Funnily enough the iPhone 3G (and 3GS) is still my favourite. I kinda thought every design since didnt feel as good in the hand and got progressively worse design wise.

My iPhone 1 I feel is even better. Sturdy as a rock. Little chance of it ever bending. Has enough weight so I can really feel it when I use it (good thing). And the screen/device device is perfect for use as a phone.

Yes I still rock the iPhone 1. 8GB.

A good psychologist to get to the bottom of Jony Ives fascination with thinness might be a good start :)

They will just follow standard operational procedure are pretend there is no issue. Best case scenario is some witty comment from Phil Schiller on twitter etc.

Ive is fat. How about Ive make himself 25% thinner on a diet.

Some of you people are unbelievable

It really is amazing how some of you make it through life with your blinders on. If I didn't see it for myself in my own front pocket it isn't happening. Get over yourselves. IT IS HAPPENING. It hasn't happened to you yet? So what, it probably will at some point. Unless you literally just dont ever put your phone in your pocket and kneel down or sit.

I can assure you I am no Apple fanboy. I have owned every iPhone available though. I can also assure you that I am VERY careful with my iPhones, my kids can't even hold it unless they are sitting on the couch. I have only ever "broken" one phone out of 8 and that was because I jumped into a lake with it in my pocket without thinking.

Phones live in pockets, they should be able to survive and just because it hasn't happened to you doesn't mean it isn't happening or won't..or can't..

Yes because like 5 reports out of 10 million sold clearly indicates a massive problem , NOT. Maybe take of your blinder and check out the iphone 6 yourself, than you would know why it sold so many. Unbelievable

Or maybe it's because you guys are idoots and jump on any bandwagon due to the like 5 articles that surfaced on Twitter?
Being stupid is also indefensible.

Mine was bent yesterday in my loose front pocket. 10 million sold does not equal 10 million delivered and in use.

Well, it's pretty clear from the iFixit teardown that this thing has no structural integrity. I mean, where exactly is it supposed to come from? The only component holding it together is the unibody back made out of thin soft alumininum. There is no internal supporting frame, no reinforcing ribs in the unibody, nothing. This is not how a phone should be engineered, and you just need to take apart any other phone made in the last 20 years to see the difference.

The have SOLD 10 million, not shipped, this ain't microsoft.
If you read every review about iphone 6 , they all say that they are indeed awesome (including durability tests) but 5 Twitter reports and suddenly this is the worst phone ever. Same happened with iPhone 5 and people like you think it must be every phone, so you are the truly remarkable if you think this is a common problem.
In other news, screens can brake and scratch and MacBooks might also bend. This tends to happen if you treat your 1000-2000 dollar device like your brain, with not much care. I throw my expensive Mac book pro into my luggage all the time because a laptop is made for travelling

When you look at how the phone was engineered, you would realize that its style over ruggedness. You can blame user for not taking care of their high end electronic device but the phone isn't that sturdy either. its an 50/50 user/Apple fault here.

I've been carrying my note 2 in my pockets for over 2 years. I never had to ever worry about my phone ever bending because its engineer to withstand some abuse. Forgot the fancy aluminum, I want a phone that can survive my every day usage of it.

So you designed the iPhone or know about it? Because what I read on the Internet is something like this
http://www.ecnmag.com/news/2014/09/study-apples-new-iphones-score-big-durability

That's called testing which bears with it results and facts. If you believe a few Twitter pictures or a YouTube guy bending his phone with unreasonable force and take that as facts good for you.

I would love to see what type of durability test they performed and you can have all the durability in the world but if you have a very weak point (where the volume holes are) that it doesn't matter if other components are solid.

The weak point is not the phone but the people like you that buy it. They also take Twitter pictures over real tests done by tech websites and state them as facts and design flaws.
You know what I would love to see, the phone actually bending in a pocket, not some Twitter pics after it was bent or a guy that bends it on purpose.

My point still stands and I don't recall anyone saying it's the worst phone because of this. This issue still needs to be addressed. I'd be willing to bet more have been bent and people just don't realize it yet. Most people don't pay attention to stuff like we do.

Or your fascination with Jony Ive. It's creepy.

What issue? That out of 10m phones SOLD a few pics showed up showing the phone to be bent, with no background facts or any real testing. It's a joke.

Well we will just have to wait and see. Don't bump into anything on the way through life though it can hurt.

As a user who has been carrying an 5.5" phone in my pockets much longer than Iphone user, I think I can comments how what's its like to work with a phone of that size.

I don't have a camera in my pocket, I think most people don't.:p

I am sure there is some user who are 100% responsible for their misadventures. I don't doubt it but I don't think its an 100% their fault either. I don't remember seeing any post on Note 2/3 bending. They are build like a rock. Is it too much to expect the same thing form Apple ? Haven't they build their reputation on better design/higher quality fabrication over the years ?

I am not an Apple haters, I just bought a MacBook Air this week. I always had a Mac since 2005 because of their outstanding quality. I demand the same level of quality from Iphone 6/6+. I want to go back to Iphone so I can buy the apple watch next year.

If Apple or any website states clearly that the iPhone 6 or 6plus has a design flaw (they are actually stating it's one of the most durable, including the high end androids) I'll be the first to apologise.
Until then tho I believe in tests and results from real tech sites and not the same few Twitter pictures that have been making the rounds on every website. So should you.
You know what's a real problem, ios 8.0.1 on the iPhone 6s, omg what a f up.

Then obviously my "skinny" comment wasn't meant to offend you. In all seriousness, I am worried about 6+ bending (whenever it get's here).

I'm sure there are case makers staying up late to create a non-bending case right now.

No offense taken. I'm just simply saying that I wear regular jeans that are fairly loose fitting, and I can see the potential for this phone to still get bent under regular usage from sitting and any energetic movement.

I don't think it's going to be too much of an issue if you are vigilant in taking the phone out of your pocket before you sit down. A lot of the time stresses placed on phones when they are in your pocket and you bend over to say tie your shoes. I definitely wouldn't do that with this phone.

I'm sorry, but it is absolutely and completely the user's fault if they bend their phone. Apple isn't responsible. Just look at the phone and exercise a little common sense! It is extremely thin, and the 6 Plus in particular has a huge difference between its thickness and its height. So any appreciable load on either end is going to have a considerable mechanical advantage and will likely produce bending. Anything this thin, and this large, will have less resistance to bending than something thicker/smaller. The fact that it's as durable as it is (I noticed that in the photos I've seen the screen is fine!) is testimony to how well constructed it is. Until we see a whole new breed of materials, people are going to have to accept that they can't have it both ways; thin and elegant, and strong enough to endure the majority of your body weight.

It's like thinking that a long distance runner can take on a wrestler. People are going to have to take some responsibility... Otherwise we're just slowly progressing toward a culture in which nobody is expected to be accountable for any damage they to do their possessions, their bodies, others, or anything for that matter. We will have to be completely regulated, 100% of the time, like infants... Is it a drag to realize you've damaged something you own, particularly something relatively valuable? Of course. Is it anybody else's fault. No.

You sir win my Apologist award for today. Gold star for you.

How on earth did you reach the conclusion it was an alloy?

You do realise that you can have an iphone that is made of Aluminium as stated by Apple. An alloy is when aluminium is mixed with another metal. If it was an alloy Apple would have announced it, as a major feature.

Want to take back my Apologist award buddy??? Or my gold star???
