Do you people really think you can put these in your pants pocket and not bend
it? C'mon a little common sense, Please!

I'm sure Apple will get the blame and be asked to replace it......amazing.....*face palm*

 Are you serious... So Apple makes a phone that cannot be pocketed and it is the customers fault even though there was no specific direction that these COULDN'T be pocketed?

This is why I don't go full retard and buy an iPhone when it's just been launched, but while I wait to see enough reviews, news of a new iPhone emerge, so I never really bought any iPhone and never will.

has anyone posted this yet? seems more reassuring.

iPhone 6 “toughest iPhone yet” as it passes all SquareTrade’s breakability tests

http://9to5mac.com/2014/09/24/iphon...t-passes-all-squaretrades-breakability-tests/

ahahaha reassuring? are you kidding? Did you even look at their "endurance" test? They slide the damn phones on a flat surface! Oh yeah phones that can slide on a plastic surface are definately unbreakable lol.
And dont get me started on that drop test, the plus's damn screen came off and they had the balls to say that this is the toughest phone yet. Please.

I watched it and the slide test was pathetic indeed.

The screen on the iPhone 6 plus didn't "come off" however. They had to dig their finger in the seam and pry it off.

If you choose to do that after you drop your phone 6 times then . . . . well . . . .

Also, I've NEVER seen an iPhone get submerged in even the slightest puddle and survive. The did stick the thing in water, something no mere phone owner should ever do.

And the 6+ "still performed well enough to win the rating for “most durable phone with a screen larger than five inches.”

Yet this will get buried in the hysteria.

Further, what has gone largely unsaid in this madness is that premium products are not necessarily 'durable.' Whether this is a camera, a piece of jewelry, a high end watch or a designer suit or a luxury car with 20" wheels and so on, premium products often require a certain level of care to keep them looking nice. Apple has chosen as is their right to place a higher priority on materials and aesthetics than on absolute durability. (The fact that even doing so the insurance company that will ultimately pay to replace many of these devices has found it to be the most durable phone makes Apple's creation rather amazing). If that choice doesn't work for you there are plenty of devices out there that use different materials that may be better suited to your needs (although apparently they may not actually be more durable) or there are plenty of cases to protect your devices.

Do you have any idea what the 'sliding' test was meant to determine? It certainly wasn't an 'endurance' test - it was to illustrate how likely a given phone is to slide off a surface which would then subject it to a drop.

Who do you think we should trust? The insurance company who will ultimately pay for the replacement of thousands of these devices or some blowhard with a keyboard?

Damage control alert. Looks like the mods are closing every thread about iPhones bending.

Bent iPhone threads have been flooding the iPhone forum. The Macrumors mods are ALWAYS vigilant about consolidating threads, especially when the subject in hand has been on their front page.

I do hope Apple starts giving out free cases like they did last time to reduce the effect of a 6+ becoming bent/warped.

;)

The 6 Plus didn’t do quite so well in the drop test, the front and rear panels separating and audio ceasing to function, but still performed well enough to win the rating for “most durable phone with a screen larger than five inches.”

Lol

The tests didn’t include bendability, though it appears from a video test that the pressure required to bend one is pretty extreme.
Lol

I just spent 20 minutes on the phone with an Apple rep shooting the **** after we cleared up a billing issue. She said that they're not just handing out cases to everyone. Many have indeed gotten them but overall, it is not the way they're handling everything. I don't know if that'll hold true but frankly, Apple doesn't need to give you a case. Buy your own because it makes sense that something that thin made out of that kind of metal would likely bend under pressure.

Now try the drop test and scratch test. Polycarbonate Plastic will not bend, it will also be heavier. the S4 is basically having a phone in a case shell. it will have a hard time bending but i guess it fails at everything else based on SquareTrade.

"yes, the iphone broke internally and all of the panels fell off but really, it is a very sturdy phone"

lol

Like I said this will go mainstream... But just after 4 days into service must be a record, the antenna-gate issue went mainstream weeks after.

I'm out of this thread, because the apple fanboys are starting to get totally ridiculous, ignorant and blind with their arguments, while at the same time the reports of bending iphone users are increasing by the hour.

This is a serious issue and should not happen with a phone that costs up to $950 and comes from Apple. Most folks wear their phones in their pockets (especially men) and nobody wants to hear that this a pocket is a hazardous area for an iphone.

Customers do have a choice, don't forget about that guys and Apple should do a better job, because this is a lousy mistake by Apple and should already been brought up during the development and testing stage of the iphone6(+).

For other people who want to report their damaged phones, please post a picture with it and let us know if you had contact with Apple and how they reacted.

it's always something isn't it?

this is exactly why i stopped buying iphones at launch. there's always something people freak out about.

i looks like i'm going with the iphone 6 and not the 6+. cheaper, doesn't bend (as easily), still quite big in size and doesn't lack any major features only extra battery life, OIS and a higher res screen.

i really don't know how apple can fix this. aluminium can and will bend. what can they say to people? "you're sitting wrong" or "buy new trousers!" and i don't see them exchanging every iphone that gets bent. really don't think anything can be done to be honest.

if it were me i'd return the iphone 6+ and get the 6 instead or wait for 6S+

going from 6 users to 7 users is increasing by the hour? Your FUD is the reason why we can't have nice things. Be realistic. all news outlets are only using macrumors users and pictures as sources. no where else.

your FUD is the reason why when people ask why do you keep posting is when you post stuff like that

your FUD is the reason why I think people are inept in their perception
