It was not a joke, I prefer smaller phones. I do like big screens in general, but I dont want it on my phone. The current iPhone 4/4S size seems perfect for me. If only they could fit a slightly bigger screen without making the phone bigger (maybe with no bezel at all?).

Got it, sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between sarcastic and serious comments around here. Agreed about the smaller size. I don't think I'm getting a 5.5" phone anytime soon.

I doubt the unified volume switch. makes no sense to me and would look ugly.

Yeah, Apple would NEVER do a unified volume switch! That would just be crazy....oh wait...

If you had to choose iphone thin with 20% better battery or iphone normal with 100% better battery what would you choose?

We don't went thinner iphone, it's thin enough.
We want better battery !

I'll take a thinner phone, all day long.

I don't understand what people do with their phone that battery life is such a concern, unless you're gaming on it all the time.

Would Apple really release two new form factors so close to each other? How many people are going to pass on the 4.7" iPhone if the 5.5" one is rumored. iPhone rumors are now mainstream.

Even though I'd want the 4.7" size, I'd wait until the 5.5" one was out to see if wanting it was even a remote possibility.

Launch numbers could be lower than expected if either both sizes aren't launched at the same time or Apple kills the other sized iPhone rumors.

The phone can't get too much thinner than it is now. They are kind of limited by the size of the headphone jack. Unless they go to a proprietary magnetic headphone jack which would be cool.

I don't think you mean proprietary... but rather a simple modification that will continue to accommodate a standard stereo jack. I bet they could make it like a pair of parenthesis where it is open on two sides: ( )

What are you experiencing when using your iPhone 5 or 5s that makes you feel more RAM is needed?

I've gotten some out of memory errors in Excel. Note that this chip is also likely to be used in the next iPad, unless they release a beefed up A8X with more RAM given the larger battery.

If they can get it thin enough, I think it's feasible that you could use a 4.7" one handed, but I really done see that happening with a 5.5" or 5.7" screen. That just seems too big... Thoughts?

I think that you will have an entry in Settings that you would indicate whether you were left or right-handed.

Then whenever you go to enter anything while holding it in one hand, the entry screens would move left or right.

That's how I would do it anyway....

This doesn't make any sense. Why two larger phones? Why thinner? I don't want any of this and I don't think I'm alone.
The existing iphone 5 is borderline too big, too thin and too light. It's a business tool for many of us and not a video game player. I need something that does everything it does now with better battery live and a shirt pocket form factor that can be operated with one hand/thumb. For everything else there are big phones already available.
At least keep one phone-sized phone around instead of coming out with too even bigger ones.
Please.

You're right! Phones should only be made for one type of person's use, and in this case, it's yours!

FYI I am positive you could find an Android device that ticks off all the boxes of things you're looking for.

I like the new shape if true.. I was never a fan of iphone 4 onwards sharp edges!

I loved the original iPhone.. And this seems to be the lighter, thinner , larger evolution of the original design !

How do you know they wont have the smaller phone?
Im willing to bet there is no way apple will eliminate the smaller phone!
They will have a lineup of 3 phones sizes.

P.s. I liked the 3.5 better than the 4"ergonomically !

They will be launched at the same time.. That is too obvious of a mistake if they don't!
Plus imho
Out of the two new sizes I believe 4.7 will be the most popular., hence the earlier production start date for it... Not because it will be introduced earlier!

Isn't the iPhone 5S 4.87" right now??

How would the new model be bigger at 4.7"? Is that the actually screen display size and the phone is actually bigger?

Confused over here.
