I call fake on this video.
Im not sure if its mentioned or not.
But when he starts the bending, you can see the phone is a tiny bit bent already.

And if you look at the time, its set at 2:26, but when he is showing the phone its set at 1:59.

So its almost like he bent the phone first, then bent it back. And then bent it again. To show how easy it is, but since the phone was already bent its easier to bend again of course.

(Not sure if this have been mentioned in the thread already.)

If you look at the other videos he shows later when trying other phones he try to bend, he starts shaking in his arms on many because he is pressing hard, but when he tries on the Motorola Moto X, you can clearly see he is faking it.
And then praising it after about how exceptional it is.
Feels like sponsored content really, to discredit the iPhone and hail the Motorola.

Odd that a Google search for "bent iPhone 6" reveals basically the same 10 or so pictures repeated over and over. You'd think if there were an epidemic of bent phones, a greater variety of pictures would be showing up.

Yeah, it's more than odd. I mean, there are a couple of million iPhone Plus out there, right? And even if there are a couple of hundred iPhones defective in their structural integrity, that would be a very low percentage. These people could -- and probably are -- returning their iPhone to be replaced and are not making a fuss about it.

Very well spotted.... similar to a recent Samsung advert regarding ALS challenge.

Observe the battery level and the time shown on phone pre/post the Ice was thrown

I have a 6+ on order currently. I'm also a mechanical engineer by day. I see a lot of "well duh if you bend it, it's going to bend" type comments, but it seems clear that this is something Apple overlooked. They should have predicted that under many normal circumstances people were going to put this phone in their front pockets. The phone shouldn't bend that easily. The guys phone was noticeably bent even before forcing it with his hands. Apple simply failed to analyze this scenario. It makes me wonder if they even run any kind of structural analyses at all on their phones, a simple Finite Element model would show this phone lighting up like a christmas tree at the weak spot in the case (clearly near the volume buttons), and could be reinforced fairly easily without sacrificing thickness of the overall device. Jony may be a good designer, but he is clearly a *****ty engineer.

Suffice it to say, I will not be putting this phone in my pockets ever.

You spoke the TRUTH! I am getting a 6 and this doesn't change my mind, but it will make me handle it with a white glove and not put it in my pocket unless I put it in a strong PLASTIC case.

Apple's obsession with 'look' and 'feel' does sometimes override practicality, how dare we put our phones in our pockets?

Yeah, but that's assuming the phone was indeed bent just by simply leaving it in a pant pocket. We still have no independent verification that that was the case.

Really? And you are satisfied by the anecdotal, and suspect, evidence we have been presented with, that there is, in fact, a problem? I always thought engineers were more, well, careful with analysis, especially after some of those nasty "bendgate" bridge incidents in the past. Or have you forgotten what that iron ring on your finger represents?

Hey, not saying there might not be a problem, but where I come from the plural of "anecdote" is not "fact". I am waiting for enough real information to condemn Apple for a fault, though of course that is not nearly as interesting.

In another thread I reversed my thoughts a bit, after Apple showed the news agencies into their test lab. The only other plausible explanation is this whole thing was a hoax fabricated by folks trying to bring Apple down. I personally feel a lot better after Apple's response, and seeing the extent of the testing they indicated the phones go through.

I agree with you, and reading the latest articles, it seems that people ON PURPOSE did it, just like they did with the 5s.

Anything for attention, anything for being a 5 second youtube celebrity

Came back from the Apple store…I tried to bend 2 pluses, but I couldn't…I guess this means I gotta hit the gym, as its a statement as to my physical state...

But really now, would you have made that comment if he was female? It's not his fault he was born male..

If it butters you bagels, I too have big 'bear' fingers. I meant to accentuate on the fact that he was exerting a tremendous amount of force on the iPhone to bend it, which doesn't relate to any everyday, normal circumstance (eg. keeping your phone in your pocket and walking). The problem with juveniles like you is that even if you see a banana you'll scream 'sexism'. Please grow up and quit that BS.

This is clearly an issue and some are just comoletely ubsurdly defending the build quality...like some sort of religion.

Actually, it is... It seems the brain activates the same area (probably to suspend reason) when having an "experience" in both fanboys and religious people... And it's not just with Apple, we have the same irrational people with Linux, Android...

After Apple Inc. dodged the iPhone 6 Plus BendGate bullet, detractors wounded by ricochet http://t.co/AUHwhpGOdP (via @appleinsider)

Can we just finally give this a rest, there is no bendgate, just some idiots trying to stir the pot like they do every year. Love the people here tho that are apparently some great designers and immediately call Apple out for design mistakes. It's hilarious since the evidence clearly states that the phones are super durable yet people still like to take Twitter pics as evidence and facts.
