Is it really that modest though? The larger iPhone will see a 65% increase in the battery capacity. That'll make it definitely competitive against most phones.
Uh. No one ever said that. We're just more than satisfied with the thickness of the iPhone 5/5S.You WANT a fatter phone?
Well you've clearly gotten the point.Every time I take my case off of my 5S I think... damn this thing is awesome and I hate how fat the case makes it. Thinner would mean that a case would make it the same thickness as it is now without one.
For those times...there's Mophie. There is only so much you can optimize, sometimes you just need a bigger battery.
After a year the battery in my 5 pretty much failed. At 15% it would shut off. As soon as I plugged it in it would read 30%+.
Uh. No one ever said that. We're just more than satisfied with the thickness of the iPhone 5/5S.
Well you've clearly gotten the point.![]()
I think we are missing several parts of this story.
First, note that the battery got 20% larger.
Second, one must consider what drains the battery: processor, radios/chipsets, screen backside illumination. We already known that Apple are changing the backside illumination which is bound to make it less power hungry. Apple introduced technologies such as co-processors in the iPhone 5S. I'm sure on no circumstances will battery life reduce. There's good reason to still hope for increased battery life with the 20% larger battery and improved/more efficient technologies.
What about the people that were satisfied with the thickness of the iPhone 4/4S? Don't you think we should go back to that thickness? Otherwise you and Apple will be completely disregarding their satisfaction. Shouldn't you give them some consideration?Uh. No one ever said that. We're just more than satisfied with the thickness of the iPhone 5/5S.
Don't worry guys... this isn't the whole story...
yes capacity maybe modestly improved... but the software tweaks they will implement in the ios 8 gold master will dramatically improve battery life.
Thinner above everything else.
Please go away, Mr. Ives.
If no one wants thinner lighter phones, and this thin-ness and light-ness thing is exclusively an obsession unique to Apple alone, why do Samsung, LG, HTC, Motorola, Blackberry, Microsoft, Amazon, and everyone else keep designing thinner and lighter phones too? Heck, it isn't even like they're just thinning and lightening their own phones. They will specifically brag about their phone or tablets being thinner and lighter then Apple's devices.Yay!
Said no one ever.
Doh! If this is correct then sorry Apple it's not what I need, I need a device with good battery power and longevity. Please listen to what we need rather than giving us your thinner obsession. Will skip this time round even though I would like a new phone there really isn't much point unless it has a better battery.
People here simply lack vision. Thinner is always better. Use a thicker device, and see how dumb it feels.
Cue LOADS of replies saying "I want it thick not thin with more battery"
Well then, why don't you just buy one of those bulky battery add on packs and those of us that prefer thin can keep it naked.
Everyone happy. If you don't care about slim and design then you won't mind a functional battery add-on will you. Where as if you want thin you can't make the phone thinner. Makes perfect sense to me.
You whingy b*stards!
Bigger batteries aren't the answer.
Intelligent power management and more efficient components are.
