Don't be fooled. All the models that are in demand have not improved in shipping times. For those that are hoping to score an iPhone for the holidays, don't wait too long and order it

Why is there a hatred against 16GB version?

I'm planning to get a 16GB one;

- I'm streaming music over Spotify.
- Not playing any games, mostly work related / communication apps.
- I watch stuff, streaming..
- I take a moderate amount of photos and videos, but iCloud Photo Library is here for that, right?

My 16GB 5S has 6.5GB of free space right now.. Never needed much. Why would I get a 64GB model?

Iphone is becoming an enigma. And so is that movie they are making about the guy we used to know.

An enigma because they're selling 100M of them in 4 months? What?

That's like saying nobody buys Apple products anymore cause they're always sold out! (Yogi Berra adaptation).

Would really love a 4.7" iPhone 6S with a 1080p display. For me that's the sweetspot.

I'm a big guy and when I tried to use my friends 6 Plus I felt like I was holding an iPad Mini, there is a point where bigger is not always best, atleast that's my personal preference. Apart from that I did really like it, I just wish the camera wouldn't stick out slightly and it had a better battery life and being ever thinner is not important to me.

16GB is a complete utter joke! I'm surprised it's taken them that long to replenish the 16GB stock because hardly anyone should be buying it.
Apps are getting bigger, people storing more photos, songs and higher quality videos, it's no surprise Apple announce the configurations of 16, 64 and 128GBs up from 16, 32, 64GBs.
You will really regret if you buy a 16GB model in the long run, but if you're reading this post, you probably already know that!

It's immoral to keep the base model at 16GB !6 years! in a row.

They keep the 16GB version because all their competitors have a basic 16GB version with a memory card slot to increase the storage space, to keep their headline price as low as possible. By keeping the 16GB version Apple can do the same. So they can advertise the iPhone as "from xxxx price". It's an old marketing trick but one that most companies still use. Once the potential customer is in the store you can up sell to a 32/64/128GB version.

Call it con, call it apple being smart and making lots more money...

True... a con would be something misleading. Apple put their prices/products out there. I often find their base model is pretty inadequate for my needs and I need to buy 1 or 2 models up to be happy.

They know their marketing and are pretty open/honest about it.

The 16GB 6+ is available in iSpot stores in Poland, this is the unlocked version for ~$1000 (tax incl.) though.

What I'm interested in is the 64GB 6+, mostly for use in Europe but also US. It's not clear to me if the T-Mobile/contract-free version will work for me. I'd rather save $200, but may just end up paying the premium and buying the unlocked iPhone in Europe. Is the T-Mobile phone I buy through Apple unlocked or just contract-free?

According to a reply by a T-Mobile rep in this discussion the T-Mobile, contract-free option bought through Apple should also be unlocked, but a later poster mentions the fact that the 5S eventually had two models sold: T-Mobile/contract-free and unlocked, confusing:

Edit: In the Apple Store I see that the T-Mobile phone is described as "Unlocked and contract-free", in that case my only question is whether the GSM bands covered with the US iPhone 6 will give me a poorer experience using the phone on European bands.

Who wants the 16 GB version though? Most people want the 64 GB or 128 GB versions... IMO the 16 GB version is a waste of money given the 64 GB version is just $100 more.

The only reason the 16GB version exists is to keep corporations happy. In general, companies do not allow employees to install any apps outside of the company app store. If you are really lucky, you might be allowed to load your music onto it. For this use case, 16GB is perfectly fine.

When you buy 30 to 40 thousand phones, and extra $100 per phone adds up real fast.

an improvement is an improvement :D

2-3 weeks .... groovy... :apple: (but i'm still not getting one)

I have 3 more payments on my AT&T Next phone so hopefully sometime before then supplies will be better, like to be able to walk into an AT&T Store and walk out with a phone

...because we are a generation of over-consumption!?

I ordered my 6 Plus 128 GB the week after they went on sale, from AT&T. Charged my CC and everything. Said "Delivery sometime in November.

Day before Halloween, got iMessage from AT&T: "Dear sir,we tried to charge your card but there was a problem. Please call us within one week or your order will be canceled."

Called them immediately. Problem was that (1) they didn't actually charge my card at the time of order but only "reserved funds" which of course expires after a week, (2) they only charge for the device at shipping, and (3) my CC had expired in the six weeks since the order.

No problem, right? "Here's the new expiration date!"

"I'm sorry sir, but the order was canceled when the card didn't go through. You must reorder..."

AND GO TO THE BACK OF THE LINE!

So the message that "your order is on hold" wasn't true at all...at least not for the iPhone 6 Plus. After all, why wait for you to call them back when there's a waiting list!

So I reordered. I will get it "sometime before the end of the year."

Jerks.

I don't know what "general companies" you speak of, but I don't know any of them. I work at a major US corp. (European branch) with installed certificates etc on my 5S - but am fully able to install other stuff

Indeed...

How frustrating... Mobile providers really do have you over a barrel.
It's a bit better managed in the UK these days, with regulator rules on their customer service in relation to things like migration between providers..

This has to be the most successful iphone launch(or product) ever. 2 months later you still have to wait a week?

The only product I recall that was hard to find 6 months later was a Nintendo Wii but that was probably because they didn't expect to sell so much in the first place.

16gb is a disgusting joke, I feel sorry for anyone who buys one.

I am on you with this, but what you don't realise (and what I learned) there are many people (usually older) who are not tech savvy. They use these phones just to watch youtube, send messages, browse the net, and read email which probably takes less than 2GB in software.

My 16gb iPhone 5S has 5.4 gb available. I delete photos from time to time to keep the memory usage down and don't play movies on my phone. It's more of a work device for me and don't use it much for entertainment.

every carrier does this. no one is allowed to charge the CC until it's ready to ship

I don't know why Apple would even THINK about letting so much as 1 more iPhone 6 or 6+ leave their production line with less than 64 GB on it. Everywhere I go, every store has a huge overabundance of 6 and 6+ models, but they're all 16 GB! Nobody wants them! It's like buying a phone that can't really do anything but make calls and surf the web at this point. You absolutely have to have at least 32 GB. If they had that, they might not have an overabundance of 16 GB phones everywhere that nobody wants. Quit making them, Apple! I don't think you can even sell all the ones you've made. Ramp up production of 64 and 128 GB or up the storage to 32GB so you can sell more.

Do people not know they can get iPhones directly from Apple? Why are so many people waiting for their carriers to fulfill their iPhone orders?
