Having gone from the 4 size to 5 to the 6 now, yeah, I'm now in the 4 camp. I miss the small form factor and portability. I'm not complaining as I preordered a 6 at launch. I hope they offer a smaller size version in the future. I use my phone as a phone moreso than any other task.

Many of us do not use it as a phone. I talk about 40 mins/month on my phone, mostly to my wife and to my parents for a few mins on the weekends. The rest of the time it is internet, email, text, apps, etc...

for me, a larger screen was a must. I was tired of reading the internet, emails, etc... on a small screen. I had to keep switching to my rMini which then a lot of times I brought with me. Since getting the 6+, my rMini stays at home and is only really used now for video content or iPad specific apps.

True, but the point that I am making is that you all seem to think, or you are trying to impress upon everyone else, that Apple messed up by making the 6/6+ larger than the 5/5S's 4" screen. That they should never had entered into the larger screen phone/phablet area at all. That is how your statements are taken.

It is one thing to say the phone is too big for me. I prefer something smaller, etc..... but other may like the larger screens.

vs

The 6/6+ are just too big. Apple screwed up by launching phablets instead of sticking with one handed usable phones.

If Apple didn't make the screens larger, they knew they would probably lose a lot of customers that would go to an Android device. I know I was heavily considering it myself. I was going to purchase the Note 4 when it was released if Apple didn't release the 5.5" 6+ model. I don't know about the 4.7" if I would have been happy with that. I believe a lot of other people would have done the same. Look at the overwhelming demand for the 6+. Apple is having to up the production line for the 6+ and reduce the volume created for the 6 due to the 6+'s demand. Even Apple didn't expect the demand to be so high.

Either way, enjoy your 1-3 year old tech, 3.5" - 4" screen for as long as you want. It is your phone. If you don't like the newer iPhones, go android or windows phone.

and  back.

When people say 'the 6/6+ is just too big, Apple sucks yada yada yada...' They are just expressing their opinion.

I don't think the 6 or 6+ are too big.

I responded because you just did one of the things that bugs me for some unknown reason :p

I dislike it when people say "in your opinion" or "for you..." Etc when that is just stating the bloody obvious.

I love the form factor of the iPhone 6, much better than the 5. I have an iPhone 4s for work and I still choose the 6 over it.

Sadly those of is who like smaller phones are in the minority. As someone else said if Apple had yet again failed to release a larger phone they'd have been vilified. On the whole, people want bigger phones.

I think the 5/5s is phone perfection. Perfect size. Perfect usability. Perfect functions.

The 5s is still an excellent upgrade option if you have a 4/4s. Sadly I have a 5 and if I got the 5s I would feel like is be buying the phone I already have again. I went from the 4 to the 4s and whilst I got a great deal on that I pretty much regretted not just saving the cash. Because in real world terms the phones were identical.

But now, if you want to upgrade it's working out which is the lesser of the two evils. Would you rather stick with iOS and get used to a new size phones. Or switch to android, keep the smaller form factor and get used to a different OS. It all depends on which is more important to you. Sticking with iOS or sticking with the smaller phone. I'm leaning towards getting used to the larger phone. But haven't made my mind up 100% yet.

Just imagine what I thought about the 5s. It's a toy.

I get the feeling that to many on this site, iPhones or anything Apple for that matter is a toy to be paraded around, addicted to and bragged about. But for many of us, these instruments are tools and the 5 is a damn good one.

That user is most likely calling the 5 a toy because of the size in comparison to the 6 models; they've seen the productivity they can accomplish with a bigger phone now. The 6 models are great instruments and tools, that for me, work better than the 5 because I can see more, do more, accomplish more. The 5 was a great phone for the two years I used it. However, if Apple didn't release a larger phone, I would have gone Android.

If apple had done this in a 5s2 i.e. didn't change the design just changed the innards, I'd have happily bought it. But don't assume that those who don't want a big phone, don't want the latest tech, it's inaccurate.
Yes, its inaccurate... to you.

Theres never going to be a phone that appeals to every user. But in this wave then there are far more happier customers than unhappy ones. So, unfortunately, you are in the minority because the iPhone 6 isn't considered a "big phone" as much as the iPhone 5 is considered a "small phone".

I remember a few years ago when my friend got a HTC one X and Jesus it looked gigantic. I thought it was truly ridiculous. Now in today's phone lineups it looks perfectly standard. I still think for me personally it's too big but I no longer think 'wow that's gigantic'. It just looks like a normal sized phone. And I realise that my iPhone looks like this tiny thing.

I tried the iPhone 6 in an apple store and genuinely think the reachability idea is fantastic. If makes one handed use possible still. There's also already keyboards that squish to one side for one handed use etc. So for the times when you do only have one hand free (I tend to dry my hair with one hand and reply to emails/sms etc with the other) there is still ways it can be done. And I'm sure once iOS 8 has been out for a while longer there will be yet more options. And when it's jailbroken there will be tweaks galore to aid one handed use.

I agree, but I find it juvenile in how people talk about it. Love my 6 by the way....

You will just have to evolve. My gosh, it not that much larger. I guess I can understand if you have really tiny hands. I have the iPhone 6+ and I can't do anything one-handed with it but you don't see me complaining. Personally I really like the larger screen and apparently so does everybody else except for a select few like yourself. iPhones and android phones with bigger screens, nobody really uses a phone as a phone anymore, it's a portable computer that just happens to have a phone in it.

