Given that last year's 9 million in the opening weekend set a record and Apple reportedly planned to have more than 10 million ready this weekend, I'd say its absolutely bat-sh** crazy demand....

Apple is also wanting 70-80 million more from suppliers by the end of the year.....

The largest quarter they've ever had (from ALL iPhone sales) was just over 50 million.....

If they sell 70-80 million 6/6+ along with what will likely be a nice little influx of 5Cs and 5Ss......they could break 100 million in ONE quarter....

Not even Samsung sells that many phones across the globe in one quarter (record is 86 million).

I don't think people realize how unbelievably insane that is.

True that and with the low yields of the screens, which isn't really their fault not sure why people are blaming them so much - in a few months supply will be up.

To be fair, mines coming tomorrow, but learn some patience guys! :D

I just want to go to the store to check the Plus and see if it is too big or I can handle it. The thing is, I don't want to be nowhere close to the frenzy it will be the first few days. I hope they will have few on display later on next week.

I want to see the Plus before I open my 6 tomorrow, just to make sure I made the right choice. Hopefully the Verizon reseller in my tiny town will have one on display, or even have a few in stock, just in case I change my mind. I still think the Plus is going to be laughably big.

Being that they iPhone 6 has a 4 to 1 production ratio over the Plus, it's no surprise.

I was right.
Apple knew during the keynote that there would be virtually no 6+ phones available on launch day.

Had they fessed up it would have hurt the stock a bit.

no biggie.
but i was right ;-)

best,
SvK

Hmm maybe I should sell my unlocked GSM 6+ 128gb space gray that I'm picking up tomorrow from UPS. :) I can wait til November if I make a nice little profit on it.

I already saw the Plus unlocked for sale on Craigslist (pickup Friday) for $100 below Apple's retail price so they can't be in that short supply. You just have to know where to look.

I really have to give up my job and go for a career in fraud. There are too many people who like to buy bridges at lovely discounts, and there are so many bridges to sell.

nobody deserves to wait long line...they should get it at their desire model without having luck to intervene this situation. Stupid apple...making people wait in line...

Demand exceeding supply. How many other electronics manufactures do you think would love to have this 'problem'.

Hint: All the ones who produce products with an on/off button.

Anyone know how many other retailers will get? I recall seeing a website once that showed Best Buy stores inventories???

I don't know if it is any indication, but my local BB had phones ONLY for those that had preordered for the 5. No extra stock, not even display models.

Shocking! All I can say is there's going to be a lot of angry customers. Mr. Cook, you promised delivery of the 6 and 6+ on the 19th? FAIL

Mr. Cook didn't promise delivery to the entire world population. They are still meeting their promise of a 9/19 delivery. You just may or may not be part of the group that will be taking delivery.

Nice, make the 16GB $300, but only stock the $400 64GB. Meanwhile the Android competitors are half the price or less. I'm used to paying a premium for Apple products - I've been doing it since the 90s. 125-150% is the norm. But 200% more? Apple's iOS market share is only going to keep going down...

Just talked to a UPS driver who delivered only 8 cases of 10 phones each to an AT&T Corporate Store. So, only 80 iphones 6/+ all colors and sizes. And he said that after talking to a couple of employees, that most, if not all of those were already sold. He also delivered to an authorized retail store like 2 cases. Glad I preordered.

"no 16GB iPhone 6 Plus devices to be found"

At least that's sort of good news :p 16GB iPhone 6 is lame, but not starting at 32 in the Plus borders on insanity.

I know 16 is enough for some people—but leave it to the bottom models!

iPhones 200% more? You have to REALLY cherry-pick specs and ignore a lot to get that conclusion! You're not paying for a bullet list of 3 specs, but for ALL the specs, and especially real-world performance, construction quality, image quality/color, size/weight, real-world battery life, TouchID, bundled software, etc. The same things that make one Android phone cost more than another of the same capacity and screen size. Except the iPhone has numerous features that NO Android phone can truly match. Checklists don't tell the story: one fingerprint reader is not like another, a creaky plastic shell is not like metal, Pentile displays are not like true RGB, etc. etc.

I went to the ATT store today and ordered 2 x 128GB iPhone 6 (standard size) and they are saying 7-14 days. Not bad at all. I am ready!

Now that you are saying my 2 AT&T Iphone 6 phones with estimated shipping of Oct-10 are shipping NOW from Texas.

Pleasantly surprise :D

Regardless if you are not at number 20 in the line, you are screwed

You seem to think that the demand for the 6 Plus is huge. You should read the reviews... practically every reviewer gave the 6 Plus a lower rating than the 6. Not because it is slower, has a worse display, a sucky camera, a terrible battery, etc. No. On the contrary. The only reason was: "It's too big." That was enough to rate the faster phone with the better display, camera and battery half a star lower. And a LOT of people think like that.

For the record, I preordered a 6 Plus myself. But I am quite sure I belong to the minority.
