2014.............and 1GB of ram on apple flagship phone.........amazing....Please take my money.......

2014 and your competitor has the phone that is the standard bearer for phablets and you come out with a half *** effort. IF I'm going up into big boy phone land I need your A game not your D+.

Anyone know how much amp the charger will be pushing? The 5s takes a little over 2 hours from dead to full with the 1440mah battery. I hope apple uses the same charger as the mini since it's a 2915mah.

I'm sure you know SOOO much more than the 1,000 of engineers at Apple. Maybe you could apply for a job there?

Also... iPad 3, 4 and Air have 1 GB of RAM... and higher definition screens. You don't see that being a problem there. I wouldn't call it "tragic". Wow you have a messed up idea of "tragic". People getting beheaded is tragic. Not fulfilling your every whim and fancy... yeah no one cares about that bud.

Go get yourself an Android phone with 4 GB of RAM if you need 32 tabs of porn open at once. Just make sure you leave one tab available to look up the meaning of the word "tragic".

I'll just wait with my ip5 till ip6s comes out.. not saying it's a disaster but apple definitely lost one guy upgrading.

Thank God comments like this don't affect technology otherwise we would still be using Kyocera phones.

Is that so? I'm actually flat out saying that there are options if you need more than 1 GB of RAM. Therefore, technology isn't being hindered by people not caring about the amount of RAM in the iPhone 6/6+.

What I'm saying is that there is a whole other side of technology- the software. Apple could just as easily allow Safari to use more of the RAM that the iPhones and iPads already have, which would alleviate the tab loading issue on all devices, not just the newest ones. The vast majority of people complaining about lack of RAM are talking specifically about Safari- doesn't that imply a software fix could be equally as beneficial?

Again, 2 GB of RAM would be nice- it's always good to give app developers more room to work, so to speak. But I'm coming from an iPhone 5 which I'm already plenty happy with- the bigger screen and A8 processor are a huge improvement alone. I have no reason to believe that my experience with the 6+ is going to be any worse than what I have now, and I have several reasons why it's probably going to be so much better.

So really, I don't care why Apple chose not to include more RAM. Even if having more RAM was a big deal to me, I wouldn't care why- I just wouldn't buy the phone.

Everyone acts surprised. I'm sure this is a feature.

Tim Cook said he wanted to make a larger phone when they could do it right. Whatever that means. As if an iPad was impossible to make? I'm sure it'll come out next year, and he'll be sure to mention it during its release.

Great, thanks a lot Apple. Now I can't have 40 tabs open at the same time. Apple is doomed

No need to be an apple apologist and over-exxaggerate. Tabs reload when you have only 3 or 4 open.

lol cue thousands of internet phone engineers explaining why the iPhone NEEDS 2GB of RAM.

It doesn't take an engineer to know that more RAM = good. Apple apologists.

Yes, whatever you say.

You're right. Less ppi is better, worst stabilization is better, and who needs a phone that lasts all day? I hope the next iPhone comes with no Retina, software that automatically gives the effect of motion blur, AND has a 15 minute battery. You know, real improvements!

This RAM thing is such a pressing issue. IMO it only matters if a reasonably large portion of the user base is affected by it. From what I gather, both iPad and iPhone users for the most part are NOT affected by RAM and wouldn't know the difference if it had 1GB or 5GB of RAM.

I understand the frustration of tabs reloading and even though I haven't had any problems on my iPad with safari I can feel for those that have. It's annoying to have tabs refresh when you are working between forums and sites. Apple MUST take care of this issue but I believe the "fix" can be found within safaris memory management or lack thereof.

The reason why I won't buy it to this RAM thing is that it never manifests itself in any other apps or situations. Always safari. Always. That to me says safari is real problem. If it was truly a system wide RAM shortage, the entire experience would suck and all the fancy games and apps would crash immediately. But, they don't.

That's my take on it.

I actually dont care, I just like seeing what you type. And you're doing research in Safari on your phone?? Must be tremendous research. I mean dont all the greats use their iPhones for research? That research of yours must be top notch stuff, real important!

And yeah you do need to chill, think about it, you're upset because tabs reload in safari, let me type that again, yo're sad because tabs reload in safari. Now sit on that,.....yeah you need to chill. Not even chill, more like realize you're not doing serious research on your phone, and having tabs reload in safari is the world most meaningless issue, seriously man, think about it. When you look back on life one day, youre going to sit back and laugh at how you wasted even a minutes worth of air and life on caring about safari tabs reloading. I'm curious, how old are you? Don't lie....I'm just curious if an adult with everyday bills and issues and life is this bent over tabs in safari reloading...

You seem very angry at people who use their iPhones differently from you. Do you think it was a mistake for Apple include the feature? Would you like to see a limit in the number of tabs iOS Safari can open at one time?

