iPhone 6 Plus Reportedly in Very Short Supply for In-Store Launch

I already saw the Plus unlocked for sale on Craigslist (pickup Friday) for $100 below Apple's retail price so they can't be in that short supply. You just have to know where to look.

I didn't pre-order initially, because I figured I might just wait for the initial frenzy to die down first. I have a 5s 16GB gold right now which is a perfectly good phone.

But it does look like I could make it to my local Apple store tomorrow morning around 9-9:30AM or so and wait in a line, if necessary, for a little while, if it would let me grab a 128GB iPhone 6.

Not even too picky about the color (imagine space gray will sell out first), because once a case is on it, the color really makes little difference.

Given this - would people say it's worth giving it a shot, or is it going to be pretty hopeless?

Well, you have plenty of time to consider the purchase, since you probably won't find one to buy until mid October.

Just got my Shipment Notification email from Apple this morning. Last night I was a little worried it wasn't gonna be shipped on time but it is :D
 
Shocking! All I can say is there's going to be a lot of angry customers. Mr. Cook, you promised delivery of the 6 and 6+ on the 19th? FAIL
 
Just called the carrier store I am going to in the morning and found out that they have both of the phones in. But they are unsure of the colors.
 
Given that last year's 9 million in the opening weekend set a record and Apple reportedly planned to have more than 10 million ready this weekend, I'd say its absolutely bat-sh** crazy demand....

Apple is also wanting 70-80 million more from suppliers by the end of the year.....

The largest quarter they've ever had (from ALL iPhone sales) was just over 50 million.....

If they sell 70-80 million 6/6+ along with what will likely be a nice little influx of 5Cs and 5Ss......they could break 100 million in ONE quarter....

Not even Samsung sells that many phones across the globe in one quarter (record is 86 million).

I don't think people realize how unbelievably insane that is.

Not planning to buy one now. My contract expires in one year so the 6S + might be the one. I just hope they have few on display so folks can check it out soon.
 
Did they check with Apple retail stores? NO, so what a bogus story, this is old news that non-Apple stores were going to be in short supply.

"We just spoke with multiple sources at carrier stores and authorized Apple retailer partner locations..."

My 6+ will be waiting at my doorstep tomorrow.....he didn't say EVERYONE who wanted one would get it on the 19th....

People need to grow up.

I was 7th in line last year and wanted a 32GB white/gold 5S. Guess what - no luck....AT AN APPLE STORE.

I bought a space gray and have loved it. This year I'll be trying out the gold. If you don't want to wait, get a different color. If you want it that bad, learn some patience.

There's a new VZW location that opened recently where I live and I'm thinking of trying my luck (along with my wife) getting our 6's tomorrow morning.

Anyone else going to go brick & mortar in the morning? Getting a new phone is exciting to me but not so much that I would camp out or anything. I'll just wait if it is a complete zoo.

I'm kind of feeling like it's a pipe dream to think about getting one on launch day, in person. I know one thing is for sure, I am NOT going to an Apple store on launch day.
 
Maybe I should throw my 6 Plus on eBay for fun. No real intention of selling though. I hate eBay. And I want to keep my plus.
