Instead of the pocket protector filled with pens and pencils we will now be seeing the tops of iPhones coming out of shirt pockets. The times they are a changing lol ;-)

Ram, Ram, and mo' Ram...

What's up with y'all in a rush to see some RAM benchmarks for the iPhone6 ahead of the device's official release this Friday???

C'mon now, let's be honest here, even if the device features less than 2GB of RAM it's not like that is really going to stop the vast majority of you from getting the 6/6+ if you were already looking to upgrade to a larger iPhone.

It certainly won't be stopping anyone, but it's something which would make the most of us very happy.

5.5 looks a lot thicker

That's either because it's closer to the camera, or it might actually be an earlier prototype, and not a production unit. If I remember correctly, the 6 Plus was thicker in the first version, as leaked by Foxconn a while ago.

No.
But many people like me probably did not decide yet which device they'll get;

If benchmarks would show ip6+ having more ram than ip6 then deciding would be a no brainer, for me at least..

I always found that the black (slate, space gray, you name it) iPhone was the most beautiful, IMHO the white model simply doesn't look very nice with the display turned off, whereas the black model always had a nice, all black front. Things haven't changed, the white / gold iPhone 6 (imho!!!) looks okay, but the black looks superior.

Agreed, the white and the gold versions look nice with the display on, but with the display off it just looks weird to have that huge black square I feel. It's not horrible, but I prefer the all black look in the front. Would be awesomely weird if they could find a way to make the display turn white when it's off, but I guess it's just impossible since, well, absence of light is dark.

I think some of you are missing the point. There are a lot of people who think that even the 4.7" is uncomfortably big... so it's a fair question to ask, why not get the even bigger model, if the one-handed use of the 3.5" / 4" display is already sacrificed? If I have to leave the "golden standard" of the older iPhones, why not go full hardcore? If you know what I mean. It doesn't mean that people suddenly are realizing that they were b****ing about the ideal screen size being 4"... it just means that if they don't longer have the possibility to buy a phone that is perfectly operable with one hand (without gimmicks like this double tap on the home button), for some, it doesn't really matter anymore if they are getting an even larger phone.

I want to upgrade my iPhone 4S, but think they are too big. I didn’t like the 5 series because of the weird screen size ratio, but now I’m considering to skip the 6 series as well. The 3,5” is still the perfect size for me.

Agreed that the 3.5" is great. But I think it is time to let it go. Don't deny yourself the increased speed and power of the new phone just because they are a bit too big and not quite as pretty as your 4s. Life is too short to hold onto the past. :D

The 3.5" felt nice, since it is a portable phone afterall, it felt perfect. However, I'm also agreeing that you shouldn't deny yourself the speed and extra specs of the new ones.

Although the 3.5" went from a 4:3 ratio screen, to a 16:9 ratio on the 4"+ phones, it wasn't a true screen ratio switch that would make it weird.
What I mean is that it would have been weird if you were able to see the exact same amount of content on the 16:9 4" screen where the only thing that changed was the aspect ratio.

However, the amount of usable space increased too (as in, an extra row of icons, or more rows of mail in your mailbox, or more of a webpage). And now black bars are eliminated from landscape mode. Had it been purely an aspect ratio change only, that would have been really weird. No one would have liked that, and I would be agreeing that it was a weird change.

You'll grow accustomed to it quickly.

That being said, I love the iPad being 4:3. It's perfect so that websites don't look overly skinny on the couch in portrait mode, and other things. That better not change! :apple::cool:

5.5" isn't that huge; he must have tiny pockets, possibly intentionally to make it look that way. Nice phone - I'd buy it.

Before anyone retorts, yes - I was wrong when I commented that "Apple will never make a 5.5" iPhone 6" - I admit I was way, way off. :)

dem tiny chinese people wid dem tiny pockets

I am glad I ordered the 4.7 inch iPhone. The plus version is freaking huge ! Hope Apple will work on those bezels in the future....

I have been walking around with a mockup of the iPhone 6 Plus and it fits easily in my works pants and jeans.

This is a 1:1 scale mockup made with cardboard, it is actually slightly thicker then then the actual phone. My mockup is 158.1 mm height, 78mm width, 8mm depth

I am only 5" 7, 160 lbs and I wear a size 32" - 34" waist depending on the jean company.

The mockup fits way down in both pockets, giving atleast 3 inches or so room above the device in the jeans and like 4 inches in my khaki dress pants.

Some may say you took this too far, but not anyone who is taking time to read and comment on this site! You my friend are a genius for trying this. I wish I would have done something similar before ordering to help decide. Kudos to you.

Lol - priorities. I know my lady will be thinking about the same thing when she gets her 6.

I am talking about my biggest concerns re: the appearance of the phone. My biggest concerns about the phone itself are how fast is it and does it run iOS and not that Android crap! Believe me, I am not a girly girl, far from it, and if my husband every called me "his lady" he would get punched in the face!

yes, you all keep telling yourselves how 5.5 isnt big. You'll be surprised when you get that thing into your hands.

After playing around with my colleague's Note 3, how exactly would the size of the 6 Plus surprise me? The Note 3 is just a bit wider and thicker (i.e. very slightly more difficult to hold), but not quite as high. The weight is comparable. So anyone who wants to get a very good impression of what the 6 Plus is like, find a Note 3, and there will be no surprises.

And really, the 6 Plus is actually surprisingly not big (trying to avoid saying "small" here). Watch all the hands-on videos. In a man's hand, it looks quite comfortable. The main issue in my opinion is really the weight that becomes more noticeable the longer you hold it. But I am upgrading from a 4S (heaviest iPhone ever before the 6 Plus), so the difference is just 32 grams for me. Upgraders from a 5/5S might be a bit more overwhelmed by the weight.

That 6+ case looks just like a riot sheld

That guy looks like 5 feet tall. I tried a couple of 5,5 phones today and they are not that huge. I would still prefer the 4,7. I'd love it, but i'm always whining about battery life on these forums so i guess i'll have to buy the 5,5.

Thank you sir, some people think I'm crazy, but I didn't want to buy a device unless it fit!

P.S I also don't wear skinny jeans.

Ahhhhh forget it, I just need to stop thinking and be happy with my choice.

No matter what, I'll just want what I don't have.
If I get the 4.7", I'll have 5.5" envy.

Thanks, Apple. :p

Fair points.

My understanding from previous rumors was to expect the 6/6+ to come equipped with 1GB of RAM. Obviously more would be welcomed by most, myself included, but most likely it appears it won't be higher than that.

Be Careful

The back of the new iPhones do not look nice at all. Those lines make the phone look really cheap. I'm gonna have to compare the 6+ and Note 4 in person. But right now it really doesn't look close. The Note 4 is becoming more and more appealing, in every way, over the iPhone. Still can't believe I'm finding a Samsung an appealing device.

The group I work with has a mix of Note 3, Motorola somethings, iPhone 5s, and Galaxy 3 or 4 or whatever. Two of the three guys that had the Notes have had a lot of trouble with poor reception. So much so that one guy gave up and started using his personal 5s for work. And one of the Motorolas won't even last nearly a day on the battery now and the other guy has to reboot often because it loses connectivity. Unless the Note 4 is vastly improved, you may want to consider something else.

Omg, that ip 6+ is the ugliest thing apple has ever made, so uuuugly:eek:

I hope a lot of people think like that. At least I will not be accused of buying a phone only for trying to look cool with it. I'll look so silly with that huge thing, especially when talking on the phone, that people will go: "Huh? He bought an iPhone for the functionality, the ease of use, the integration with OS X and the build quality? Well, that is a surprise!"
