Don't try to grip it tight from both side like you grip the 4s or 5-5s. You will lose balance and have constantly adjust to reach different position of the screen. Your thumb will feel cramped and has very limited reachability this way. Just take it in your hand like a card ( 4 fingers under the center of the phone and your thumb on top of the screen). It will feel very balanced on ur hand and you don't even have to adjust anything when adding your 2nd hand to operate.

I agree that a smaller option would fill a much loved void. I would have purchased it.

Soon enough the 5s will be gone and we'll be stuck with only large phones.

I just picked something up off the floor with the phone in my pants side pocket. I'm wearing standard dress pants and have a 32" waist. The top of the phone was digging into my stomach. Too big.

This is just stupid. Why did Apple have to follow the phablet craze? They did find the best size for a phone to use with the original iPhone. It was perfect. This is just less functional in almost any way.

Its called MONEY. Apple like to make it

This is helpful to me. I hate reading/browsing websites with the 5s. Can you comfortably browse websites without holding too close to your face, or zooming in a lot with the 6+?

Nope. The font is actually a good size that I do not need to hold it too close to my eyes to read it on the 6+ screen.

Now if you request a desktop site and you might have get it closer but I think you will be fine with the 6+.

This is just less functional in almost any way.

Unless your chosen function is having smaller screen, you are demonstrably wrong.

There have been a thousand of these threads and it always comes down to two things:

1. Don't like it? Buy a 5S and sit down.
2. Get used to it.

I have upgraded my 4S to 6 recently and this is the most I've struggled to use a smartphone. Can't do almost anything with one hand, I constantly have to take my left hand off my hoodie pockets to do even basic tasks on this phone like changing tracks, typing, etc.

I really don't get why Apple couldn't just release a 3rd 4" size. I loved my 4S. This is a big step backwards.

That's why they still sell the 4s and 5s.

And yet again......the most important part of your statement is left out........"for me". The "iPhone 6 is way to big (no not the plus) for me"

You realize that the world doesn't revolve around you and your abilities to manipulate an electronic device with one hand, right? I have a 6+ and I can do quite a bit with just one hand such has change a track that I am listening to, scroll through an read the Feedly app, Safari, etc... The Android guys have been doing it for awhile with 4.7" phones and larger. It does take a little time to get used to, especially if you are still using a 3.5" screened 4S. I came from a iP5 to the 6+. It took a little getting used to it but I can't imagine going back to a 4" phone, or a 3.5" phone for that matter. I use my iPad rMini now only to watch movies or TV shows. My iP6+ is what I use for everything else now. When I had the iP5 it was opposite since I hated reading websites on the small screen.

To each their own.

The "for me" is implicit in his post; he didn't leave out a thing. His point, I think, is that he values one-handed operation over larger screen size. He is assuming -- correctly -- that there are others who agree with him. Given that sentiment, he wishes Apple offered a current phone that addresses his needs. Whatever your preference, there is nothing unreasonable about that.

Have you seen the sales numbers?

Most people I know that have a 6/+ are women, some very petite. I haven't heard any complaints. It's pretty clear why apple went big. It's what people wanted.

That's not really a solution though. I won't be able to use 5S forever either. Eventually I'll have to switch to this size, it seems.

Apple stuck two years on the relatively smaller size of the 5/5s and the market had spoken. People want screens larger than 4-inch. If you think the screen is already too big at 4-inch I don't think you have any choice even with Android or Windows Phone. So you're out of luck.

I was in the Apple Store yesterday and grabbed a display 6. The thing felt tiny in my hands (I've been using a 6 Plus since launch), although I did note that I couldn't quite reach every part of the screen with my thumb without adjusting my grip, which I could do on the 5S. However, the amount of adjustment I needed to make in order to do so was minimal.

The OP might have a better time with some of the Android 4.7" phones, like the Sony Z3 mini (yes, a 4.7" phone is now a mini), as most of them have significantly smaller bezels than the iPhone, making them easier to manipulate in the hand. While I'm not one of those people who complains about the size of the iPhones bezels, the 6 is really the size of a larger phone because of the bezel size, so I don't think it's totally crazy for someone to argue that it's too big for them.

