I never understand why these people spend all this money on an iPhone just to drop it on the ground on YouTube for a few views. Give me that damn Phone if you're gonna Eff it up. Sheesh.

They make back many times what they spend by selling advertising on their YouTube page or website. They're not stupid.

Thats what I tell people. Another reason I prefer the iPhone 5 design. More durable than the 4/4S and the 6/6+

Isn't the 5 design basically the same as the 4 other than screen size? I'm surprised it was apparently more durable.

They are the same price as apple care with exception of $4 fee
$79 vs $75

I would rather walk into a apple store and get a new one but I live near a apple store so..

I thought the same thing. And with AppleCare+, you also get, you know, AppleCare in case you phone's logic board goes bad (like my 5 did about 2 months ago)

I have the ultimate fix for this.... DON'T DROP YOUR PHONE. And if you're accident prone GET A CASE.

Simple fix.

After anyone drops their phone, as long as it still works; the show still goes on. lol.. Don't Drop The Phone or do the right thing and get an outterbox..

I can't imagine having a 6 plus with an otterbox... It would be like trying to hold a book to your face.

How do you figure? Apple are is $99 for two years and the deductible is $50 as opposed to $75.

The AppleCare+ deductible is $79 for iPhone according to the AppleCare+ page. I don't know where you are getting $50 unless you are looking at the iPad plan.

Better coverage than AppleCare in what way?

In the way that Square Trade covers up to 4 replacements compared to the 2 covered by Applecare+ and it has a $4 cheaper deductible $75 vs $79.

Don't worry about the scuffs though, the ugly lines/gaps/bands are ugly enough to make you forget about them.

Thats not the first drop test! This is!

First iPhone 6 sold in Perth is dropped by kid during an interview
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lhXOgJ8ahA

O ****. This hurts more than the OP's video. I feel really bad for the kid. :(
And if I were the interviewer, I'd feel even worse and even somewhat guilty.

wait till iPhone 6s (s for Sapphire Crystal)!

Swiss watch owner here. Sapphire can chip and shatter, too. Is it perhaps more resistant? More resistant to scratches and slow impacts/falls yes. Flying out of your hand and hitting a brick wall? It's likely going to shatter.

Hardness makes things more scratch resistant but generally more brittle to impact. Granted, in twenty years I've replaced my sapphire crystal only once... but it's also a hell of a lot thicker than an iPhone screen.

The Android Authority video is kind of suspicious…..it does look to separate on the face down drop and in slow mo it did seem to look cracked…… Then they cut away and come back with a new shot….I wonder if it is fake. But why would they do that? I can't figure out a plus to faking that video...

just look at the small sample size in this fourm talking about that video, I would bet that video gets more hits than the drop test video posted in here

This videos get views and if you have ads that can lead to money and such, so I get it and watched as well.

Did anyone really expect a different outcome though.

I'm covered by the EU for those 2 years :). I don't think it covers accidental damage, but all electronics have 2 years manufacturers fault cover.

This is totally irrelevant to drop testing or accidental damage.

First it is not the manufacturer but the actual seller. So if you buy the phone from a carrier or 3rd party retail it is them you turn to, not Apple. Of course if you buy directly from Apple then you turn to them.

Second, the EU law is about manufacturer defects and/or faults that occurred before you bought the device from a retailer. Any damage that occurs after you take possession that is not a manufacturer defect is not covered.

AppleCare and other third party insurances and extended warranties DO generally cover these items that are above and beyond standard wear and tear. Don't expect to get a new phone because it has scratches or nicks on the sides or back, for instance under AppleCare or any other similar service.

No, they were very different. The 4/4S had a glass back. In addition, the glass on both the back and front were not covered by the metal antenna band. So if you dropped it, it was very likely to fall on one of the glass corners and compress. Glass doesn't handle compression well, so that would almost always result in a shattered front or back glass.

I actually broke two iPhone 4's over two years. I've been using cases ever since.

Had an iPhone since 2007, never dropped it on any hard surface and use no case. I don't get people. Seems irresponsible to me that people need otter box cases. Maybe if they only took their phone out when they have the time and aren't doing other things it wouldn't happen as much. God forbid you have to call someone back or wait to check on sunset pictures on Facebook until you have free time.

It all depends on the exact angle. The glass is WRAPPED AROUND THE SIDES (a little bit). What did you expect? iPhone 5/5s is obviously better with Flat falling with its Flat sides...

What do I expect? Well I'd expect Apple to not change a less fragile design to a more fragile design.

To top it off most reviews have said its very slippery as well. :(
