When I was 16 I waited in line overnight for concert tickets, was some of the best times I ever had and met the friends I hung out with for a few years after that, granted, I'm 32 now, and like my beauty sleep, but I could imagine this being really fun.

I've never been in the line but it's probably fun. So many people interested in the same thing(s) could make it quite an event.

I'm a nurse and I work 3 (or 4-5 depending on overtime) 12 hour shifts. I worked mon tues and weds. Staying up from 1900-730 is my regular schedule so having Thurs/Fri off and waiting from say 2-9 pretty much matches my schedule. I have multiple days off so I can afford a few hours and still get all my life tasks done. I don't mind waiting in line since I was unable to preorder. Would it kill me to wait until Oct/Nov to get the phone? Absolutely not. but if I have the means to get it and it's not a huge deal, why wouldn't I? People stay up or wake up to 12 PST to preorder, not too much different

Whatever. You need to give up on the whole "saving lives" thing and get a real job.

Enjoy your new iPhone. Don't let a bad apple spoil the bunch. :)

I have to say, I find it a bit pathetic that people have nothing better to do with their lives than wait overnight or in line for hours just for a phone. This isn't some miracle, it's just a phone. When the first iPhone came out, I could understand. It was an amazing new never seen before product. "we added a larger screen, a better camera" (people rush to get it line) Similar situation with the iPad.. Can't see any reasonable person waiting for a watch though.. Don't people have a social life or a job, or something to do?

I waited once for 2 hours for my MacBook Pro 4 years ago on tax free weekend. I was then told if I had purchased online, I still could have avoided sales tax. That's my regret. That was when I has 14 and only had a paper route. Now I have a real job.

Cool story, bro.

I have always enjoyed new technology and always will. I am a kid on Christmas everytime. Why is doing something I enjoy pathetic?

Lol young in'

You don't have to like what they do, but they are free to do it.

Every year these posts come out, and every year they're complete B.S.

For many people it is a hobby. If that's what they want to do, who cares? There are a lot worse things one could be doing with their time, like belittling others on a forum because they can't understand how someone might want to live differently than them.

Most of the people in line probably make more money than you, which is why they're in line to get their 128GB Space Gray iPhone 6+ off contract. Don't mistake free time for lack of education or ability.

Waiting in line isn't my cup of tea either, but I'm not going to belittle anyone for it. Neither should you.

Well said.

I queued last year for the iPad Air and had a good time (I am well educated and well paid). I could have bought it online but wanted to queue with other people who like Apple products and share an experience.

I like Apple products, talking and reading about Apple stuff. That's why I am on a forum like MacRumors.

Sorry if I didn't understand this correctly but can I walk in at 8am and get my iPhone 6? I had it pre-ordered and shipped to my local store. Do I need to get there early and line up or something?

I'm just going to show up around 8.

I just have a small local Apple store, it can't be THAT bad can it?

Am I the only one perfectly happy with a 4s that I can actually carry in my pocket?

I moved on with the times and want a smart device that can keep up with my daily activities. The phone part is the least of my concerns.

I would rather be shot in the face than stand there, being applauded for buying a *********g phone. Talk about embarrassing.

Back in the early days of iPhone I would pre-order and pick up in store every year. Now I can't imagine not getting it shipped. Why go through the hassle?

I guess things were a little different then, I was in school and had the time to do such a thing. Now I have it shipped to work and our internal receiving team delivers it right to my desk :)

Keep saying it, if it makes you feel really good. lol Even before the Apple phenomenon, I am a gadgets / high tech fanboy - could not live without the perfect / beautiful / latest / greatest / best (will never buy the "greatest and first" craps by Shamesung) from Nintendo's, Sony Walkman / TVs / Playstation, Nokia's dumb phones and Apple's Mac/iGadgets. I never or will fall in line as the >100th person in the line or camp overnight for an iPhone though or any gadget.

Thanks for letting us know how awesome your life is and how big losers the rest of us are. Especially since you have to take time out of your awesome life to post on this forum and let us all know.

I find it interesting that everyone has failed to mention another thing to expect tomorrow. It is a very common, and very annoying, occurrence that accompanies an iPhone launch: activation servers meltdowns.

With the mass buying of iPhones also comes a mad rush of activation requests that always end up crashing the activation servers. Considering this has been the biggest iPhone launch to date, we should also expect to wait a while before the activation servers are able to handle the load of activation requests.

I lined up instead of pre-ordered so I could be one of the first in the world to hold it in my hand. Didn't realise that this year htey would offer in store pick-up for pre-orders :(

That and I like lining up. All the stores are close to work, and coming in with a big grin to a team of fellow nerds lauding over my phone and jibing me about lining up is nice every 24 months.

Can someone tell me...

if I just want to buy as a walk in from the store - in the past how many days did it take from launch day till one could just go to the store and walk up and buy one - in other words - if it sold out first day from the lineup - how long did it take to get stock back in?

I would rather wait to see and hold the new iPhone 6 and 6 plus before I decide to spend $1000 on one of the new models.

To buy the phone without seeing it, I can see some people walking away disappointed in what they expected, IMO

Just Arrived

Pre-ordered my iPhone6 - just arrived on the TNT truck 30 mins ago here in Australia. Happy Days :)
