Seriously, why wait on line when you could have pre-ordered and had it delivered to your front door, free of charge, on the 19th?

People amaze me.

This is what I don't understand... If you care enough about the iPhone 6 to wait in these ridiculous lines for who knows how many hours, then surely you would have been able to stay up/wake up for the pre-orders....

I think some people just like to atmosphere, but this many people?

I'm glad I pre-ordered. My iPhone 6 is coming:

9/19/2014 - Friday

8:09 am On FedEx vehicle for delivery

 That is ridiculous. Who in their right mind would wait in a line like that for a phone? You would think they were giving away something much more important than a phone for that type of line.

Do they have enough phones for everyone at that one store? That is an awful lot of people.

That looks like the same line of Maple Leafs fans stand in hoping for a stanley cup.

To those trying to get a 6 Plus in Canada... Good luck.

I reserved a 128gb iPhone 6 Plus last friday for pickup at my local Apple store (Mapleview in Burlington, ON) from 8-9am.

Got out of bed today at 6:30am. Got to the store at 7am. 4th in line for those with reservations. Meanwhile thousands of same day people lined up opposite of us.

Out of the store by 8:30am with my iPhone 6 Plus.

I was lucky though, found the reservation link early that morning when the store was down and was able to reserve early. Reservations depleted within minutes.

No line-up at my local provider storefront - first to get an iPhone 6 - NO 6 pluses, manager doesn't know anyone who got pluses. The Apple Store, at the same mall, a bit red-faced DIDN'T receive their shipment ... OOPS.

Just setting it all up know. Bigger than I would have liked BUT not as big as I thought.

For some people it's a historical experience, for others it's the experience in general. People love standing in long lines on launch days to get game consoles, concert tickets and people love to hang out all hours of the night shopping in crazy packed retail stores. For some, people get a real high from that. It's fun. Not everybody wants to just sit to a computer and order their phone. If it's not your game then it's not.

I want a iPhone 6. I do not want a iPhone 6 bad enough to wait in line for it. Get a life.

These people are passionate enough to get up, go early and get in line to get something they want. They work, set a goal, go through the effort and achieve what they want.

And you tell them to get a life. . . while you lurk on a forum posting on a Friday morning . . . Maybe forums are your life and phones are theirs.

Lighten up and realize were all a bit different and a person going after a device like a new iPhone is not someone we should point a finger at and say get a life.

Should we also get off your lawn?

On CNBC they said the line at the flagship NYC store is 20 blocks long. That's nuts.

Two words to those in New York: Grand Central. :D

I got my iPhone 5 2 years ago on Saturday of launch weekend. There must have been 1000 people in line at Fifth Avenue. I walked down to Grand Central and there was no line as they had sold out an hour earlier. But just as I got there the associate said they just got a shipment in. 10 minutes later I was leaving with my iPhone 5 in hand.

Got my 6 plus this morning! It's amazing. Anyone on the fence should def go for the 6 plus. I got lucky and was first in line at my att store and they had only 4 plus and luckily the color and storage size that I wanted! So happy! Good luck everyone

that's awesome man, enjoy.

I own my own businesses. I can sit here, place orders, give orders, and forum all I want... :p

Well, it's been found that the majority of those in line are current iPhone owners. They are just upgrading.
About 5% or less are Android users moving over to the iPhone.
*See Fox, NBC and CNN articles regarding their line polls in various regions.

So yeah, not much new market share.
I guess if Apple can keep the iPhone base around the same, they can sustain their revenue stream as long as all iPhone owners upgrade frequently.

Apple has been selling more iPhones year-over-year since 2007.

It's not just the same people buying iPhones over and over... Apple is clearly adding more users.

Will there be a point in the future where everyone on the planet who wants an iPhone has one? Sure... but I think that's a long way off.

And don't forget... those people will have to replace their iPhones eventually.

I'm not worried about Apple's revenue stream drying up in my lifetime :)

(though there are some other companies who should be worried about that themselves...)

No iPhone 6+

Got in line at 4am at our local VZW store... was 8th in line. They VZW guys said they had plenty of 6+s (80% of the people in line wanted a 6+). When 8am rolled around and we finally got inside we come to find out that they have ONE iPhone 6+ (16gb silver), and that's it! Supposedly they're getting another shipment in today and will call me, but I ain't holding my breath. They could have at least told us to not bother waiting all that time. ... on the upside they are giving me $200 for my iPhone 4S as a trade in so that's definitely something.

Every time I see a photo from a launch line I think of the iPad 2 launch when I tried that at our mall. Security questioned me and told me I can't take pictures in the mall unless it is of my own family or friends as pictures in a mall are too much of a terrorist concern.

These new phones don't even do anything substantially new. They are just bigger. I just don't understand the panic to get this on day one. I can understand pre-ordering for day one, but standing all day in a queue/line for a phone!?
