I hear a lot of talk about the phablet market but I never see anyone actually using one. Makes me wonder what the demand is. Would make more sense to focus on one new 5" model instead.

That would be awesome.

First to post!

First idi.....

5.5" would be great. Looking forward to owning a larger iPhone no matter the size.

I am so tired of Apple trying to make things thinner. Keep the same thickness and improve battery life.

I agree but you know there is going to be some whiny person that complains it's too thick.

My guess is that this analyst is probably close, but I disagree on some details:

RAM. 1GB isn't enough. 2GB should be the new standard.

NFC. I doubt it. I haven't seen a compelling use for it. I do believe that Apple will go into mobile payments, but not with NFC.

Memory. 32GB new base. Stuff is cheap.

I never realized it but the point about using sapphire screens for Touch ID over the entire screen is really smart.

That was my thought too, and now Apple's mass-production of sapphire makes sense. They could get rid of the bottom bezel if the entire screen would be able to identify your fingerprint. Unlocking the phone would be effortless.

I'm really hoping for full-screen TouchID. That would be a shocker as I think the general public pretty much expects every iPhone to have a home button.

He lost me at 1GB. But if it's the new super fast Micron LPDDR4 this may be true.

In the thread about the leaked schematic some people thought they saw a sd card slot.Maybe it was the sleep/wake button:confused:?

There is no way any of this is close to true. I mean come on the bigger iPhone with a higher ppi then the smaller one. No just no. That's never going to happen. And if the sleep button moves to the side my head will just explode. Every time I use a samsung I press the top to lock it and there's no button. And then I go oh yeah it's on the side and it makes me all angry #############. I hate that so much.

Apple needs to quit using stupid non-standard resolutions and just stick with a 1080x1920 screen for the 4.7" iphone

im not sure if i like the sleep button at all. i use activator to double tap the status bar to lock and it is much easier considering your finger is already on the screen, id like to see them have a different way to lock the device.

That's what I'm thinking, even more so if they stick it in the iWatch haha.... I remember comments on here from sssoooooo many posters declaring NFC was crap, no one uses it etc etc.

If Apple do it, it will be the second coming no doubt

If Apple uses NFC, I think they would probably have good software and supporting infrastructure to make it useful. Apple generally doesn't add stuff just to have a long list of features. NFC might not be great now, but that doesn't mean it can't be great in the future.

It simply to keep developers from getting lazy, Apple wants to make sure apps stay just as good on an iPhone 5 as an iPhone 6 and don't get so ram intensive that they make the battery life get even worse.

So could keeping developers in check as you have alluded to also give us only 1GB of ram for the iPad Air 2 and retina mini 3 as well? Or will the larger screen sizes determine the amount of ram required?

----------

1GB of ram would be a disappointment.

This may be unlikely, but maybe they're holding off adding more ram until the 6s.

Really hoping these new phones have the same resolution. Just because the aspect ratio is the same does mean apps just fit on all screens there will have to be modifications for each resolution for most apps.
