nobody deserves to wait long line...they should get it at their desire model without having luck to intervene this situation. Stupid apple...making people wait in line...

Thinking about waking up super early to get in line and snag a full-price AT&T iPhone 6... (unlocked).

Tuck

I am worried about in store pick up, I hope they have enough supply to meet those pre-orders.

I suspect this could be why there is so little stock for walk ins.

Oh well, I am going very early to make sure I don't get screwed on my pre-order. That happened to my friend a few years ago, he had a store pick up. Got there an hour before closing and they were out of stock.

I'm assuming the preorders will get to wait in a separate line than just the 'i hope i get one' line?

I'd like to know if Apple Stores or third party stores (like Verizon) will have demo units of the 6 Plus tomorrow (or in the near future). I'm thinking it's what I want, but I want to physically hold one before I order.

Tempting

Cue the $10K prices on eBay tomorrow

I have been tempted to try this every time I get the new one on release date. I fear that because I've never sold anything on ebay before that I won't get any bids because I have no history.

how many iPhones do stores usually get per launch? 1000 phones for walk ins? 500?

if its 100 phones then there are 3 Plus

if its 200 Phones then its 6 Plus

if its 300 phones then its 9 plus

if its 400 phones then its 12 plus

if its 500 phones then its 15 plus

Regardless if you are not at number 20 in the line, you are screwed

Underestimated demand ?

Not necessarily, yields on the high density large displays are suposidly poor. I'm sure Apple would like to supply everyone with one on the first day, but you don't plan manufacturing capacity for the initial surge. You plan it for the long term so that there isn't wasted capacity.

Any info on chances of a walk-up 128GB 6 order?

I have no interest in the 6+ myself... Looks way too big (reviews talking about it being a 2 handed device to use, etc.) for my purposes.

What I do want is a 128GB model though, so I can put my whole music collection on it and retire my iPod classic as my in-car music player.

I didn't pre-order initially, because I figured I might just wait for the initial frenzy to die down first. I have a 5s 16GB gold right now which is a perfectly good phone.

But it does look like I could make it to my local Apple store tomorrow morning around 9-9:30AM or so and wait in a line, if necessary, for a little while, if it would let me grab a 128GB iPhone 6.

Not even too picky about the color (imagine space gray will sell out first), because once a case is on it, the color really makes little difference.

Given this - would people say it's worth giving it a shot, or is it going to be pretty hopeless?

Seems their sources are only 3rd party retailers and carrier stores. I think this is to be expected.

There will be higher a supply at Apple Stores most likely.

Yeah, the article is not talking about Apple stores.

Does make me wonder though if the reported figure of 140,000 6 Pluses being manufactured per day is really all that accurate? If they've only been building them since the keynote (and you have to assume they've been building them longer than that) they should have over a million already. There were reports of manufacturing problems, but how many units could that be affecting? 50%? That would seem a very high number and that would still leave 500,000 units. Again assuming they've only been building them for a week.

I feel like either those numbers are off, demand for the Plus is much higher (4m iPhones preordered, perhaps a huge number of those are Pluses) or it's a logistics issue, getting those phones to stores around the world isn't an easy task, there are only so many phones you can fit on a plane.

People that wait long lines for a freaking phone do deserve to wait in a long line...

You will almost certainly not find an iPhone 6 Plus on Monday. From what we've seen and heard if you did not preorder one or are not standing in line now for one, I would assume there will be none available after tomorrow for at least a month.

After seeing the limited supply and high demand, I highly doubt I will be seeing one too.

I did that when I bought my iPhone 5 a couple of days after launch, and I went in really early in the morning. I was told that they have many deliveries. The best date I've been given for the 6 Plus 64Gb is 13th October. If I don't manage to get my hands on one, I'll likely order from EE.

In honor of International Talk Like A Pirate Day tomorrow (Sep 19th):

Don't be tryin' to pull no wool over our eyes. We saw them pictures of them airships full of iPhones ya scurvy-ridden dogs. Whadya be doin' with them all??

Shouldn't the headline read...

scalpers fool iPhone buyers into staying away so they can buy more

Pathetic...really? How are you expecting 4-5 million sales one 1st weekend?
Geez apple...with all that time...you're just scamming people to buy your iPhone when you are SHORT IN SUPPLY... when did you start producing these products?

Week 32 of this year seems to be the earliest.

Best Buy??

Anyone know how many other retailers will get? I recall seeing a website once that showed Best Buy stores inventories???

I have a 64gb 5s but i had the same problem. I ended up buying iTunes Match and streaming all of it, but I liked having it all locally.