Don't forget about the double tap of the home button to bring all the contents down so you can reach it with your thumb. The iPhone 6 is only .7 inches larger it's noticeable, but not dramatic.
using two hands to navigate through your phone is really no big deal. Not wanting to basically just tells me that it's a sign of laziness.

It's a big deal if you try to use the phone while walking with two hands. One hand use during walk is quite all right, two hands disorients the person. It's better if I'm standing still, then using it with two hands is less of an issue, but still I'd prefer to do everything with one hand. I was getting things faster that way. First of all, now I can't type with one hand at all. I definitely need two hands for typing. And my hands are not small.

Meow, wow everyone, put the pitchforks down. Everyone that loves having a larger iPhone, great, good for you, you have those and get to enjoy them. But not everyone wants phones that large (I know, the 6 isn't that big), and so now you'll hear from the people that want smaller phones complain the same way that people who wanted larger phones complained before. No one is right or wrong, we all have different needs and use cases. No need to belittle some one because they want something different than you.

And while I love my 6 and plan on getting a 6 plus in a month, there is something appealing about having a tiny compact phone, when you got to the Apple Store, pick up an iPod Touch and imagine that being the iPhone Nano, how cool would that be? And heck, pick up the iPod Nano and think of that being the new feature phone for people who just to make phone calls and listen to music.

I hope Apple in the future instead of keeping around the old version as the low end, instead incorporates an iPod style line up. 4 iPhones covering the different price and size points, refeshed every year.

iPhone 6 is way too big (no not the plus)

I like how everyone thinks they know exactly what Apple will do in the iPhone space next year and they will never make a 4" iPhone again. No one knows what Apple is going to do. A year ago people were called crazy for thinking a 5.5" iPhone would come out alongside a 4.7" iPhone. Tim Cooks Apple doesn't seem interested in following a predictable schedule. They released a plastic iPhone. They made a smaller iPad. They are rumored to release a 12" iPad. They are making a smart watch that looks like any other smart watch and comes in multiple sizes.

I wouldn't put it past Apple to offer three sizes of a new iPhone next year. 4", 4.7", and 5.5".

I have upgraded my 4S to 6 recently and this is the most I've struggled to use a smartphone. Can't do almost anything with one hand, I constantly have to take my left hand off my hoodie pockets to do even basic tasks on this phone like changing tracks, typing, etc.

I really don't get why Apple couldn't just release a 3rd 4" size. I loved my 4S. This is a big step backwards.

I feel the same way. I just returned my iphone 6+ and bought a 4s on ebay. Oh, and I saved 700 dollars that I hope to apply towards something else, too!

I never thought the iPhone 6 was too big, quite the opposite. If I was going to use my subsidy on a new phone, I wanted some dramatic upgrades. It needs to last me 2 years. The difference between my old 5C and iPhone 6 just wasn't enough to convince me.

This is how I felt as well after going from the 5S to the 6, and my main reason for ordering the iPhone 6+. The 6 is a nice device, but other than the screen and increased battery life it just doesn't feel like a big enough upgrade.

So, 2+ weeks on, how would you say you are coping with your new iPhone 6? (assuming you've still got it).

I've noticed a lot of people change their views after using it and getting used to the new size. Just wondering if you're now feeling the same? :)

That's not really a solution though. I won't be able to use 5S forever either. Eventually I'll have to switch to this size, it seems.

I just recently bought the 5s because I much prefer the smaller form factor. It's a great phone, only a year old, and if you don't care about the screen size it's not that much behind the current one.

As for the future, I prefer not to worry about it, as I have no idea what's going to happen. I won't be able to use any phone forever, so I prefer to just get what works best for me now and enjoy it. Who knows, perhaps later they'll be something even better.

I use my 5s right now one handed at least 90% of the time. I am 6'5 and although I can handle the 6 plus fine, I feel the 6 is the better option for me because of just the ease of controlling the phone one handed. I don't want to have to change my interaction with my phone to adjust to the size. It can fit in my pocket fine, but there are times when I keep my phone in my pocket when sitting down.

I wouldn't have trouble walking with a 6 plus in my pocket, but I would get a little antsy if I sat down with it in my pocket for long periods of time. That would not be as much of an issue in colder times of the year because it would go in my jacket. Warmer months I would have it in my shorts pocket or cargo pocket. I did the cardboard test for the 6 plus size last month and I had a difficult time positioning the "device" in my cargo pocket(long side parallel to leg and perpendicular). That is an issue when I visit baseball stadiums or venues with narrower seats(that have armrests) for a big and tall guy like myself. I don't carry around a bag with me outside of school/work/gym so I don't have that solution.

That and I would have to get a new workout belt(spibelt) and holster in my car were I to get a 6 plus.

You were blessed with two hands and two feet. Use them all. :D

I use my iPad rMini now only to watch movies or TV shows. My iP6+ is what I use for everything else now. When I had the iP5 it was opposite since I hated reading websites on the small screen.

This is helpful to me. I hate reading/browsing websites with the 5s. Can you comfortably browse websites without holding too close to your face, or zooming in a lot with the 6+?

Idk man if you have semi big hands, I think it is the perfect size, but your coming from a 4S , you have to give it some time and get used to it , but it will grow on you , the tapered edges and the design , It may not be the most operable one handed phone around now but I use my smartphone two hands pretty often, and I can still manage the phone with one hand pretty easily(case defitnetly helps here though in terms of holding on the device and not dropping it lol)

Bigger, sharper screens for the win
