No. After the Sapphire deal fell through, Apple was likely unable to secure a deal with Corning due to time restraints and is NOT using Gorilla Glass on iphone 6.

Can you link to any site or article that mentions this fact?

Dating back to my first iPhone, the 3GS, I always have a screen protector on. While my phone does live in a dedicated pocket in my pants, I also often throw it in my purse. Admittedly the old plastic screen protectors usually ended up with scratches. In fact, I would usually change screen protectors at least once during the live of a phone, changed the protector on my 5 twice. I put a tempered glass protector on my 6 Plus on launch day and there is nary a scratch either on the protector itself or on the area around it that is not protected.

I am anxiously awaiting the release of tempered glass that offer better screen coverage, I will be replacing this one when I see a glass protector released that all reports state the entire screen is covered. In the meantime, I am just enjoying using this awesome new phone! :apple:

I'm certainly seeing a number of threads about scratches. I'm glad I got a screen protector on that bad boy before anything started to show up.

Yeah but have they made a protector yet that fits the contoured edges of the 6? Because day one everyone was complaining and posting pics of their screen protectors not covering the whole screen, peeling up, etc. Looked terrible and didn't seem like it would last, especially with all the edge swipe gestures catching the edge and peeling it back.

For anyone out there who doesn't know, iLoome made the first full coverage screen protector, it covers the entirety of the curved edge, unlike the eBay one linked on the first page, which is advertised as full-coverage, but has photos demonstrating anything but.

I recommend this one as I've used their products in the past, you really can get much better than these, and though they tend to be a bit more expensive, I think they are well worth it.

See the post I just made.

I've had my sg 6+ since the Monday after launch. It gets plenty smudged but I wipe it with a microfiber cloth.

Looking at it now, I see what may be a tiny scratch in the lower left corner in the bezel section, but I can only see it at an angle (not head on), and it may not even be a scratch, but simply a weird cut to the bezel underneath the glass. Either way it's not something I'm terribly concerned about and it's not on a portion of the phone I focus on or need to worry about since it's not on top of the screen.

I have it in an Apple leather case and the only thing it shares my pocket with is my wallet, but the back of the case faces the wallet, not the face of the phone.

Probably because the screen is raised/curved on the 6 compared to the more recessed/flat 4-5S model.

It's a PHONE folks...

You can wrap it in cellophane, but over a year it's going to have SOME signs of use. I have seen numerous phones people claim are "perfect" (because I go naked, and folks like to brag about how nice there's is because they don't) and besides the general satisfaction of ruining someone's day (they started it =P) I have yet to not be able to find MINOR cosmetic damage on a phone after it's been used a month or longer.

It's a beautiful device, and one that warrants being taken care of, but people who freak out over a scratch that you can only see at a certain angle, in the right light, if you're looking for it are being pretty silly in my opinion.

If it impacted the view of the screen that's different, and I have no doubt that DEEP scratches would, but if you get a deep scratch it was because of negligence and not normal wear and tear.

My wife, who is BRUTAL on her phones and uses cases (to my chagrin), still managed to get numerous "microscratches" on her screen if you looked hard enough (and this was the 5S). Not only did it not impact viewing the screen, she actually received "flawless" trade in value (even though they're there, most normal users don't notice).

The sooner you accept that minor cosmetic imperfections are ok and going to happen, the sooner you will start enjoying your phone more. Trust me, I used to be an Invisible Shield/Case/Microfiber pouch guy too, but almost 4 years of nakedness has proven how foolish I was.

It does NOT scratch any easier than a 5/5S. This happens every year because people are more aware of it on their "new" device.

Unfortunately, black bezels will show more scratches than white bezels, not because they are more prone to scratches, but because of light absorption vs reflection. Black absorbs light while white will reflect it back. Thus scratches will be more obvious. Just like on cars. Swirls in the clear coat on black cars are far more obvious than swirls in the clear coat on white cars.

Looks interesting but at .4mm I am wondering how this is going to affect the tactility of using the phone in my Griffin Survivor All Terrain?

To those whose 6 has scratches on the screen: Are you putting anything together with the phone in your pocket? I'm curious because I don't use screen protectors and I make it a habit not to put anything else in the same pocket that I put my phone, and I haven't got any scratches on my 6 (yet).
Just the empty pocket, and I can confidently says that the iphone 6 hasn't screen hasn't touched anything other than my pocket, thumb and micro fiber cloth. Some how it still managed to get scratched.
