Just means AT&T will throttle my iPhone 6+ faster than it will my iPhone 6

I'm in some weird group that uses LESS data than I did on my iPhone 5.

I use the 6+ all the time... and I don't THINK my habits re WiFi usage have changed. A mystery. Maybe a few apps got more efficient recently or something.

here in Germany people are jealous at me for having 1,3GB a month before I get throttled to 64kbs. most people still only have around 500 MB and some start to be throttled to 32kbs now cuz apparently 64kbs still worked too well for the providers liking

5GB and no speed reduction for my business plan.

Perhaps it's the people who love browsing and using lots of data that are getting larger phones?

This sounds like a more logical correlation than saying "people who switch to bigger phones begin using more data."

I love how they put a little FaceTime camera of the speaker of the 3GS in the graphic. It's so realistic

citrix is such a unique use case, that you can't really draw any broad conclusions from their numbers. Citrix is usually used to remote desktop to a PC. You can't really do that well on a small screen, so it is not surprising that larger screens are used more. For that usage case, I bet tablets rank the highest overall.

The core of this research is for MDM and MAM products like XenMobile. Also significant amount of daily traffic goes through Citrix L4-L7 devices. Constantly working on compression and optimizations for mobile.

Don't this is correct. I have 6 plus definitely use it more for streaming and watching videos but don't see a huge jump in data. I'm always well within my 20gb a month using 4G

Further evidence of Apple's disappointing iPad sales relative to iPhone 6 family representing a significant convergence of the product lines amongst certain consumers.

I call bullocks. I've consistently used the same amount of data (3-4 GB a month) on my 6+ as I have with my iPhone 5 (4, 3G, and 2G as well). I can't be in the minority on this one either.

Dunno, you might actually be. I have seen a slight uptick in my usage of my 6 over the 5S, and I attribute it to the fact that I use it to access the web a lot more, mainly because the screen is easier to see.

My usage has stayed the same.

Couldn't this be attributed more to the 6 plus mainly selling to "power users" and the 6/5s/5c selling to "regular" users. The people that went to the plus when it became available were already using that much data on a smaller device.

not that there aren't plenty of "power users" with a 6/5s/5c or "regular" users with a plus.

FWIW, I definitely use more data on my 6+ than I did on my previous iPhone 5.

I do as well. Thing is, my overall bandwidth usage probably has not changed - but I used to choose my iPad Mini for a lot of stuff rather than my iPhone 5 because of the screen size.

Now my iPad sits unused, most of the time. I don't even carry it with me. The iPad is better than the phone for a lot of things... but not by enough to overcome the inconvenience of carrying two devices.

The funny is that we started with very generous 5 GB at the Deutsche Telekom when the first iPhone came out here – but unlike almost any other technology which gets cheaper, we got less and less data for more money over the years when they discovered that people really USE the promised 5 GB (and that data is the only thing nowadays to still earn money with.) Bad customers! ;)

All mobile data. Unlimited.

32Kbps? Wow... Back to the dial-up days.

Yeah, it barely makes sense to own a smartphone if that's all you're getting.:(

As for iPhone 6 Plus owners using double the data over iPhone 6 owners, for many people the iPhone 6 Plus has become the iPhonePad. Videos look a lot better on that bigger screen so more data is needed for streaming.

There's no way my 6p could ever replace my ipad, its still way too small for t his. It's a great phone, but its exactly that, a phone.

No it's not. The phone is a minor part of it's intended purpose. It is a computer in your pocket.

Where on earth are you getting faster download speeds than AT&T on T-Mobile?

Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Simply because T-Mobile doesn't have as many users.

Soooo.... T-Mobile is TERRIBLE. Whatever you do, don't switch over ;)

Kinda makes sense. On my 6+ when I go to cellular data usage, for current period it says 16.4GB. Is that for the past 30 days? Or something else?

Before on my 5 it'd be maybe 5GB. Then again I switched to T-Mobile at the same time from AT&T when I got my 6+, and before I'd get throttled at 5GB on my "unlimited plan" and that's why jumped ship.

When you know you truly have unlimited you tend to use cellular data liberally :)

I think people are mistaking the iPhone data usage as actual monthly usage, especially that 60gb usage guy. The usage you find in cellular settings is amount of usage used since last reset, not your monthly usage. You have to text or log in to your carrier to see your monthly.

On my phone it says 38.2gb, but my current month is only 2.5gb, and monthly average is 9.7gb.

Probably won't happen

but if the carriers were smart, they'd increase the subsidy on the 6+ to get users to pay for more data.
