Why can't you be in the minority?

FWIW, I definitely use more data on my 6+ than I did on my previous iPhone 5.
Not me. I use either less or the same. I'm blue. My wife is orange. My guess is that a lot of it is on wifi since I'm on wifi while at home and at work. That's most of my day. The rest is usually when I drive and am streaming music.

It probably has to do with having a much higher resolution screen than the 6, so webpages load higher quality pictures/video and such. I would bet this is the number 1 reason.

Are people really making 3x images for 6+ phones?

The iPhone 6 Plus people (many of them) sold their iPads and older iPhones, for one device that does it all. So their overall data usage might be the same but now it's all on one device (iPhone 6 Plus) and not over multiple devices (iPhone + iPad). I think that is the real story here.

I'm still on an iPhone 4. I looked at the costs of upgrading to an iPhone 6 with my current carrier (Rogers in Canada) and it would cost me $700 just to do the upgrade, and that's with losing features (less data) and still with a 2-year contract. No thanks. I'll stick with my trusty 4 until the next generation comes out in September/October.

Thank you FCC and net neutrality...

Too soon?

???? How? Do you guys have to pay full price or something?

citrix is such a unique use case, that you can't really draw any broad conclusions from their numbers. Citrix is usually used to remote desktop to a PC. You can't really do that well on a small screen, so it is not surprising that larger screens are used more. For that usage case, I bet tablets rank the highest overall.

I definitely use more data on my iPhone 6 compared to my iPhone 4S. The bigger screen sure makes being online easier without having to squint my eyes. I just held an iPod touch 4g and wondered how I survived so long with that small of a screen.

Makes perfect sense actually. Unlimited plans went away as bigger screen devices were getting more popular. This equals more money for the carrier.

I call bullocks. I've consistently used the same amount of data (3-4 GB a month) on my 6+ as I have with my iPhone 5 (4, 3G, and 2G as well). I can't be in the minority on this one either.

Well, you must be.

As to the article, what a waste of web space. Off course a larger device that is more user friendly to surfing etc will get more use. My experience is this. On my 5S I can do all the same things, but its a pain. I can if I have to, but I often choose not to. On the Plus, its highly useable and very satisfactory, so I do

Is the next article showing that laptop surfing is used more than phablets? can't wait.

So the next generation will be a cheaper option? I don't get how those that go onto a contract, have an issue with the upgrade process/costs. Remember, you got the phone for nix, or cheap, so you are still paying it back to the carrier

Not Surprised

Yeah I mean, not surprising.

The iPhone 6 Plus was always going to be for those losers who have no life and are just glued to their phones all day. Better to have an immersive experience on a phone than to immerse yourself in real life, I suppose.

Yes this is a troll comment.

Not surprised. Think this correlates to a drop in PAD sales overall. I for one have used my iPad Air wayyyyyy less since I got my iPhone 6+....

This data is only backing that up..

One factor I'd imagine is that most Phablet users are less likely to have an iPad or Android tablet for using at home... they've got a 5+ inch screen already that runs the same software. It's entirely possible that many 6 Plus users use their phones at home, instead of switching to the wifi-only iPad.

Good point. I use my iPhone 6 extensively while on public transit, but never at home, where I either use my iPad or rMBP. I went with the 6 because often times I need to operate it with one hand while on transit. If I had the 6+, it would be a pain for the way I use my phone (6 is already a bit too big), but I'd probably use it more at home rather than the iPad.

I used to use my 6 plus for controlling a remote desktop via teamviewer. That one could easily chew through a couple of gigs a day.

I'd argue that people who use their iPhone more heavily are more likely to choose the iPhone 6 Plus over the 6 in the first place. Hence more data usage associated with the Plus.

I have the 6 Plus. Yes it is too big for a phone. But it's just right for a media consumption, productivity, GPS navigation, and photography device. Once I realized that the "phone" part of my iPhone was about 5% of what I use it for, then the big-ass phone made a lot more sense.

Same here. Though I also have a Surface Pro 3 as my primary work machine, so the iPad is really getting lonely over there.

2X and 10X what?

At least here in Sweden the newer phone and newer subscription you get, the less amount of data you have.

So far I will not let go of my unlimited data for ~8 dollars, even if it keeps me at 3G instead of 4G. I still get 10-20Mbit in most places.

I've been using my 6 Plus far more out there than my 5 - and I've barely touched my iPads over the past few months.

How do we know it's not just because 6+ owners aren't connecting to wifi when they could be?

I can't tell you how many people I know who have no idea that you can utilize your home/office/public wifi for data use on your phone. They just use OTA data constantly.

Seemingly the same folks who are always clamoring to go buy the "BEST iPHONE!!"

"What makes it the 'best'"? I ask....

"It's the most expensive!!"

How's that for some correlation?
