Why would I need to try another device? Wouldn't it be better that Apple tried to fix the problem?

But they are evidently not, so why not move on? Me, you, no one here is changing anything by discussing this on a forum no one really cares about, so why the fuss guss? But seriosuly, if it doesn fit your needs, and theyre not fixing it, then why not move along? If something wasnt meeting my needs, and it wasnt going to be fixed, I'd go find the product/object that did....seems silly to complain a lot when they're nto fixing it, and you could explore a plethora of other devices on the market??? seems like you're trying to ice skate up a hill, when you could just put sneakers on and walk somewhere else.

Some of us may not have issues and the phone works fine for us. Does that threaten you? Not all of us run around with 12 Safari Tabs open all day every day on our cell phones. Just saying.

If you don't have the issue, then how cool. I envy you, I really do.
But don't make assumptions, I never ever have opened 4+ tabs in my phone. And I have the issue. I am not insulting anyone by saying I wished Apple solved this insignificant, maybe, yes but annoying issue.

That is what I don't get. If you don't care about this stuff anymore, I envy you. How cool that you are in a position where you couldn't care less.

Maybe my "phone research" is meaningless to you, but for me is very important. I need it.

But since my money has the same value as your money, why is it so bad that I complain about this issue? That's all I ask.

What kind of research is it? For school? What are you researching? And if it is som important why are you not doing it on a powerful machine where you can do unlimited things with plenty of RAM??? Not trying to be rude, just if this is such important research why are you attempting to do it on a device YOU KNOW isnt working for you??? seems backwards is all....I wouldnt do research on a device that limited me, it would be pointless....Thats what I dont get about you, if what you're doing is so important, then why are you doing it one something that is hindering you, when you can use your computers, another table or phone that suits you? Seems silly to argue here, when theres lots of easy things to do....

You are the one that doesn't get it. The 6+ does not have 2 GB of RAM because it doesn't need 2 GB of RAM.

I never knew Apple had so many fervent stockholders.

Seriously, moderators, is there anyway to nominate this as the most ridiculous post of all time?

So why not send the feed back to Apple? Why whine on a forum and get upset if others see this as a non issue? Whining in a forum gets absolutely nothing accomplished. Let me help you:

Apple iPhone FeedBack

Thank you sir, but here is the problem. I already did that. Multiple times. I know whining here won't solve anything. Believe me. But at least I get to see other people having the same issue.

What images, what animations? It is just a plain text website. With maybe 1 or 2 images. And sorry, I don't know all that. I don't have too. I just want Safari not to reload.

Okay let me try to explain this.

For Safari to display text it has to be turned into Pixels. On iOS this will most likely be done by an Apple framework called CoreText.

https://developer.apple.com/library...xt_Programming/Introduction/Introduction.html

If you take the text 'Hello World' you can't just pass that to the GPU and it magically display it on the screen as the GPU doesn't know what that is, it only understands images, instead you need to turn it into an image before the GPU can display it.

To achieve this you would pass the text 'Hello World' into CoreText, it turns that text into what is basically an image representation (rasterisation) of the text in the correct font and this image (usually in raw uncompressed pixels) is then pushed to the GPU which then draws it on the screen.

Now take this concept and blow it up to a much larger scale for a webpage, every single piece of text has to be turned into an image to be shown. It's the same with curved borders and shadows from CSS, they have to be turned into pixels (images) to be displayed on the screen.

Ultimately all this uses a lot of ram to store the rasterised images, especially as it will probably do look ahead rasterisation and other things to speed up the scrolling.

Is that any clearer?

You're may not be rude on purpose but it's there. You are, however, clearly facetious and rather proud of that.

Wow some of you have just gone over the edge.

Please tell me, oh wise one, why the iPhone 6 Plus so desperately needs 2 GB of RAM.

Edit: I didn't even realize you also posted this. You need help.

Smartest guy here and he wins based on facts and logic.

Let's see how the trolls creep in to tear his posts apart just because they need some sort of validation for buying a ridiculously overpriced "phone" that is lagging behind the rest of the tech world (not just Android).

All 1gigers need to feel safe and secure with their purchase and advocates of more RAM seem to destroy their illusion. Not sure if these are projections of their ego's or not... I am sure they are this annoying in real life and I pray I never meet any of them.

