That's a good point. If it's anything like my TV experience, the 5.5" will be an initial shock at first for most, with some lingering thoughts of doubt. But give it 2 weeks, and it'll just be normal and you won't want to go back.

I went from a 42" to a 55", and let me tell you, that was weird. My TV was set up, I was all excited, I turn on the TV... then my girlfriend and I both look at each other and said "Oh man, this TV is really big. Too big? Maybe too big for the space. Hmmm" We were changing the channel to sitcoms, news, etc. It looked too big. We had some worry, a little buyers remorse that we went too big.

It took maybe two weeks before the 55" was just "normal". I no longer even notice its size. It's just the TV as it has always been. And the size really is just normal, I couldn't imagine downsizing at this point. In fact, my next TV will obviously have to be at least a 65" to be worth the upgrade. ;)

Btw, I got the 4.7" this time, but we'll see what the future holds for my next iPhone purchases.

You dont carry around your TV everywhere in your pocket I hope :)

I was all set to get the 4.7" iPhone 6, but I decided to print both mockup on cardboard and pocket them.

The 5.5" is very pocketable in the front pocket of my jeans and work pants.

Before you make a decision, definitely mock it up, its surprisingly smaller then you think.

See below image link for size comparison to Apple Magic Mouse and standard post-it notes.

"Is that a 6+ in your pocket or are you just happy to me me?"

Seriously though, those going for the 6+, are you upgrading from the iphone 5 or 4? Thats a big jump in size. Having personally gone from a 4" to a 4.6" phone myself, I can say it felt like a big leap in screen space. Can't imagine from 4" to 5.5".

Now with my order of a 6 plus I'm thinking...rethinking... Eek is that thing too big? Seeing that shirt pocket picture hit close to home especially after smirking at that guy I saw.

With 4.7" availability slipping to 7-10 days, you look to have a solid week to determine whether or not the 5.5" is for you - well within your 14 day return policy window.

While I'm pretty sure to stick with my 128gb, space grey, 4.7" scheduled for in-store pickup on Friday... I'm definitely interested to check out the 5.5" on display to see if an exchange is in order.

I don't think anyone expected the protruding camera to be a hinderance, just an annojyance.

Really, you are concerned someone may laugh at you? I wouldn't want to work with a bunch of neutered wimps who are afraid someone may laugh at the size of their phone.

It's not practical where I and millions of other people work. You just wait and see how this turns out!

Can't wear skinny jeans cuz my knots don't fit... :)

Yeah the plus should be fine in slacks, but jeans may be a little snug... Sigh. Oh well... Can always sell for a crapton of $ this weekend after I pick it up Friday, and use my 5 till I get a regular 6. :) we'll see though... Will probably be fine!

It's like upgrading from a 40" TV to a 55"..

A 55” television? That’s like the size of a small car! My neighbor down the road aways has a 40” TV on which I could pretty much watch his movie picks from my kitchen if I made the effort. I hope he doesn’t upgrade to a 55” because the light-spill is already annoying. All that flickering when the villains race in for the kill...

But: I’d vote for the iPhone 6 if I weren’t halfway through a contract on the 5C, a phone I like better for now than glass and metal anyway. I love my green iPhone. As I’m interested in Apple Pay, though, I did toy with the idea of going back to two lines since I have a mobile share (only 2GB). Still I have grown used to the size of my phone bill with one line and the $15 discount, and I think I like keeping that bill small.

Once my contract is up then I’m likely to keep that sturdy 5C phone as a WiFi device and switch to the “next” plan to get the 2015 launch upgrade if I like the new iPhone then.

Of course the carriers may be offering different plans by then, who knows. It’s getting so you practically need calculus credits to assess your options any more, sheesh.

5.5 looks a lot thicker

Thinner than the 5S and nearly as thin as the 6. The angle of the picture and lighting distort how thick it really is. Even the picture of the phone in his pocket is distorted. Those are small buttoned pockets - not what the typical man would have on a dress shirt. Some of these pictures seem designed to make the phone look larger than it is.

I think the screen size of the 6 plus is great, but Apple should have shrunk the real-estate above the screen to make it less tall. All of that space may have been okay when the screen was 3.5 inches, but the bigger the screen size, the more that phone becomes too tall to fit in a pocket.

Why do they do this to us? They get their hands on the phone but don't bother giving us the amount of ram, even though we're all dying to know.

I'd say you're in the wrong job, then. With respect to you as a person, show some gumption and man up a bit - you live your life according to what you feel is best and how conscience guides, not according to mockers and ridicule. If you can't handle them, choose another job - they're not the kind of people I'd willingly work with.

It still baffles me that Apple chose to make all the bezels bigger on the 6 Plus than the 4.7" version. You'd think the 5.5" screen would contribute enough to the bulkyness.

So will it be HUGE or is that a smallish pocket? The 4.7" alternative is only 2cm "less huge" (tall) than the 5.5". 2cm is less than 1 inch. So it too would be sticking out of that pocket quite a bit.

2 cm is a lot though, especially when the 4.7 inch is pretty long to begin with. It's close to the Samsung Galaxy S5 in height.

And the plus is about 7 mm longer than the Note 3. That's huge, no matter what pocket you choose.

So the Apple v Samsung war is going to become an all Apple war with 4.7" v 5.5". Why can't people just be happy with their choice and respect what others have chosen, rather than hassle them because they didn't pick the one you did. What you prefer won't always be the same as the next person.

I'm currently using a Lumia 930, which even at 5" of screen is still slightly smaller (length wise) than the 4.7" iPhone. I was going to hold out until the S cycle, but the more I look at pics of the new iPhone the more I'm feeling I want to switch back. I'm waiting to see how each feels in the hand, but at the moment I'm leaning towards the 5.5". I'll have a better idea which I prefer after this weekend. Now to see if I can a way to get the funds I need to pay out my current Telstra contract.......

Hopefully Siri has had some improvements. Even in beta, I'm finding Cortana a lot better to use on WP compared to Siri on my old iPhone 5.

Watch this video for a lesson in size perspective: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEheh1BH34Q#t=86 On my iMac screen, VY Canis Majoris- largest known star in the universe- looks like it's about 2 inches tall. If I hold an iPhone 5s up to that same screen, it looks about twice as big as the biggest star in the known universe. Point? I wonder if the 6 or 6+ will even fit within the entire universe?

Or maybe the guy is just small wearing a shirt with small pockets?

One more time: the 6+ is about 2mm taller than U.S. paper currency. Is a $1 bill "HUGE"?

Huge? Yes, as far as I can say that I wouldn't want to take a phone call with a mobile device that large for any extended period of time. But it works for some people. I personally use bluetooth almost all of the time for calls and what-not but I still think it's too large for me. But to each there own. I'm happy people have more choice available.

For the love of GOD do the benchmark to find out the ram size in PLUS.

Do it yourself, once you get one. That way you won't have to offend people by complaining that they haven't performed X, Y or Z test, which they don't have to do, that you wanted them to. :)

I will not be carrying my future 6+ like the guy in that picture. , but it's a good way of showing relative size.

I've been carrying a cardboard template of a 6 Plus that way for the past 3 days now. It's not how I'll be carrying mine come Friday, but it's not as bad as that pic makes it look.

I'm quite curious what the sales breakdown would be if they'd offered a model smaller than 4.7", say 4.3, or keep the 4". I believe it would have sold well, maybe not as strong sales initially since there's a lot of pent of demand for bigger screen sizes, but over time, I think it would outsell the 5.5" and maybe even the 4.7". We'll never know, but I'm just curious.
