Tried 6 tabs opened yesterday in Safari at different times yesterday at different places using LTE and Wifi switching, opening and scrolling around websites. No problems on my Plus whatsoever.

So you can spend 10 minutes browsing in Safari, then open an app and spend 10 minutes in there before returning to Safari and none of your tabs will reload? Then go back to the app 10 mins later and that won't reload either?

There are millions out there sold. I do not discount certain ones having issues but I never read anything whereby the percentage was high. I would have returned my Plus within 14 days if there were issues.

The phones in store ran like my 6+. Occasional dropped frames across the board? Check. I could also notice the scaling effect used on the 6+. I remember using the same apps on my wife's iPhone 6. I had none of the issues. Her phone smoked my phone in day to day use.

One of the more maddening problems was Safari tab reloading with only a few tabs open. I've done it with as little as 3 tabs open: use tab 1, switch to tab 2, switch back to tab 1. Bam... Safari needs to reload. I could do this with only Safari open.

In iOS 8.2 I believe Apple is using some tricks to mask this behavior. I use MS webmail to check my email on the go, and I catch Safari asking me if I want to "submit the form again" while I'm browsing the tab list. This shouldn't happen unless there is reloading in the background.

iOS 8.2 still has some issues, but it's much better in my use cases than iOS 8.1. I haven't tried iOS 8.3, but I see a positive trend.

My 6+ lags.

Not enough to be a deal breaker, but it does stutter here and there.

It seems to be when loading graphics, so it might be the slower flash chips that are causing this.

My 5S was buttery smooth, so it is noticeable.

I have the 128GB version.

I see there have alot people issue with.

I dont think apple wil bring this year 2 or 3 new iphone's like a iphone 6Plus S,

I think there only will a update to the 6 and the little ones.

I see that lotof people complaiming about the 6+.... Is Apple going fix this?

Do you think the OS or its a hardware issue?

That's not normal, not with only three tabs.
Some advices:
Use another browser, since safari seems to be the worst;
Restart your device from time to time;
Close any unnecessary app in background while browsing the web.

With my iDevices I can usually keep 4 tabs opened without any reload.

In this moment I have 3 on my iPad air and four on the iPhone 6.... flawlessly.

I can. But even if you for some mysterious reason can't, what's the problem if ten minutes later when you open safari again pages are reloaded ???

Of course it isn't normal. It's the same complaint many 6+ owners have made. Pseudo-closing apps or restarting the phone doesn't fix the problem. Also, due to how iOS allegedly handles memory, background apps shouldn't affect Safari while I'm using Safari.

My phone under iOS 8.2 runs much, much better. Updated 3rd party apps is probably helping. Obvious reloading of tabs happens much less often, but I see that Safari is masking reloading tabs. Also, the caching Apple uses many times will display an image of the last web page for an instant before showing the current page. Other apps, like Music, also do this. The more I think of it it's a recurring comedy of bugs. Today, while streaming audio over bluetooth, all of my albums disappeared. I had to close and reopen Music.

I've gone over my data plan much more often with my 6+. I wonder how much data constantly reloading tabs is using.

I can't reproduce the problem what you have in 3 tabs, nothing else open in the background...

So being sayd that, they are 2 kinds of devices. The people from the launch have the most problems, i have test fron the launch and the model that i bought a few days ago, so i have now 2 iphones 6+ models, 1 from the launch and 1 from a few days ago,

And YES, there a wheights differance, the latest model is heavier theb the device from the launch.

Also i can't reproduce the problem that you told us, with switcing between 3 tabs, so it keeps reloading...

Yeah if you count far less than 10 people out of millions of iPhone 6plus owners (and that includes you and your buddy Sunking) complaining about the same issue as " A LOT" then yeah.

I have definitely noticed some lag with my iPhone 6+, but it's not a deal breaker. The screen is beautiful and I prefer the larger size of it compared to the 6. Sometimes I notice lag while typing in Messages with other apps open, but my main issue is with Safari constantly telling me it ran into an error and needs to reload the webpage. Like another poster said, this happens even with 1 or 2 tabs open. It seems to me like this is more of a software than hardware issue, so I am hoping this will be fixed in future iOS updates.