Cause I don't have other choice. Believe me, if I did, I wouldn't be suffering. I can't carry an iMac to college. Due to my schedule, I have to be at school almost all day. Therefore I need to do my stuff on the phone.

You're not alone, no matter how some may make you feel that way.

My iPad air is constantly rebooting. Maybe 1 respring every 3 days iOS 8. On the whole however 8 is a noticeable step up in general efficiency from 7.Safari tabs reload less often or at least it tries to preload them it seems

LOL so because Safari tabs isnt a big deal for me, means I dont need a smartphone? When did you put cameras in my home to know who I am, what I do and how I use my phone? I mean, I can't possibly not do anything heavy on my phone, I'm not all bent out about 1GB RAM, life is over.....You realize there's a million productive things on a phone besides the ol' safari browser right? Safari must be a horribly important part of your business and life if you're that sore over this, the horror bro, the horror. I wihs you luck in whichever product you choose, I hope you can have lots of tabs, and lots of RAM, you seem important, I hope you get it!

someone should tell him the 2GB of RAM on my galaxy does nothing for web browsing I still get crashes, lag, freezing and I get maxed out on 16 tabs

actually 16GB on my MBP and safari still crashes and I have to force reload tabs from time to time

I don't do it because iOS is still the best option around. That doesn't mean it is perfect.

Thanks for replying with your age, 21 explains it all. Not saying thats bad, wish I was 21 again, just saying you're 21, you're years away from not caring about these things. I can't wait until these things mean zero to you, life is going to be awesome from then on.

Good luck on your phone research.

Age is irrelevant in this discussion. This isn't a philosophical forum or debate.

And if it means "nothing" to you, why are you constantly replying with messages that further your own "I don't care" ideology?

If you don't care, why are you even here?

i am just curious: what type of performance increase you are expecting from Apple's ASIC each year?

to me, packing transistors double on A8 from A7 on a 20nm process with 15% shrinked die size is incredible already.

That was a year ago. What is their excuse this year? Looks pretty stupid to keep recycling the same speed benefit over and over again when the true benefit of 64bit is accessing more memory. To me you only got one year to brag about increased performance from using 64bit. Judging from the preliminary benchmarks we hardly see an increase in performance from 2013 to 2014.

Dude, if you need a laptop to rid yourself of the terrible no good safari tab reload issue, let me know. I have two nice spare tiny Dell laptops here, no one uses them, they have Win 7, full office suite and 500GB HD. I will gladly help you out if you need a computer on the go, doing any research on a phone is silly, and I'd say that to anyone.

The problem is, Apple isn't going to fix the issue for you, and nothing here will help. And complaining, really yeah it sucks, but it is what it is.

But seriously, like i said, I know thy're Dell's but theyre barely two years old, and I know everyone under the roof here wouldn't mind helping a college kid, doing your stuff on the phone is silly. Let me know, message me through here, I dont mind helping you secure a laptop so you dont have to worry about this tiny safari issue.

Thanks man. i just find it ridiculous that people are attacking us for making a complaint about a real and annoying issue that could be avoided.

Some people get fired up about these things.

Those of us that advocate more RAM, and ask for issues to be fixed, are generally calmer and present facts.

I honestly don't know what the "less is more" thing is about but it almost seems like a driving agenda for many forum members. I just placed one person, my first ever, in my "ignore" list.

I sorta wish Apple offered RAM BTO options, then we could see if the 2GB detractors would save $5 and opt for 512 or 256mb of RAM. You know, because iOS is so awesome and we don't "need" more RAM.

Actually it isn't, it helps align where peoples priorities are. Where as an adult with a mortgage, loans, wife and kids, that person isn't going to be on a forum bitching about RAM. But a kid, or young adult, student yeah they will be, why? Because they have was less heavy things to care about....

Also, I am here because it's the internet, its everywhere, I can't avoid it. And I like watching people, like you, reply, to posts and stuff, it's funny reading the world.

You Edd Dantes get two internet points!

if your research needs non-refreshing web browsing experiences, why not have an android or laptop or desktop machine instead? at least it might not hinder your work further.

OK, I'll take one please. Not even kidding.

As you may know. No $$$.
