

I wonder if it would have been simpler for all, if Apple just had one size at 5" with a 1920 x 1080 display.

Not too big, not too small. And just thick enough that it would allow for a OIS camera.

Yeah a 5" iphone would be awesome. However, as long as Apple keeps their huge bezels it would probably be the size of most Android 5.5" phones (if not taller), making it way too large for a lot of people.

Bingo. the 5.5 inch model was a very bold move by Apple and it makes sense that they might have withheld stock until they got an idea of how well it would sell. Online orders and speed of sell through give them some clues.

So they likely produced the phones on a 2 to 1 or even 3 to 1 ratio to the iPhone 6. Meaning that many folks that really want the 6+ couldn't get it yet.

Of course the 6 is going more than the Plus....no one can get the Plus. I was in line for 22+ hours and I got the ONLY Plus that was delivered to Verizon that day and peoples were really MAD. But I am HAPPY AS HELL & ROTFLMAO :)

Without knowing numbers of devices sure I can see that, but not 7X more of the 6 though. That is just other factors.

I actually doubt that many folks got the iPhone 6 because the 6+ they wanted was out of stock. After all, you only get a limited time to do an exchange and you can't promise you will find what you want by then, even when you are in an area with a 30 day return window. And you can't use "UK Consumer Law" since 'they didn't have the one I wanted in stock' isn't a defect of the device you did buy.

But you are right that there are 'other factors'. One biggie being where these numbers can from. They came from ads served by this company. Ads which don't appear in all apps, all websites or on the phones just by themselves. So really they are only looking at a small number of the whole. Yahoo might be the biggest site they supply but many folks don't ever go to any yahoo sites even if they have yahoo email on their phones. And what apps use them. They certainly aren't saying but they might not be huge ones that everyone just has to get an use. So who knows what the sample amount is.

Having had my 6 since Friday lunchtime I'm still some way away from getting over how much bigger it feels in my hand than my 5.... it's still feeling a bit unwieldy at the moment.

Maybe I've just got small hands, but for me the 6 is as big as I'd ever want to go and even that is a bit stretch for typing one handed - I'm hitting the change keyboard language button almost as often as the numeric keyboard button I'm actually going for due to the extra width.

I've not seen a 6 plus in the flesh (metal and glass?) yet but having seen how much bigger than the 6 it looks in side by side photos compared to how much bigger the 6 looks to the 5/5s it must be pretty massive.

I'll bet the iPhone 7 comes with a third size - the iPhone Air (or Mini) that is going to be a much smaller pocketable phone with an interface that incorporates elements of the iWatch. You could probably also consider it an enlarged iWatch with TouchID.
