Go and have a look on I fixit. See how other phones are made and with an eye for construction, begin to appreciate why other phones use bonded screens, pyramid design, curved back etc. Its all for strength.
Apple got away with a sandwich design on the small i4/5 but for the size of the 6 and + its a comically bad design. No stiffness in the case, no stiffness from the screen and no stiffness from the flat back. But for me, putting voids (the sim/vol) holes right in the location where the shell needs it most is just an engineering oddity.

Its an awful piece of design and engineering.

I guess you are a product engineer? Have you told Ive you can build a better phone than him?

OH wait this is your first post at macrumors and you joined today?

LOLLLLLL

Im a mechanic at a dealership and i wear dickie type pants for work and my Iphone 6 plus is bent too from having it in my FRONT pocket and hopping into a customers car for a test drive. I had a Iphone 5 before this and having the phone in my pocket was never a problem.... This is naked without a case. I usually do use a case on my phone just didnt have any in stock anywhere I went! all were sold out!

I went back to ATT and they told me it would cost me $200 for a warranty claim.

The frame thickness is the same for 5s and 6 but the internal space where the components are housed is smaller. I think people are assuming the aluminum itself is thinner when it's the same

Could you provide a link to that? Because Apple is touting the iphone 6 as:

"iPhone at it's Largest.
And thinnest."

iPhone 5S is 7.6mm and smaller in overall size making the build ratio considerably thicker than the 6.9mm iphone 6 and much thicker than the 7.1mm 6+. iPhone 5S is also a more rigid box walled perimeter where as iPhone 6 is a more easy to bend round perimeter construction....think of when electricians use pipe benders to put a curve in conduit, it bends much easier and without pronounced creasing like a boxed conduit would.

Also, in the case of PD13, his 4.7" iPhone 6 was bent on the button side only, the more structurally sound non-button side bent hardly if at all. So what seems to be surfacing is that the structure near the buttons are the weak point which makes sense, there is a lot less metal there in order to accommodate the buttons themselves.

Fake.

I'm thinking that during a sudden zombie attack or hail storm, mine will go in my bra. :D I hope that in a sturdy case, it wouldn't bend being in a bra for a short amount of time!!

THIS IS your first post at macrumors do you have a picture of the bent phone?

Put the gun down! Lol.

I'm just giving some engineering perspective.

It's thinnest gap between the glass and the back but the frame thickness is the same

This is why in discussions about phone size, I use the term "easy" pocketability. I already felt that my 5s approaches the limits of "easy." But, I can still slip the phone in and out of my pockets without much resistance (albeit more resistance than with the 3.5" models), and I don't notice it most of the time. Even when squatting, I don't feel the phone getting into a pinch. I've yet to try out an iPhone 6, so I'll reserve judgement on that model until I try for myself.

But, with the 6 Plus, I don't see how it would easily fit into most jean pockets. Yes, you can physically squeeze the 6 Plus into most pant pockets, but you'll definitely notice that it's there and when it's a tight fit, things like bending can happen.

The way I look at it, the 6 Plus is a very large phone, so don't treat it like a smaller one.

If is dose come back here and post some pictures I would love to see the shape it bends too.

Provide official information to that end. Also, the build ratio, how thick over what total area is more the key here, especially in the case of the 6 Plus.

I just took my 6 Plus out of the case, laid it face-down on my glass-top desk at work, and there is slight movement if I press down the two corners opposite the camera... I am also able to slide a piece of paper under those two corners.

So I guess it's bent.

I can't see or detect that in any way with my eyes, and I can't feel it in any way when holding it.

The case is one of those ugly wooden Pt cases. Although ugly, it was all that was available (I ordered a Apple leather case... still waiting.

I am a little surprised that it got movement in that case, as it is quite rigid.

I still like the phone, and although it's bugging me a little, being bent .1mm really isn't a big deal... and it very well could have been bent already in the box.

The protruding camera lens is stupid. Now we know that the phone bending could be an issue... why not just make the case a little thicker, throw in a slightly larger battery, and not have that protruding lens?

I kept my iP5 and iP5s in a case about 30% of the time... usually when I traveled. But with that damn camera lens, and now this, a case is pretty much a necessity on the iP6+

I have them pants and the front pockets are big so I would think there was plenty of room for the plus there.

#fandroid alert!!

This thread is a cluster of confusion and trolls.

People on both sides mistreating information, people making things worse by trying to defend something that doesn't exist, misappropriated good intentions that lost the plot, and over the top hyperbole about things that are only meant to cause drama.

You can't really trust any posts from now on because this topic is now a hot spot for Apple hatred.

People in the 4.7 camp trying to attack the 5.5 people to feel better about their purchases teamed up with Android trolls.

Why would I make an account and make up a story?

Sure

Ouch. Sorry to see that. Also sorry to see the usual suspects attacking anyone who mentions a less than perfect experience with an apple product, but around here that's par for the course...
