I call bullocks. I've consistently used the same amount of data (3-4 GB a month) on my 6+ as I have with my iPhone 5 (4, 3G, and 2G as well). I can't be in the minority on this one either.

Why can't you be in the minority?

FWIW, I definitely use more data on my 6+ than I did on my previous iPhone 5.

Used 60GB of data during my last billing period. Streaming video is certainly more enjoyable with a larger screen (versus a 5/5s).

I find this interesting. Do you have Wi-fi at home? Do you spend a lot of time on public transit/waiting in airports? Do you work on the road?

I spent a month 2 summers ago watching ALOT of Netflix on my iPhone over LTE, and had trouble exceeding 10gb...

you must be watching video NON-STOP lol!

here in Germany people are jealous at me for having 1,3GB a month before I get throttled to 64kbs. most people still only have around 500 MB and some start to be throttled to 32kbs now cuz apparently 64kbs still worked too well for the providers liking

Canada here... Just got my first 2GB plan. I've only ever had a 1GB plan until now, 2GB feels luxurious!

How much is your monthly fee?

Only use 3 GB/9.99 euros per month here. Although we still have data caps on mobile unlike our broadband connections which are unlimited, so we need to get rid of that.

60GB... how?

Mobile streams usually use less bandwidth than regular ones. I suppose video uses more data than I thought lol

Watching big chunks of HD video can devour data and most services like Netflix will (as long as you have a fast stable LTE connection) push 1080p to a 6 Plus compared to 720p on a 6. Video streaming in general is one of the biggest bandwidth hogs because it's eating up data constantly, Netflix accounts for a massive chuck of Internet traffic because of this.

This means nothing to me until I know how much data the average iPhone 6 plus user is using. Saying twice as much as iPhone 6 users just has no meaning. Some one break out the numbers.

It's no wonder why the usage of the human brain has degraded since 1990 and exponentially degrading quicker as technology for media consumption advances creating brainless media activity that is readily available anywhere, anytime.

In another 30 years, we'll have the equivalent of human zombies for intelligence.

34€ + 10€ for unlimited Spotify streaming

One factor I'd imagine is that most Phablet users are less likely to have an iPad or Android tablet for using at home... they've got a 5+ inch screen already that runs the same software. It's entirely possible that many 6 Plus users use their phones at home, instead of switching to the wifi-only iPad.

I have Wi-Fi where I am most of the time, but choose not to use it as my mobile data connection is almost always faster and more reliable.

I stream around 50-75 minutes of SD video per day via SlingPlayer at around 2Mbps (250KB/s). Doing that math, that's around a gig per day. I'm also streaming Spotify for most of the day. And also add general stuff, like loading web pages, emails, speed tests, etc. I sometimes use a broadcaster-provided streaming app, such as FOX Sports GO or NBC Sports Live Extra instead of SlingPlayer due to better video quality.

It may be that heavy data users are more likely to want a larger iPhone. In other words, they're not using more data because they have a larger phone, they're buying a larger phone because they use more data (watching videos, etc.).

That may be true, however, personally I watch more videos on my iPhone now more than ever, thanks to the big screen.

10x as much as the 3GS? Then the image definitely doesn't reflect the actual numbers!

Makes me thank my lucky stars that networks in the UK provide unlimited 4G plans. Limit my texts, my calls, I don't care. Don't cap my data. I rarely text or call, but I FaceTime, iMessage and use WhatsApp a ton.

There's no way my 6p could ever replace my ipad, its still way too small for t his. It's a great phone, but its exactly that, a phone.

No kidding as regards data usage. The 6 plus replaces the tablet that I never bought. 6 plus is my micro tablet that also happens to make phone calls. So, yes, I am using it for consumption while on the move. And I'm getting every penny of my money's worth having bought it.

Safari + 1gb of RAM + 1080p display (downscaled from a much higher resolution) = more tab reloading :p

Iphone 6 user here. I use between 8-15 gigs a month. Usage hasn't changed when I moved from a 5 to a 6.

The only person I know who is still currently using a 3GS is my grandmother, and Candy Crush doesn't use a whole lotta data.

I agree. I upgraded to the 6 from a 4S because I wanted the bigger screen for video, etc. My parents, who use less than 1G/month combined, were happy with the 4S so they stuck with it.

I think it could be also related to battery life: iPhone 6 plus has almost double battery life compared to the iPhone 6 and older iPhones.

Users therefore feel less constrained by battery life and they end up consuming more network intensive content (like videos). The cellular radio activity is still the part which consumes the most power in phones.

Since switching provider and now getting 4G almost everywhere I definitely use more mobile data. Gotta be careful with video though; eats it up.