I'm not angry, but I do want tabbed browsing in Safari to perform well for a few reasons:

1. I leave lots of tabs (a dozen or more) open on my iPhone. It helps save bandwidth, and I like to multitask while browsing.

2. I want Apple to do well, and more RAM in iPhones makes them more competitive with Android phones.

3. I want even better apps. More RAM enables more app capabilities. Note that the App Store approval process weeds out sluggish apps, so developers don't have the option of releasing an app that needs more RAM and waiting for the hardware to catch up. As a result iPhone users are less aware of the need for more RAM.

While you're using an application you would likely not experience crashes unless the underlying code was poorly written. But that aside, I believe that the reason why more people are not more vocal about this is that most users would not normally attribute memory to be an issue. Macrumors users consist of a small subset of total iDevice users; many people that do not frequent technology sites (or have other sources of knowledge) would not know what RAM is (e.g. often confusing storage and memory).

Safari reloading aside, that applications cannot multi-task properly is a manifestation of inadequate amounts of memory; to be fair, iOS isn't really designed that way either, as applications are generally suspended soon after you hit the home button, with some exceptions, notably music players. Read through (for instance) game reviews on the app store and you may notice users complaining of crashes or losing progress. This is especially prominent on the iPad line, where games generally take up more memory compared to on the iPhone. When players switch out (e.g. using the home button), it therefore becomes common for them to experience the game reloading entirely once they switch back into it because iOS has killed it. My personal conjecture is that most users do not know what happened, and place fault at the developers for releasing a shoddy app.

Apple has done a fantastic job with providing users with extremely responsive user interfaces, especially because some are prioritized in terms of resource allocation. But if you attempt to be aware of what goes on with iOS (or just how computers work in general), it's difficult not to spot "problem" areas.

Just like you were all wrong about:
3.5" being big enough
4" being big enough
Simultaneous applications running being a better feature
Widgets being pointless
3rd party keyboards being useful
Swipe being a good feature
Voice to text being useful
Google Maps being better
Using a phone for navigation
A drag down notification bar

You left out NFC...security risk, who needs it?

Game over. See you with the 6s. Have fun with Safari reloads and apps being killed on background.
1GB is NOT enough, and iPhone 5s / iPad Air clearly proved it.

and I don't think you were really planning to buy anyway...

You have yet to say something intelligent. " It doesn't have 2 gigs of ram cause it doesn't need 2 gigs of ram". Because you know since you already own the device. Is it tard day today? U guys are everywhere! Or maybe its just another day on macrumors :0

Quite the contrary. It is you that believes it needs more RAM for completely arbitrary reasons: you think it should have "more" of something because of how much it costs. It's like me saying my car is expensive so it should come with 6 wheels, not 4 and a spare.

Opposite to that, I know it doesn't need more, because if it did, it would be there. Shockingly...Apple is not stupid. Nor are they in the business of shipping sub par hardware.

It is clearly a screen shot of iphone 5 or 5s. So fake.

And from Korea? Sams*** already had some bad records to make up those "benchmark" things.

Just wait and see, and don't be fooled.

You know it doesn't need more? How? Its never had more, so how would you know? You remind of the the folks who said anything bigger than 4" is nonsense because Apple didn't give to you. Now here we are.

It's almost 2015 and they're releasing a flagship product with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage for $299? Disappointing...

Needs more ram. I don't like the page reloads in safari and other apps needing a refresh. I do appreciate thag ios is optimized so its not so laggy.

I hope the phones have 2gb!

omg i was so hoping i cud open lyk all 36 of my bookmarks into tabs now i can't beccuz no ram. appel suks and i will cansel my iPhone 6+ now strait away becus no ram means phone is useless!!!!!!!!:mad::mad::mad:

Just strange paying so much for something that has mid tier specs

Mid tier specs, do you mean by the most powerful SoC in a smartphone come September 19th, that uses a 2nd generation 64 bit CPU, where one Apple A8 core almost has the performance of a whole Snapdragon 600 SoC(quad core)? while the competition is still stuck on old ass Krait technology , 32 bit technology?

or the phone that has 20 LTE bands, which is so much more then the competition, or the phone with dual domain pixel technology and UV light placement of LCD display on the phone, or the ridiculously fast new ISP in the A8, or the new H.265 encoder and decoder in the 6?

the competition is simply playing catch up again with specs now. :apple:

Snapdragon's with quad cores and ridiculously high clock rates doesnt equal super duper performance sorry to burst your bubble, AMD went that route while Intel focused on single core performance over the years and look at where we are now, Intel dominating AMD.

Don't forget the "spec geniuses" pretending that resolution is the only worthwhile spec of a display. I'm sure they think a $3000 1080p 50" TV is the same as any $8000 1080p 50" TV. After all, they have the same resolution! *facepalm*.
