This thread only got this big because its a setup for the most binary concern.

Its something everyone learned in grade school:

If something is longer, it bends easier.

Everyone ITT thinks they thought of something Apple overlooked.

Wow you guys are really clever. Time to fire up those "concerned" engines.

I wonder what these people are doing/did that really caused it to bend:

1. Terrible fitting pants -- I have very slim fitting jeans and there is still plenty of give in the pocket area when sitting down.

2. Bumping into things at the pocket level -- tables, chairs, etc., causing the bend/damage

There's no doubt it could eventually bend. If you're pants become so tight when sitting down that the fabric exerts enough force to bend an iPhone, you aren't holding it wrong, you are living wrong.

Lol and that is ultimately much worse for your testicles and sperm count :) they need so space too cool and hang.

I mentioned this before a lot of times... While it may be uncomfortable to have such a big phone (6+) in your pockets, it should not break/bend!

Meaning that most people will take it out of their pockets anyway before it should get to a bending/breaking point (under normal conditions). Having a pressure feeling on your thighs is something very uncomfortable and I also sometimes take out my wallet out of my back-pocket, because it becomes uncomfortable!

Bent-gate! I say bring it back to the Apple store and see what they can do.
Bend it back and sell it as refurbished.

Im glad the media picked this up. Hopefully this will bring awareness to more users and we can find out of this is an actual issue or just a minor issue with a few users...

It's less than a minor issue. It's people not being responsible.

Man, I wouldn't go anywhere NEAR an Apple store right now...

I'm not sure about this. My 6 Plus arrives tomorrow and I'm a little concerned. I don't wear tight pants, but I ride a Harley to work and larger phones, such as the OnePlus One and Lumia 1520 feel pretty snug when my feet are on the pegs. But those phones aren't aluminum, so bending isn't possible.

I kind of wonder if Apple made the Aluminum thinner in order to reduce weight. I never had any issues with my HTC M8, but it's not quite as large as the 6 Plus, either.

I sincerely hope this is isolated and not easily replicated, because I really don't want to have to return my 6 Plus.

Hopefully the people with bent phones get a replacement. If I bent my $800 phone from putting it my pocket (No folks, putting it in your damn pocket isn't abuse. Anyone saying so must either carry around a man-purse or is a woman who carries a purse) I would cause a ****storm at the Apple store until it got replaced. If they think the Apple store is a mess after a new iPhone launch now, wait til I would get there.

With that said, this makes me a little hesitant on the 6 Plus.

Or that this is pure hyperbole and a non issue

Oh no!!!!! I wear tight jeans and now my phone looks like this..

Would you expect the replacement phone to be somehow less likely to get bent?

Ah Oh! Then, we're in big trouble in the USA with "Get-Bent-Gate". The last time I looked around, there is an epidemic of "tight pants" syndrome....the majority of which is not a fashion statement.

So basically, 10 million phones get sold, two or three get bent and immediately everyone is like omg apple so bad design `iPhone 6 plus suckssss.

I agree, a phone should be able to be worn in a front pocket, even if it's a bit tight.
The thing is, we don't know what these people actually did with their phones. I'm not saying they are liars, but, who knows, they might've bumped against a table without knowing. Someone might've sat on their lap for only a second without them realising it was the pocket with their phone in it. The phones might even be anomalies and be more prone to bending for all we know.
The iphone 5 supposedly was "very prone to bending" too and though I wear considerably tight pants, I've never bent it, always having it in my pocket, even with people sitting on my lap with it in my pocket, accidentally of course.

All I'm trying to say is, we can't judge the magnitude of this problem by the posts of these three people. We'll just have to wait and see if more posts emerge.

Though IMO I'd think that if this really was this big of an issue, more people would've complained, with 10 million iPhones sold and all.

Also to the OP, just return it to Apple and explain your story. Just don't be a dick to the genius. Chances are, you might just get a new one.

This whole phablet thing is playing out in real time like some comedy show. Phablets are stupid. Not even Apple can make a phablet that is acceptable to use everyday without a man purse. Steve was right...admit it...

Not really.

Its only playing like that because of jealousy.

The haters need something to latch on to and this is perfect.

Lets make the masses visualize that the Plus is as flimsy as a POP TART!

If Steve were still running the show I don't think the 6 Plus would exist.
If you want to talk to someone on a giant screen, use your iPad.

As for cell phones, I want something small and durable that fits in my jeans pocket and I don't have to worry about it if I suddenly need to start running (i.e. zombie attack, sudden hail storm, free pizza in the conference room, etc.)
