Its hitting mainstream news outlets at this point
http://www.nbcnews.com/tech/mobile/...phone-6-prone-bending-some-users-find-n210051

Looks like its affecting more then just MacRumor members.

The article states this:

I'd have to agree with that assessment right now. The story is gaining legs but that doesn't equate to it being a widespread issue.

where in the story does it suggest beyond macrumors as even the one image is from macrumors and the video is the one attempting to bend the phone. the twitter and facebook videos and newsfeed, i have gone through hundreds of them all are recycling the 4-5 images macrumors, 1 from france and 1 from the youtube video.

None of this would be an issue if they had used steel instead of switching to cheap, garbage aluminum to impress the uneducated. That was the main reason I skipped the entire 5th generation. Well, that, and the lack of anything over 64gb of storage. I still plan on getting a 6 plus (128gb ftw) but I also always use an otterbox.

Fragility in a daily-use item is a problem. It obviously isn't a show-stopper, and like I said I'll be picking one up later today or tomorrow, but it does have me concerned.

I've always thought the "thin phone" craze was foolish as the 4s was perfectly thin enough, and I also thought switching to aluminum was a poor decision. Looks like I was correct, if a bit grumpy and crotchety.

Hopefully, future versions will either switch back to steel, use an actual aluminum alloy instead of going the cheap route, or find another material which is altogether more durable, such as carbon fiber with a rigid frame or some kind of polymer. If Glock can make a polymer-framed pistol I can sit on 12 hours a day, 6 days a week for $450 then apple should be able to make an iphone capable of resting in my front pocket for $900.

Apple has a history of making very good devices and I have been a loyal customer of theirs for years, but if fragility becomes the norm they will lose me as a customer... unless otterbox can continue to pick up their slack.

Hello "this is my first post so let me crap on apple" Newbie poster. I swear Samsung must have thrown its entire budget on forum posters this year.

note: plus and 6 are also 128 gb

Seems like Apple is spending a lot of money keeping you active 24/7 in this thread.

Give it a rest. You act like this is a personal problem of yours. Relax. If it is a minor case of a few bad phones then it will die, Apple will take care of those people and be done with it. If it is a huge problem then I'm sure Apple will address it and make changes.

Wow, I guess I really hit a nerve.

You might want to actually read my post. You also might want to address any of my arguments you may have a problem with, instead of simply avoiding the issues. I mean, if you actually read my post you'd see that the only other company I mentioned was Glock... a company which does not make a phone, tablet, or other electronic device.

If I was going to advocate any other electronics company it sure wouldn't be Samsung. Falcon Northwest maybe. Or Nvidia. Perhaps even Asus or Intel... but not Samsung.

I think you're a little too prickly about the fanboy wars. Some of us are more interested in honest discourse.

Creating hyperbole of a potential statisticically insignificant issue is a problem I dont like. I am just making fun of those who think this is a major issue

antenna gate was simply user errors - don't death grip your phone. This "bend gate' stupidity is just that, people who can't understand how to carry their device around.

Wow, just wow. I owned one of the antenna gate phones. I was NOT people who didn't know how to use the phone. Never had the problem of losing signal before or after that phone.

These "possible" problems with the Iphone 6 will either be proven to be widespread or not. We do not know at this time. Every, and I mean every manufacturer screws up at some time.

The level of unthinking comments and accusatory tone in this thread is scary.

its waving so much it looks like a flag in a wind
and that backflip lol

Yes, that's pretty impressive... It's probably more the glass keeping the phone together than the aluminium... And the glass does not break from the actual impact but from all the shockwaves and distortions through the weak aluminium structure. In some cases, the glass will probably break even from a fall on the back due to that...

That's actually a very good point, people are freaking out. I suppose hysteria is the heart of marketing, but still.

Apple is a good company. If they screwed up, they will fix it. If they don't fix it, someone else will make a better product. Such is the way of capitalism. The "worst case scenario" really isn't such a big deal.

Do you people really think you can put these in your pants pocket and not bend
it? C'mon a little common sense, Please!

I'm sure Apple will get the blame and be asked to replace it......amazing.....*face palm*

Ahhhh the predictable post from the apologist crowd. I've owned many phones. All of them placed in my front pocket. None have bent. None. Once again, ZERO. Nada. Zip. But yeah, go ahead and blame the pocket and not the stupidly designed phone.

neither have i and i own a plus

No more "gates". I can't take them anymore. There is no scandal here.

Seriously, the whole "gate" thing stopped being funny or clever a looong time ago.

"Oh no! My display flickered for a split second... FLICKERGATE!!"

"My home button made a slight clicking sound... CLICKGATE!!"

Repair Kit now available in German Apple Store

Now, watch some little teenage girl attempt to bend her iPhone because all her little friends are doing the same thing. Then want daddy to pay $800 for another one. I cannot believe this #bendgate crap is getting this much attention.

iPhone 4 - Antennagate
iPhone 5 - ScuffGate
iPhone 6 - Bendgate

Crazy...

Apple can't fix idiots. Take the phone out of your pocket when you sit or bend over Geesh! I do, and always have no matter what phone I've had since 96. This is not new news, it's common sense, unreal.

Hell , I never even did this with my iPhone 4. Never in my back pocket, and always removed it while sitting for easy access if anything. I've had my 6 plus for 2 days now, and no bending. Even had it under my pillow while sleeping to talk radio noise. Posting youtubes of people purposely bending/breaking a device is a disservice to those with true bend issues and wish to exchange at Apple. Either way, if there is a problem, you can bet they will fix it:cool:
