What if I want to walk in with my shiney new 6 plus that I'm picking up at UPS at 9am, to check out cases and get Apple Care +?
Will I have to wait in line for that?

When I was 16 I waited in line overnight for concert tickets, was some of the best times I ever had and met the friends I hung out with for a few years after that, granted, I'm 32 now, and like my beauty sleep, but I could imagine this being really fun.

Agreed! Your favorite artist doesn't perform close by every year or so, and it's a once (or twice) in a lifetime opportunity to experience something amazing.

How to GUARANTEE there is stock at your local Apple store: Stand outside with a megaphone, and shout "U2 are performing live, inside".

I love U2, but it seems many people don't, and this could be a rather good tactic to use :p

Am I the only one perfectly happy with a 4s that I can actually carry in my pocket?

I would've joined you in that thought EXCEPT my telephone provider threw a $300 hardware credit at me this aft, to re-up for 2 years, so I'll be waltzing into my local store front, tomorrow morning at 7am, to pick up my new 6 64G space grey iPhone.

Paper routes are real jobs.... they can be hard work!

Seconded - I used to have one. The UK Sunday papers are VERY VERY heavy, especially when you're 12 years old, and there's about 30 copies of each weighing down a crappy bag with a woven nylon strap that's digging into your shoulder. I used to get £6 **PER WEEK** for the privelidge... talk about exploitation :(

No, in fact I overhead an apple employee explain to a customer that it would be open and you can look at demo units and purchase other items. The lines are only for purchasing or picking up a phone.

I have to say, I find it a bit pathetic that people have nothing better to do with their lives than wait overnight or in line for hours just for a phone. This isn't some miracle, it's just a phone. When the first iPhone came out, I could understand. It was an amazing new never seen before product. "we added a larger screen, a better camera" (people rush to get it line) Similar situation with the iPad.. Can't see any reasonable person waiting for a watch though.. Don't people have a social life or a job, or something to do?

I waited once for 2 hours for my MacBook Pro 4 years ago on tax free weekend. I was then told if I had purchased online, I still could have avoided sales tax. That's my regret. That was when I has 14 and only had a paper route. Now I have a real job.

But posting on MR forums about phones and other peoples lives is not pathetic I guess.

The "launch" won't happen for me till 10/2-10/13 even though I placed my order 18 minutes after pre-order window opened. Thanks AT&T. What's funny is that I've always ordered through Apple before. I chose to go with AT&T this time because Apple's site was not up and the Apple Store app was not working for me. Oh well!

One of mine said that as well, but I received a notice it has shipped.

As a previous Apple employee, I can tell you right now, that these demo units on display will be stolen within the week. We had so many products stolen it was ridiculous

Same thing happened to me but I ordered it at 12:05 am. I'm really posses with AT&T.

Seems kind of pointless with Activation Lock, no? I guess they could still sell them to some unwitting buyer, though.

I'm a nurse and I work 3 (or 4-5 depending on overtime) 12 hour shifts. I worked mon tues and weds. Staying up from 1900-730 is my regular schedule so having Thurs/Fri off and waiting from say 2-9 pretty much matches my schedule. I have multiple days off so I can afford a few hours and still get all my life tasks done. I don't mind waiting in line since I was unable to preorder. Would it kill me to wait until Oct/Nov to get the phone? Absolutely not. but if I have the means to get it and it's not a huge deal, why wouldn't I? People stay up or wake up to 12 PST to preorder, not too much different