I'm upgrading from a 4S to a 6 Plus and honestly I even think the regular 6 is too small. I've played with the 6 and 6 plus in store and the 6 just seems too small for me.

Huh? Is ur life really that difficult?

Everytime I go to the Apple Store to try the 6, I am just not impressed. It is too big compared to my 5s. I want a 5s sized phone with Apple Pay, better camera, etc.

went from an iphone 5 to an s4 to the iphone 6. i love it!!!

i liked the screen size of the s4 and loved everything else about the iphone.

I love my iPhone 6 and would not go back to a smaller screen, but I do miss the portability of my 5. It is more difficult to carry the 6 in my purse and there are times I don't take it with me because it is too large for my pocket and I'm afraid it will get scratched. No problem with handling it and it is in an Apple leather case.

everyone I know described the 4.7 inch iphone 6 as the perfect size. I myself love my plus and am 100 percent comfortable with its size.

Nobody wants 4 inches let alone 3.5, 4.7 and up is what people want.

There's a choice with andriod. Andriod has a dozen screen sizes out there

I can speak on behalf of my Dad who really enjoys the 4S. He uses it mostly as a phone, and his MBP for web browsing... so the bigger size doesn't appeal to him nor does the thickness. He wants a 6 that's thicker and all of the remaining space used for the battery.

Hopefully next generation there will be the 6s Mini and the 6s Plus.
Most people I know who are upgrading their phones are picking either a 5s or a 6+.
Only one person I know went with the 6, and only because their desire for having the latest phone won over their size preference. (though they seem happy with it now)
The 3.5" screen was perfect for me, but I'd settle for 4".

I have larger than average hands but I find even the 6 too big.
Maybe I just have short thumbs, or other people are more comfortable with a less secure grip on the device when using it one-handed.
That might explain how everyone else I know with an iPhone has cracked at least one of them, if not several.

I primarily use it as a phone. It's for quick messages, emails, taking photos, listening to music/podcasts. It's rare that I use the internet on it for much more than a quick Wikipedia/IMDB lookup.

I don't use it as a two-handed entertainment device for gaming, watching TV/movies, spending all day on Facebook, or trying to read books on it, so I have no need for a larger screen.

The only time my current 4s feels small to me is when apps don't let you set the font size. The font on iOS is huge by default and wastes so much of the screen. Even the smallest option in iOS 8 is larger than I'd like.

So why don't I stick with the 4s, or buy a 5s? Well for one thing, I need more storage than I have on the 4s (it's not 64GB) and even the 5s is larger than I'd prefer.
I'd like something newer than the 4s because the camera on it is terrible, and it's missing features like TouchID, ApplePay, and the motion co-processor.

A new 5s is almost the same price as the 6 here, so it's bad value for money, and is now only available in 16/32GB models. I want a 128GB or larger phone. (ideally 256+)

And the camera on the 5s is not very good. It produces noisy images and is slow to focus. If I'm paying that much for an upgrade, I want phase-detect autofocus, and ideally it would have image stabilization too. The 5s body is thick enough for that without having the camera stick out.

Have you tried lightly double tapping the home button? This brings the top of the screen down half way and means for tasks like typing something in the address bar is suddenly within reach. I must say though I have adapted to the 6 and I came from the 5. I can reach the entire screen with my thumb and I'm an average sized guy with average sized hands. I probably have more patience than some people though and work at things rather than dismiss something I can't master in 5 minutes.

Apple released two bigger phones because this is what the market demanded. With competitors constantly pushing the boundaries and releasing phablet devices, Apple had to join in and in fact they probably joined 2 years later than they should have. I was more than happy with the size of the iPhone 5, but many were not. Its not a step backwards but more a case of listening to demand. It doesn't suit everybody I know but in reality that is just tough. :)

Being almost 59 and wearing glasses, the iPhone 6 is perfect for me.

I found the larger screen has just enough real state so I don't have to squint my eyes as much like I did with my 5s.

I also like the newer thinner design. I have big paws so the extra size is fine for me. The 6 plus on the other hand is just way to big to use as my daily driver.

I bought both a 6 and a 6 plus 64 gig on launch day. After testing them both for a couple of days, I decided on the 6 and sold the 6 plus for a nice profit which helped offset the cost of my new iPhone 6. I am a happy camper.