This was more likely to occur for me using pre-iOS 8.2. Using iOS 8.2 this is much less likely to happen. Also, it there are some forum pages that Safari has trouble running. That's the infamous "something went wrong, must reload" error.

iOS 8.2 still has the rare OS crash where I have to reset the phone to recover. It's much better, but it never should have been this bad in the first place.

Duffman, i wanna thankyou that you testing it for us, i realy appreciate it that you testing it for us. Stay with us, tomorrow big day, the launch of ios 8.2

In direct comparison to the iPhone 6, my 6+ is definitely less smooth. Scrolling is stuttery, not only in the easily reproduce-able wallpaper choosing screen but across the board. And I have to add: it is the first iPhone that I ever felt was not completely smooth in day to day use when it was the top tier device.

This is part of the reason I jailbroke my phone just to use the tweak SafariBlankPage so I could avoid overages! I wonder if they can get a hold of how safari manages tabs in memory or if being its using 64 bit and 1gb of ram this is how it's going to be till they up the ram!? I miss my i5 on iOS 6. Those were the days..

I don't think iOS 8.2 has nothing to do with safari.....
As usual, I'm prone to think at the placebo effect. Safari is snappier, as usual

Well, as more than a bug fix update it can have various imrpovements across the board. Hard to say if it truly addresses certain things so far until the final version is released and more people use it and perhaps more objective comparisons are made, but it can certainly in fact make something like Safari actually "snappier".

Examining the leaked changelog I'd say no.

Memory management in iOS isn't going to change so dramatically in a point release. Maybe iOS 9 will bring something new (and the jump to 2 Gb of RAM will help).

Perhaps not as likely, but at the same time we've certainly seen that not everything is covered in the release notes, especially if it's various more general under the hood optimizations that might be hard to specifically assign to anything in particular but can have some effect on this or that for different devices/people.

iOS 8.2 probably includes an updated version of Safari and/or WebKit. Did you bother to think before posting?

This is probably the funniest post I've read in this thread. Thanks guy, you made me laugh my ass off.

There's nothing in the change log pointing to any updated version of safari.

I'm very happy you can laugh with your ass.....

Honestly speaking, I've noticed some serious lag on my 6plus since launch day. I've turned on and off transparency as well as motion and the only think that I have noticed that decreases the lag is having the display set to zoom, which I tried for the first time today. I can say it's a complete 180 in performance, BUT it negates part of why I liked the 6 plus.

Hopefully this is something that is addressed with iOS updates.

I can admit when I made a mistake. As for a placebo effect, I have access to 2 phones: a 6 and 6+. Back when I was running iOS 8.1.3 I ran the same apps from the same iCloud back up (which support told me was the preferred method) to test both phones. The 6 smoked my 6+. I bet people here, like you, will say I was imagining this. Safari didn't behave the same. Ran diagnostics on the 6+. Nothing was wrong and I was told to wait for an updated version of iOS or updated 3rd party apps.

As I stated earlier, I don't know if the improvements are caused by Apple fixing iOS or updated 3rd party apps. Given Apple's track record of late, I guessed that it was iOS. Did you run every beta? I did and I saw Safari improve right after updating to the next beta. And speaking of release notes, I've seen improvements that weren't mentioned in any change logs. I saw Apple improve and then remove the improvements to app switching that finally made it feel as fast. Don't believe me? Search for my post history. I complained about this months ago. Oh, but I bet you're going to say I was just imagining that performance improvement.

You are making things up.
I didn't accuse you of anything. I just pointed out there are no evidences so far about any improvement in Safari on iOS 8.2
If you read feedbacks from beta tester, you are going to receive very different opinions, as usual. For one is faster, for another one is the same, another one again and it's slower.
I'm just saying: wait a few days for final release and we'll see.

As for the placebo effect, you can see that after every update. A lot of people reporting improvements on battery life or performance not backed up by any test.

What am I making up? Do you think that Apple lists every fix in their release notes? I'm not reading feedbacks from other beta testers. I am the beta tester. I tested every 8.0, 8.1 and 8.2 beta. I saw the improvements and at least one improvement that Apple removed.
